Grillfloss BBQ Cleaning Toolby Steve W (5 out of 5 stars)

Excellent tool for cleaning Rod Type BBQ Grates. It does a great job of reaching the underside of the rods where things can stick and buildup. Typical grill brushes only clean the top of the grates leaving behind matter on the sides and bottom of the grate rods. The Grillfloss Cleaning Tool cleans these areas well.
The only reason for not giving this product 5 Stars is I feel that the actual cleaning tip portion could have been made a little thicker so as to prevent any flexing. I also noticed some very minor surface rusting on the tip which indicates to me that this may not be made of stainless or is of a lesser quality stainless. These minor imperfections don't effect function and I would still highly recommend the product for anyone with steel rod type BBQ grates.
UPDATE 03/11/2014:
Having read some of the few less than stellar reviews I thought it might be helpful to caution any potential purchaser to be most aware that the GrillFloss tool is only designed to be used with the stainless steel ROD TYPE BBQ GRATES. Take a close look at the pictures and you will note that in each instance it is shown being used only on a perfectly round, rod type grate. If you don't have this type of grate, which frankly is not nearly as commonly found on most BBQ's as others, you won't find this BBQ cleaning tool helpful. If you do have the round rod type of grate system you will find the GrillFloss Cleaning Tool to be a tremendous help in keeping those grates from getting any buildup of cooking residue around the entire circumference of the rods. A simple action of push, twist, pull on each rod is all that it takes. It works extremely well and I know of no other tool that works as easily and completely as the GrillFloss does and I have tried just about all of them. I hope this clarification helps some to avoid disappointment that really isn't the fault of the product maker.
Also, in my initial review of the GrillFloss I was critical of the tools cleaning tip as being of questionable, long term quality. The makers of GrillFloss must read these reviews because I recently became aware of the fact that they have vastly improved the cleaning tip with a better manufacturing process and materials that definitely answered my criticism. Also I was very excited to hear that they now manufacture their product in the USA rather than China which deserves recognition. I always prefer American made products over products made overseas. That's just me.
As a result of these improvements I feel very comfortable to move my star rating from 4 to 5 stars for a truly useful, well made product.

absolutely love this thing, its brilliant. I actually ended up buying two one for the top warming rack and one for the main grill grates. I think this along with the bristle free kona safe grill cleaner are all i need. The Grill floss works great event when the grill is cold as its as a much better surface contact. I'd recommend cleaning the grill when its hot and also using a wet paper towel to run through the grates before you cook and then wipe with some high temp cooking oil such as grape seed oil ( although veg oil will do just fine) .

In my quest to replace the wire brush grill cleaner I tried many possible solutions, spiral wire brushed, wood scraper, steel wool, non-metal scraper, and more. None of them worked great and they each had issues. The grill floss comes with four different scraper sizes and the smallest works well with my 22" kettle grill. However, it will not work with the cast iron grate in my kamado style grill, which I knew and expected. Also, when the grill is cold after using the floss I then polish with a green scrub pad.

I like this tool very much and it does a really good job for what it does. If you grill food that has drippy and sticky sauces like barbeque sauce or thick marinade this is what you need to clean the grill. As others have posted, you still need a brush but this will get the hard stuck on stuff that a brush can't touch. Since the scraper part goes almost all the way around the grate bars it cleans the sides, not just the tops like the scrapers that are on some brushes. And not that its anything but "looks better" it also gets the dangly bits hanging on the bottom of the grate that no other brush or scraper can get to.
That said, it could use one improvement. It wraps around each bar (only works for larger round bar grates, it would be almost useless on the super cheapo tiny wire grates and the triangle shaped cast iron grates) clockwise so it gets the right side of the bar completely, but it could use a contour on the other side that would allow you to also get the left side of the bar.
All in all, I like it very much and I actually use it.

I purchased the GrillFloss based on positive reviews. It is an OK product that will scrape burnt-on stuff from your barbecue grille. But you will also need a wire brush to do a complete job. My old brush had tangs on the edges that would do the same as GrillFloss. My chief complaint with the unit is lack of robustness. The GrilleFloss is fabricated from stainless tubing. But it deflects during use. My old brush was more positive in scraping off the carbonaecous coating.
Good but not that sturdy for really crusty grills

I think this tool works as advertised. That said, it could be improved. It has a changeable head to ensure you are using it on the correct size grill. Very good on that point. Issue is that it one has one little bolt and nut holding it. After vigorously scaling off the hard crusty items for half of my grill the head completely fell off because the nut had loosened. I lost the bolt and replaced it with another but that was a pain. I'm not sure if lock washers would help, i didn't have any for such a small bolt but that may make this a slightly better tool. Aside from that, it worked nicely.
OK, not great.

I had hoped this would really clean my stainless steel grill. It does a good job of getting food and drippings from all sides of each rod. It doesn't get the charred black stuff. Nothing does. No chemical, no brush or scraper. If you really want to get your grill shiny, it takes a Brillo Pad and lots of elbow grease.

I was skeptical - it's just a rod with a stainless fixture at the end. Turns out it's perfect, and these people have thought through exactly the shape and angle that works best for clearing carbon from the grill. Congrats to GrillFloss - this is an indispensable tool.

It does have a different size of the floss for different size of your grids. It is long enough to be able to reach the entire area. I love it

I have a professional style grill and use it often. This is the only tool I have found that reliably cleans the bottom of the grates. Others have complained about ease of use or sturdiness, but I did not find these to be issues.
