I just did a 1st burn today on my deck with this new rocket stove. I have a coffe can rocket stove I made myself and it works great but I wanted a cast iron version for longevity. First off, let me tell you rocket stoves aren't a magic fire starters. You need to build your fire carefully and tenderly as with any fire. Start the fire in the chimney with some paper and very dry, thin, small twigs and keep feeding it, slowly add larger and larger twigs. You want a good bed of coals established when you start feeding your sticks. I left some 5 inch twigs in the chimney when I started feeding sticks in the feeding chamber. It takes some practice to get the hang of a good rocket stove fire. Some things I discovered:
Use thin sticks, the straighter the better. If there is a fork in the small branch, break it off and dump it in the chimney. It's better to have several long finger size sticks vs a few large sticks, at least in the beginning.
Keep the feed side facing towards the wind if possible. This will create a natural bellows for the fire.
Don't hesitate to add a couple pine cone size pieces of wood directly in the fire chamber occasionally.
You MUST pretty constantly and continually keep feeding and pushing sticks down the feed chamber as they burn fast.
After you've started your fire with dry tender, and if your larger twigs are damp, putting them into the feeding chamber will help dry them out quickly so they will burn better.
This stove got over 570F with very little fuel or flames so it will easily boil water and cook food with little fuel. I didn't get it to the raging burn stage I wanted because it seemed to take longer than I anticipated and I was also trying to do some other things. Overall I am happy with it and look forward to using it.
This is a heavy stove and I would not take it backpacking but I wanted this as a home stove anyway as a backup cooking option with minimal fuel.

My husband absolutely loves it. He is part of the Trail Life Scouting Organization and he brought it to their latest campout. It was a huge hit! It's fast and really efficient. It look him a little tweaking how much wood to use but once he got the hang of it, he hasn't stopped using it. I keep catching him cooking sausages on cast iron on the patio! It's well built!

Works great, boiled water cooked some eggs in about 1/2 hour. Would definitely recommend for camping or to add to your preps. Aloha

It is very well (however crudely) built. But I, like so many others, recieved a product missing important parts. It was unusable as recieved. I don't want to go through the hassle of dealing with the manufacturer, (who was totally uncommunicative!) or returning another item to Amazon. So I'll order a proven Ecozoom stove like I should have done in the first place!

First rocket stove for me but so far I am impressed and it's a great price point for the free shipping. The build quality is great and it fires right up with very little effort.

It is sturdy, but was sent identical top plates, so they won't attach to the top of the stove. It's also not insulated as stated in the description.
Really Good Stove!

The initial stove purchased was returned, no charge to me, due to missing hardware. One of the legs was missing. I received the second stove 72 hours after returning the first stove.
Otherwise, the product performs as advertised. I would advise purchasers to use cast iron pots, especially for frying. The cast iron holds and distributes heat better than regular cookware. Moreover, the stove requires a good amount, at least a large brown paper grocery bag full of sticks, twigs, etc. to cook anything other than an egg or two.
I would like to see the manufacturer include a metal rod or something to assist in manipulating the fire like other sellers.
I am happy with the purchase.
Like the size and portability

Small but very heavy and sturdy. Works as it should. I've built my own rocket stoves but this one works the same but is much heavier!
Pictures make you think the build quality is better than it actually is...

This will do the trick. However, what was delivered is was a little disappointing.
The product itself seems to be what was ordered but it was really scratched up. Also, the quality is not as good as the photos make it seem. The photos make it seem like it's really smooth but it's actually rough. The lines aren't as smooth as the pictures depict too.
It sas dirty and scratched up so it almost makes me think I got a used one?
I really don't mind because it's just going to be used to burn wood so it's going to get beat up. Getting one that was used wasn't ideal but in the end it doesn't matter.
My wife wanted me to send it back, but this was just a fun thing for me to have and play around with so I'll keep it.
I'm going to try it out this weekend and if it doesn't meet expectations I'll adjust this review.
it is small and convenient...the top plates were snug but nothing one can do at home to fix it
