Poor quality Not the same product pictured
by Amazon Customer (1 out of 5 stars)

Product not as pictured on box. The pot in the box was 1-poor quality with flaws in the porcelain at the nostril point, so unsanitary and too rough 2-not as pictured on the box: a good eye can see the actual pot seems like a cheap knock off with different shape, thickness and even imprint is wrong 3-I had one of this brand years ago and it was very thin, sleek and useful, but this one is totally different 4-Unless you have huge nostrils and small fingers it is not useable because the spout is super fat with a tiny off-center hole and tiny finger hole on the handle 5-A clean spout should not have a lip inside you can't clean like this one does (due to cheap quality)

Neti Pot Deaths Linked to Brain-Eating Amoeba in Tap Water
by Gregory Brown (4 out of 5 stars)
December 17, 2011

My girlfriend just sent me an article from yahoo news about two deaths in Louisiana linked to Neti pot use. From the article "The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals issued its warning following a second death this year caused by Naegleria fowleri, the so-called brain-eating amoeba." It goes on to recommend using only boiled, bottled, or distilled water in your Neti. The amoeba is very rare in tap water, and is safe to drink. It only causes problems when it goes into your sinuses. Most people get sick from it when swimming in warm fresh water, but if it is in your tap water then the Neti could ironically make you a lot sicker. I'd rather have a stuffed nose than have my brain deteriorate as I sink into a fog of hallucination before dying within 12 days.

That being said, I love how I feel after using it. It is wonderful to be able to breathe through a clean head. I find it is easier to use in the shower, plus the shower steam also help me breath better. I'm going to continue using my Neti but I'm going to boil the water first. You know, just to be safe.

UPDATE JULY 8, 2012 I'm still happy with this contraption. My head is still clear. I'm still not dead!

Update Jun 7 2013 Still alive.

Update January 30 2014. I am alive, but I do have a mild sinus infection. I don't think it's related to neti or brain eating ameobas. I haven't used my neti pot in a while. If my brain keeps functioning I'll update this review.

UPDATE October 14 2014 She's no longer my girlfriend. We have been married for over two years now. As for my trusty netipot from the famed Himalayan Institue: It is still working properly.

UPDATE April 16 2015 I still have the Neti Pot. The craftsmanship at the Himalayan institute is remarkable. Furthermore you'll be happy to learn I haven't devolped any brain eating Aemeoba symptoms. I should say I don't use the N. Pot often, but it helps when I have a cold. I'm still very much alive.

UPDATE! December 5 2016 I'm glad this review is helpful to dozens and tens of amazon shoppers. Who knew so may people are spending time reading reviews of Neti pots on the internet? I'm not a hero. No, I'm just a man trying to give back in my own small way.

August 14, 2018 Look I love Summer. It's my favorite season, but is anybody else ready from some crisp fall weather?

It works
by Zack (3 out of 5 stars)
January 25, 2017

I've used only one other Neti-Pot prior to this one and wish I still had it. This one works well enough but I have two small problems with it. One is that the opening to pour in water is small and doesn't let in enough light to always see how full it is. Second the design makes it very difficult to use correctly without spilling and making a mess. Other wise it works well and is exactly as advertised.

Pros:
- Works well
- As advertised

Cons:
- Easy to over or under fill
- Easy to spill

Not the best Nettie pot out there
by NLopie (2 out of 5 stars)
March 22, 2018

I love Nettie pots, and swear by them for helping with allergy and recurrent sinus issues. I had a plastic one I used for years and thought it time to try a new one. Purchased this one and loathe using it. Cons - it's heavy, fragile, and difficult to hold. Also the nostril holes are too small, as is the handle. And I am a rather small woman with small hands and nose. Can't imagine anyone besides a child finding the sizing to work for them. I'd really advocate shopping around for a better option. The plastic one I had previously is back in use - has been my go to Nettie for over ten years!

Wish they hadn't modified the specs
by DC Gal (3 out of 5 stars)

A proper neti. I've purchased this brand twice before over the past 10+ years with no complaints. I only had to buy replacements after they were carelessly dropped.

This time disappoints because the dimension on the nozzle opening increased. Not significantly, enough to make the fit too tight. It's like it was widened. Unfortunately I did not use it until it was too late to return. Hopefully the company will correct the next model run of these.

Skip this and buy one with a lid and a more comfortable snout.
by Priya Shastri (1 out of 5 stars)
February 4, 2018

This neti pot is really impractical. It doesn't have a cover so you have to stir the salt in instead of shaking it. Then when you start to do neti some water will spill from the top opening. The water that goes in the handle doesn't get salt mixed in hence at the end it stings. It also has no air hole to control the water flow. Skip this and buy one with a lid and a more comfortable snout.

Great hollistic option for congestion due to colds and allergies
by Delay Man Dan (4 out of 5 stars)
February 10, 2016

I used to get congested whenever I laid down, especially at night when going to bed, until I was introduced to a neti-pot by a close friend. I used this product for the first time in 2011 and I've only needed to use it a couple times a year for allergies or a cold coming on since then. I've even had my son use it and found we've both been able to use this as an alternative to taking medicine some of the time. I prefer holistic whenever possible, but rely on medicine when needed. I recommend a porcelain neti-pot for home use so it can go into the dish washer, but for travel you'll need something more durable. I also recommend avoiding the use of tap water since this solution passes close to the brain. Since the water needs to be warn to dissolve the salt, I use filtered water heated on the stove. Use your better judgment for the temperature of the water.

Flawed design
by FlyingGoat (1 out of 5 stars)
July 30, 2015

One of the most important factors in a neti pot is how easy it is to clean. If it is not easy to clean and bacteria builds up in your neti pot your are destined to catch a sinus infection. This is funny because a lot of us use neti pots to reduce the chance of sinus infections.

This neti pot is impossible to thoroughly clean because there is a hole that leads to the handle that is the size of a fine point pen. Not sure what the designers were thinking on this one as there should be no holes whatsoever entering the handles.

Fantastic! Just what I was looking for.
by ECS (5 out of 5 stars)
November 16, 2016

This neti pot has been fantastic. I use it daily with warm water and non-iodized salt and afterwards wash with soap and hot water. I like that it holds a bit more than the typical drugstore plastic ones and I feel better that it's ceramic (not plastic) and after washing I know that it's very clean for he next use; I have not placed in dishwasher. I would recommend this product to anyone that has frequent sinus issues and bad seasonal allergies.

Hope you have big nostrils!
by Savior-X (2 out of 5 stars)
November 24, 2017

It didn't seem to work as well fitting with my nostrils as other methods I have used. It would drip from the nostril to which I was holding it to. If it can't make it in the nostril it should form a pseudo-seal, which this one didn't do for me. Also, probably also due to this, I was getting more going down my throat than with other methods I have used (plastic neti pot or squeeze bottles).
