Surprisingly good

Build - The build is top notch. It is actually really heavy and feels like if I dropped it from 5 feet it wouldn't even get damaged. That being said, it is a bit heavy.

Lights - SUPER BRIGHT. But you can control them. So make them however you want. I found the white light to be way more important that the red light. You can make it any gradient of color from red to white that you want it to be. I keep mine at 30% brightness and that is perfect.

ONLY ONE. It is only one light, so if you want a good set up, you will need 2. They are quite expensive and you might find something cheaper, but overall I love elgato's product because everything works well together and it's a great built product. I really feel like it will last me as long as I want them to last.

My one negative is that it doesn't come with a standalone stand. Only a desk clamp. It works, but it's a bit further away than I would have liked.

Easy to setup, and use. Very efficient, and useful.

I've heard of this type of lighting for a long time, but it was always very expensive.

This fixture produces a beautiful, balanceable, and efficient source of light for streaming, and can even be used for general video / filmmaking on small set, or even product lighting.

Setup was easy, although I did have to come up with a creative alternative to install the fixture in my studio, since the desk is a vintage (1940) military desk. Not being able to attach the fixture to the desk, and not having enough extra room on the studio's floor for tripods, I hung the fixtures from a DJ lighting stand's T-bar. I bought two of these, so was able to do both sides.

The software is extremely easy to use. Just download, and install the Control Center app for Windows or Mac from Elgato's site, and call it up. Each fixture has it's on unique network id on the wifi network, so you can control each fixture independently.

For best effect, I found I only needed 15 to 20% intensity on the main key light, on one side of me, and about 5% on the other side of me, for fill lighting of my face.

I wanted to get more of these to flood the green screen with, but didn't have enough in budget to get four of these. Had to go with two, and just used a set of filmmaking panels for the green screen.

Since these fixtures use rim LEDs, whos light is emitted through opal glass, it's very much like using a soft box, or umbrella light. Just nowhere near as bulky.

By the way, these fixtures will fit on quarter twenty threaded bolts, so any filmmaking gear should work well with them.

My only main dislike was the power adapter. It's bloody huge, and bulky, taking up precious space on outlets. I did not like having to sift through a bunch of foreign mains plugs to get the right one. That said, however, it does mean I can take these with me to many different countries, and still be able to use them, no problem.

The desk clamp stands are very heavy duty. You'd probably break your desk, before these stands would break. LOL

I like that you can extend these fixtures quite high. I think they'll go high enough to reach over a 40 inch monitor, if need be.

Being legally blind, the huge cardboard instruction poster was greatly appreciated.

I only wish there was an ipad, iPhone, or android version of control center. Fingers crossed. Eh?

You get what you pay for!

I know what you're thinking... $200... for a light...

It's worth every penny.

Easy to set up. Crazy amount of control. Complete light coverage. And it just looks great in your setup.

The included stand let me throw this on my desk in a few minutes after reorganizing some wires. It's a high quality stand that does its job.

The Elgato Control software allows you to control the light directly from your desktop. This is super helpful when dialing in the perfect brightness/color temp when configuring your cam for OBS or XSplit (especially when you're trying to get the chroma key settings just right). Being able to control it from the Stream Deck is another great feature. As silly as it sounds, it just feels satisfying to press a button on your Stream Deck and have the lights turn on.

Right now I only have 1 light, and it lights me up perfectly. I use a nanoleaf to light the left side of me, and a small softbox light to properly light up my green screen. I'll probably end up grabbing another Key Light in a few months and put one on either side of me, but until then, 1 works just fine.

And finally... It just looks great on your setup IMO. Much better than large softboxes, that's for sure.

If you're a streamer/content creator and you're looking for some new lights, I can't reccommend this product highly enough.

Note: In my pic, the light is at the lowest possible setting. I typically use it at 15%. At 100%, you need sunglasses.

Best value for the price

So first all, I know these seem pricy. I understand. I thought so too until I started trying to recreate all the features of these. I had a whole list of materials to allow for mounting directly to my desk, getting them to the right height, being able to easily and accurately adjust the light settings, and so on. Final price ended up being just shy of the cost of one of these.

So I bought two of these instead of trying to rig up a matching setup with multiple other pieces, and I am so glad I did. I had two of these unboxed, mounted, powered, and configured in less time than it would take to have set up one if I had gone the other route. I don't need to adjust them that often, but being able to from the taskbar is a very nice feature.

I am a Youtuber and Twitch streamer. I am not even close to being a full-time "professional" at these things, but I still consider myself to be a professional and expect myself to work in a professional way. If you are needing something cheaper because you are doing the same thing and just getting started, that's fine. Buy something cheaper. I did the same thing. But at this time in my efforts, I felt I needed some more professional grade equipment and to me these are worth more than what I ended up paying.

OVERPRICED! You've got to be kidding me!

One light!?

One light, are you serious?!

Almost every piece of advertising leads you to believe that this is a set, even the price would leave you to believe it's a set.

ITS SHOWN AS A SET ONE THE BOX!

BUT NO.

ONE LIGHT.

I am a cinematographer, I understand professional lighting costs and in my professional opinion I thought that the price was high, even for this set, but enjoyed the fact that you could control them with your PC and that they clamped to the desk to help reduce the light's footprint.

I thought, hey, $200, for a set like this is a little high but ya gotta pay extra because its a popular brand. BUT it showed up and I was floored.

So basically they expect you to pay $400 to get what you think you ordered.

Do you know what kind of professional lighting kits you can get for that price?

If you want something actually worth the price take some time and look some up.

