For the kids room and I'm jealous

My husband promised our daughter stars and he delivered in a big way with this thing. It's so calming, beautiful, and realistic. You can set a timer so it's not on all night. Worth the money. 10/10 would buy again

Very cool

My husband bought this for me for my birthday. I love the stars and planets. I have a telescope and binoculars for stargazing but I have this unit in my bedroom and fall asleep to it many nights. It has a timer which is great so it isn't running all night and I can fall asleep a lot quicker. Glad he purchased this for me!

Beautiful, Fun Product

I got the Flux for my girlfriend for her birthday and we are both enjoying it quite a bit. This version, as I understand it, is newer and likewise more expensive than earlier versions that are still available. I think you get what you pay for here and that spending extra was worth it. The device looks really cool, sleek design and packaging, and is easy to use. The darker the room, the more spectacular the lights; make sure you adjust the lens by twisting the black dial back and forth and you will be amazed with how crisp and detailed the stars become. You could get it for a kid, but adults (like us) will get a lot of enjoyment from it too. Highly recommend.

Took a chance and ended up loving it.

I was skeptical when I read the reviews on this home planetarium. I decided to buy it anyways and give it a shot.

Boy am I happy I did! Focusing it was rather easy and this lit up my entire bedroom. Loved how it looks. I also bought some extra discs - totally worth it.

Best one!!

I have tried several projectors and this is the best one yet! Great quality and shows up brighter than any of the others when it is not completely dark. Image quality is phenomenal.

Happy with purchase

Bought this for my father for Christmas. Quiet while running, he even uses it when he's falling asleep. It was easy to set up, and it's easy for him to operate, but it's a bit pricey and so are the extra discs you can buy. But the image it projects looks nice, and my dad loves it. I'll probably be buying him some different slides for it soon.

Not really worthy of $180 and would still be questionable at ~$90
by YetiFu (2 out of 5 stars)

I have purchased the set that included the northern hemisphere pack and the additional northern lights disc. This review was after viewing the northern lights.

For the $180 I paid I was expecting much more. I think $30 went into the extravagant packaging. Quite honestly I believe I had a similar toy when I was a child and it came from big lots for maybe $15-20. This is nothing more than a plastic color disc that is spun around with a light shining through. The entirety of the image remains in focus the entire revolution. There's no twinkling or anything remarkable that grabs my attention. For children and infants, this is probably fine. For the adults who have given reviews of "best ever" and "totally worth"... I really question their intelligence and maturity level. As far as construction, there is more complexity to a kaleidoscope.

Biggest CON: Dust! For nearly a $200 price tag and all these "improvements" why has a dust cover been overlooked? Also, for this price the discs really should be glass. The images are magnified. Do labs use plastic slides with microscopes?..No! Now think why. This plastic is much softer and scratches very easily, which will be reflected on your ceiling. Polishing the disc between uses will be absolutely necessary.

With all this said, I ultimately purchased this after what I thought to be thorough research so this may be "the best" available. I think for the price point someone with access to the means to design and manufacture an alternative could really take this entire market over.

Best 190$ ever spent

Absolutely stunning. I've been wanting something like this for years and it is worth every penny. Project it on your ceiling and put on some cricket sounds and you'd swear you're under the night sky.

Not Worth the Money
by Michael (1 out of 5 stars)

First, it does not ship in the timeframe Amazon indicates. It takes 5 business days, according to the company.

Second, it's impossible to get focus throughout the field, unless you put the projector in the middle of the room and face it straight up. Not very practical in most rooms.

Third, the stars on the disc it comes with are super-sharp, all white, and some are just big white circles. Not very realistic. Also, I bought a second "Miller Engineering" disc and it is smaller, so it hangs in the turn mechanism. And, although the product image for the disc is super bright and colorful, the projection is dim and not as colorful.

Fourth, I can't really tell what's so much better about the Flux vs. the "original" or "pro". They look exactly the same, so you might want to save your money and buy the cheaper one (if you're determined to buy one).

Fifth, the manual says you can turn the screw knobs on either side of the projector to "fix" it to one angle, but mine does not "fix." Although the knobs do turn, they do not lock the projector into a desired angle.

All-in-all, I find this projector to be a huge waste of money. It might be worth (at most) $80, just for the novelty of it, but definitely not the $180 I paid.

The best stargazing experience indoors.
by Chad Herrella (5 out of 5 stars)

The flux is amazing. You will need to make sure room is completely dark. With the movement and the falling stars the stars come alive. I dont know how its done but you can see individual stars with their own movement and actually changing in size. You will be amazed just staring at this until you fall asleep. The 60 minute timer is enough to put you to sleep. This is crazy. I thought the $189 was a bit too much but it is worth it after one night of stargazing. if setting it in the center of yhe room straight up to the feiling does not cover the whole ceiling, you may want to try setting it up on a side table and angled/positioned so that the whole image covers the entire ceiling, you can have some of the image on the walls. Then focus the farthest stars frim the flux device to get the whole image clear. turn on movement and falling stars. I suggest playing the cosmic meditation album....it is all good. I think I purchased the last one, glad I was able to get one. I think you can purchase the flux on the sega toys website for the same price and free shiipping too.
