Intro to knitting guide designed for men by a manby D. Matlack (5 out of 5 stars)
February 8, 2015
First off, it is a huge thrill to see this back in print!
I'm not going to deny that at this point with so many different knitting patterns both in books and online that the content of this book might seem trivial in comparison with only a handful of patterns and two include a wall hanging for featuring stock ribbons and a hammock knitted from rope using either shovel handles or pool cues. The cover itself with a man knitting while horseback lends a sense of novelty to it.
That being said, in these brief pages is a very real remedial knitting book designed to teach a new knitter how to knit with the basics and I found the brief, succinct chapters to be designed precisely for men.
I loved this book for it's novelty and really its place in history, I'm sure that in 1972 when it first came out it got its fair share of double takes at the booksellers.

Knit a hammock using shovel handles or pool cues? A saddle blanket for your horse using a piece of garden hose? Therein is your challenge! Very practical and forthright, a most excellent instruction manual. I have many how-to-knit books, but when it comes to teaching the basics, this is one of the best. (I think that's the author's picture on the cover.)

We bought this book as a joke for my husband. Now he's knitting some of the patterns! I want to see him make a hammock!

This book is amazing! Just look at the cover and tell me it's not phenomenal. The projects are useful and progressive to skill and need. It was just very well put together.