But all that being said, theres no way I would recommend this product to anyone, maybe at $100 each and $200 for a set, and that's a serious maybe.

At $200 this should have the option to be battery powered AND have a FREE tripod so you can use it to light whatever scene or shoot you want to for this price.

To have this light sold at a professional price without it having the features of one, simply baised off the brand and popularity of streaming is STRAIGHT UP ROBBERY.

Spend $120-$160 on a cheaper SET of lights, and then take yourself out for pizza and be happy you didn't get hustled like ya boy right here.

PS. Ya know that scene with Han Solo and Leia, when they're bickering then she storms off, he's left slackjawed and says "no reward is worth this", well, that's pretty much how I feel about this.

Hopefully this thing goes on sale, so I can return it and be able to afford the set for the same price, the price its mostly worth.

This is like a mirco transaction in the real world.

Doesn't connect to WiFi easily. Please Corsair make a new version connecting to Bluetooth.

So I just bought one and spent all day trying to figure it out. On the box it says the light supports WPA/WPA 2 encryption according to the specifications on the box. The issue I was having was that the light would find and lose my current networks repeatedly. I tried using both the Windows software and the iOS app. Anything and everything I tried wouldn't work. I reset my network, multiple restarts, reinstalled the software on my computer and phone app, nothing worked. Then I tried adjusting my router to do no encryption, WPA, and WPA2, and still nothing. The light just refused to connect to my home network.

I dug out my old router from college (about 8 years ago), on just a hunch, and to my surprise, it worked instantly. That was the only way I could successfully get the light to connect and work. But using that old router means my internet was crawling despite having 160 Mbps download and 80 Mbps up. I could have two routers set up, one just for the light, and one for my home internet, but that seems unnecessary and backwards. So I'm returning the light.

The tech in this light is outdated I guess. Many people have had the same issues with it. It's honestly a shame, but until they come out with a better version, that connects to say, Bluetooth and not the WiFi network, I'm going to be looking elsewhere for my light setup.

Excellent Build Quality and extremely easy to setup and use.

I was using daylight LED bulbs in lamps with some canvas to send the light one direction. It worked but it was a pain. I looked around for something better and came across the Elgato Key Light. The light looked like it would be perfect for what I needed which is high quality light for streaming on Twitch.

Most will think they're expensive but in my honest opinion they're expensive for a reason - they're extremely well built. They are made out of metal and thus far do not seem to get hot during operation. At full brightness they're almost blindingly bright and I'm actually running them at 3% and 6% brightness levels for streaming. That is the brightness that is set in the picture I'm including with this review.

The light they put out is diffuse and doesn't leave sharp shadows - they light very evenly. You can adjust the color spectrum from 2900K to 7000K. I don't know what the minimum lumens is but it's 2,500 at 100% which is an impressive amount of light.

They do come with vertical desk mounts that are very solidly built as well. The ball mount at the top is metal and they lock down securely and easily. In my picture you can see that I have the two side lights turned at 90 degrees.

They integrate with the Elgato Stream Deck which is awesome because at one touch of a button I can turn all 3 lights on and set the proper settings to get ready for streaming. I press another button and they all turn off. I've even created a folder with other buttons to control the lights individually - on/off, brightness, color, etc.

If you don't have a stream deck you can very easily control them from your task bar in Windows including turning them on and off as well as adjusting brightness and color. There is going to be an iOS app for controlling them as well but as of writing this review it is not yet available. When it does become available I'll update this review to comment on it.

Setup was easy. I did use my iPhone too set them up - I just connected to my 2.4 GHz network and then in the Wifi area of my phone there was an option to configure the Key Lights. I touched on the key light and touched 'configure' and it connected the light to the wifi.

You do *not* need to have wifi on your computer to use these so long as they can be reached over your network. You can configure them from the computer if your computer does have WiFi but I did use my iPhone and found the process simple enough. I do wish the documentation was a little clearer on the setup in iOS but it was simple enough that I figured it out.

They were expensive but I'm very happy with them. They are just what I needed to be able to light myself and my green screen evenly while streaming. The ability to change their color and brightness as I need, on the fly, is amazing.

Easy setup, amazing light range.

After years of messing with several different lighting configurations, I finally have one I'm happy with. These lights are easy to setup, and the ability to adjust the light while sitting in front of the camera is a MAJOR time saver. The range of light and wireless adjustment features make these worth the extra cost over cheaper hacks. Due to my monitor and studio configuration, I only use a portion of these lights. My green screens are lit by separate lights so I only need to light me. These lights could easily provide enough light for any room / configuration. Don't waste time on the rest, get the best.

Ehhhh

Beautiful product, I'm just disappointed in how big it is, and how it attaches to the stand.

I really wish they were half the size they are, as nobody would ever use this at 100%. It doesn't just light my face, it lights all the walls behind me. The photo of the steamer using them with the dark room is just not realistic, it's going to look like daytime in your room because it's so big and bright.

The head has to be screwed on to attach it, it's really inconvenient. When you try to adjust the light you have to loosen the knob, and if you're not holding the light really well it's going to slam down.

Amazing lighting in minutes :)

I cannot emphasize enough how easy it was to set up this product. I bought two and both were all ready to go in about 20 minutes. As a streamer, the ease of being able to adjust the brightness and warmth/coolness of your lights right from your desktop instead of having to get up and toy with the lights manually.

Two things I would want to mention however, please make sure you have ample space on your desk or wherever the lights will be to clamp onto as the tightener for the clamp is quite long and make take a few tries before you can get a good fit. Also the plugs are large which shouldn't be an issue, but I figured it would be a nice heads up for anyone purchasing!
