1.Perfect for what I wanted for. "Alexa, set temperature to X"
2.Good value for money. It's hard to find a <150US smart thermostat that works
3.Easy to use/Install. Functions are basic but installation it's also very easy. Did it myself with no electrical knowledge whatsoever.
4.Looks great on white walls. My home deco it's all white, so they mingle perfectly.
5.Materials feel good and durable, We've have no problem since day 1.

The more affordable smart thermostat doesn't need batteries, nor will it tell you the weather. Neither are critical features of a thermostat. Also, I will be receiving a rebate from my power company. Which means that I received the thermostat almost half off.

I installed myself in about 15 minutes and I am not a handyman. The app is easy to use and set schedules. I saved over $30 on our utility bill the first month we had it.

This thermostat works great and I love that I can control it with my phone, it's super easy. It is SO important to take a picture of your current thermostats wiring before you disconnect it though! DO NOT FORGET THIS, unless you're an electrician, which I am certainly not! I forgot this step which made for a lot of trial and error on my part to get it installed correctly.

This is the third one that I have owned. I would not live without it. They are absolutely great, fast service if you need to talk to a trouble technician oh, they do what they are supposed to do.

Gmail only

Can you say proprietary? Had Nest camera and doorbell, so decided to try the thermostat. Now apparently Nest has been bought by Google, and you can only use it with a gmail account. Updated our iPhones, so to add the new phones, have to "Migrate" the previous Nest account to "Google". Want to invite your spouse so they can use it with a me.com address or your kid with a msn.com address - no can do, only "gmail". Total BS. Thermostat not intuitive and certainly nothing "smart" about it - can't even program the fan to run continuously. Just bought the thermostat a couple weeks ago, so still able to return, would return the other Nest products if I was able. Going to purchase a competitors WiFi thermostat instead. I will avoid all Nest products in the future.

We did run into a difficulty with the wiring but your support gal Dani was great and helped us rewire it after I sent her a photo of the original wiring on the old thermostat. Once we changed one wire it worked beautifully. We are looking forward to energy savings. By the way, if you live in San Diego, SDG&E is offering a $75 rebate through the summer.

Not compatible with IOS Apple phone

Easy to install and looks nice but Nest app is not compatible with Apple IOS phone! The whole point of the product is to be able to control it remotely. I spent 90 minutes on the phone with Nest support only to be told to get an Android system if I wanted to use the app. Returning it!

Easy to see

We bought this for my 91 year old mother who has advanced macular degeneration. My husband, who does not have a tech background, was able to install it in an evening. It would have been impossible for technophobes. She loves it! Using Google home, she can give it verbal commands to use both the heating and air conditioning functions so it is always the temperature she wants.
