Have to buy if your single and have a petby Dennis Baker (5 out of 5 stars)

This book has a disturbingly accurate collection of facts as to why having a pet is better than having a baby. If my mom were to review this, she would have gave it a negative 5 (she wants grandchildren) so I immediately had to give this a 5 star review. If you have never read a book by the Oatmeal, this book is a great glimpse into the comic genius, with a lot of content that has not been posted before. If I could, I would preach this book.
Runny Oatmeal? Lacks Coherence
by Michelle (3 out of 5 stars)

This book contains typical comics by the Oatmeal (Matthew Inman). I like some of his work, not all of it, and I'd say the same for this book. However, the book as a whole lacks coherence, and some of the comics have no connection to the babies-cats theme. It reads like he thought, "Hey, I have a bunch of comics about babies or cats that haven't been published. Let's put them all together in a book along with some random unrelated comics." In other words, it feels like a cash grab, rather than a pre-planned and well-developed book. Matthew Inman is talented, no doubt, but this book is not my favorite. If you're already a super-fan, I'm sure you'll like this one, too. If you're not familiar with his work, I suggest you check out some of his other books first, like The Terrible and Wonderful Reasons Why I Run Long Distances, or How to Tell If Your Cat Is Plotting to Kill You.
Dogs vs. Cats vs. Babies
by William Carpenter (4 out of 5 stars)

Matthew Inman, better known as "The Oatmeal," has written an important book that makes a convincing argument for several important points - even though it is disguised as a book of humor. He makes an impressive case against having babies that I found entirely convincing. He also makes a very good case for keeping all cats indoors and putting orange collars on them. Finally he makes a good case that if you must have a pet, a dog is the best choice of all (even if it is not a Corgi).
The book comes with a nice foldout poster on "how to tell if your cat thinks you'rel not that big of a deal." It would have been better if he had chosen to make a truly educational poster of his powerful argument for making murderous cats indoor pets.
This is also a humorous book, though the level of humor is at the level of a young adolescent male, but don't let that distract you from the author's more serious points.
Laugh out loud funny

I am an Oatmeal fan so I had a good idea what to expect. The author did not let me down. Crude, irreverent, and spot on for lovers of furry little sociopaths. Side bonus, I enjoyed sending a couple of the pages to my daughter, just to remind her that the cat is cuter.
The Oatmeal's humor at its best.

I've followed The Oatmeal off and on for a while; I genuinely enjoy his sense of humor.
I recently purchased his other book "How to know if your cat is plotting to kill you" and while it was good, almost all of the content Had been seen before.
This book is almost all new (to me at least) and freakin great. I've laughed so much and I'm not halfway through yet.
I'm planning on gifting copies of this to people for the rest of the year.
Insightful and honest look at man vs. kitty.

This book is hilarious. I couldn't put it down. If you're tired of hearing how great other people's children are, this could be the book for you. The author is a genius.

I never heard of this guy, but love cartoonists with observational bite. I must also admit, forgive me, that I dont have 1 iota of maternal instinct in me and have endured decades of You Name It because I never wanted kids and even being asked if I wanted to hold a baby is akin to being asked if I want to hold a rabid badger, so I identified with this cartoonist. Its one of the rare books that had me laughing out loud. I even sent some screen shot to my mom, who was laughing so hard I ordered her one, too. (The section on a cat hogging your bed is priceless. I wish there was a poster of these panels). I went and got this author's other book out of the library and enjoyed much of those, its a "real person" humor and light, honest storytelling. Tho the drawing seems minimal at times, even the shape of a black cat in these pages conveys tons ( a cat must sleep in a position like its airborn, and its their pillow ,so get over it). Enjoyed and promise laughs!
Very funny!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was browsing pet options, happened on "baby", and recoiled with "good lord, no!". Babies are terrible. Cats are fantastic. This book knows where it's at.
It's a hilarious book and I loved reading it!

Cats, Babies, Dogs, It's All Here!

The Oatmeal is a favorite of mine anyways, so naturally when I saw this book I had to get a copy. If you have any experience at all with babies, cats or dogs or all three this book will make you laugh and nod your head in agreement. If you attempt to read this book in public people will either be drawn to your laughter and will soon be reading over your shoulder laughing too OR they'll be calling security on you.
Much of this probably depends on how your general appearance is and how charming (or not) your laugh is, so take this all into account. Or read it in private, because you don't like to share and you hate people reading over your shoulder. Like me.
It's all good. Just like this book.
