This set of cuffs would be a wonderful accent to any historical or pirate themed décor. Handcrafted of iron they are based on surviving examples as well as extensive literature. This is a pair of double locking hand iron cuffs. Double locking means that the swinging arm of the cuff will not move in either direction once locked into place. This prevents the cuffs from getting tightened when the double lock is engaged. This pair of cuffs are made of an all metal construction with a polished metal finish. A long heavy gauge chain link combines the cuffs together. Item specification - replica colonial-era functional handcuffs - based on historical references existing examples - pair of locking cuffs comes with a single lock - perfect accessory for costume, theatre, lerp, or re-enactment - made from iron metal.

Work great for sets or within escape rooms!
by TJK2577 (5 out of 5 stars)

Purchased these as a problem for within an escape room. Very heavy duty and no issues within a few months of using them this far. Be ware if you are purchasing for escape room purposes they run on a generic key so you can not set multiple up and expect people to find different keys to unlock. But using them on a single prop or as a set piece as we did, they work great, made of great metal and do not damage easily. They will also fit on an actors hand or any standard prop hand.

Aaar... slap him in irons, matey!

I purchased these along with IR80117 Leg Shackles for an upcoming pirate themed photo shoot.

They arrived quickly, well packed, and in an ordinary box, for people who want them for other purposes and don't have a pirate chest and plastic coins and gems. They look very authentic, very cool. While the leg shackles require the key to both open and close, these ones only require the key to open, and close just like police handcuffs.

Like any good prop person I made certain they could be opened and closed before putting them on a person. They stick a little, which was a little disconcerting. I couldn't just turn the key and have them release easily, I had to fiddle with them to get them to open. the trick is, rather then grabbing the loop on the incise of the lock, to press the portion on the tip on the outside of the lock in the direction of the piece you are pressing. Definitely practice with these before putting them on a person.

On last thing. they do have a black residue on them that you would expect on cast iron. Since I'm going directly from handling them to picking up an expensive camera, I will be wearing gloves to do it. It's definitely not a good idea to lock a model in these then walk away to wash your hands.

Not quite what I wanted

These are interesting looking handcuffs and will make great set dressing for my theatrical endeavors. However, they are rather small and barely fit on my wrists so I don't think I will be using them as actual handcuffs. The mechanism for locking is also suspect and I would be afraid my actors would not be able to get out of them. It's not clear from the description but the only way to lock these is with the key. They are not ratcheted. Also, they were covered with a lot of grease and oil, obviously to prevent rusting, but the end result is that they are very "dirty" and I've had to wash my hands and wrists after handling. I'm hoping I can get some of that off.

The best

I do a lot of decorating for Halloween, Pirates, skeletons, tombstones, the usual and I shop aggressively for good and different items to put on display for the kids. I saw these and thought they would be a nice change for the cheesy plastic or styrofoam ones you see at some of the Halloween stores and online. When the handcuffs arrived I was blown away with the quality, I believe you could really use these on a prisoner. They are very well made and the locks (comes with a key) are fully functional. These are going to look great on my hanging skeleton pirate. I also ordered a set of shackles from the same company to complete the set. If you use quality products when you decorate and are tired of your purchases lasting one or two seasons before you have to shell out more $$, these are for you...

Awesome for a pirate ship!
by Samuel P. (5 out of 5 stars)

I built my kids a pirate ship and now I am outfitting it. I purchased two. These are heavy duty and they each had DIFFERENT keys. One set will not work on the other. There is a number stamped on the key and the shackle. They are real and if you lock someone up, they aren't getting out. INCREDIBLE.

These shackles are perfect for my needs
by Grey GrimGrave (5 out of 5 stars)

These shackles are perfect for my needs. As an agent of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, my job requires my ability to track apprehend and transport a bounty safely and these do that well though I will require something different for the larger quarry. The shackles would fit a wrist up to max. of 7 1/2" so they will not work for larger wrists. Well, I'm off to capture another desperate scofflaw and remember The Pinkerton motto "We never sleep!"

Cheap quality fun
by Tiggerwarning (4 out of 5 stars)

I just got these in the mail, and immediately started to play with them. They're pretty sturdy, but the locking mechanism is a little on the weak side. I tested it by pulling both hands away from each other vigorously, and one of the locks sprung open. I figured out that the threaded pins that the key screws onto inside the shackle must not be able to wiggle around in there. One shackle was nice and tight, but the other was kind of loose. The solution is to try to "clap" the lock on, and then check the threaded pin to make sure it doesn't budge. Other than that, they look nice if you plan on decorating with them, and they feel and look original enough to use as props for a costume at the Renaissance Fair.

My son loves these. They are really well made and authentic looking. They went great with his halloween costume. His mechanic dad was equally impressed and loved playing with them.

The cuffs arrived, without the key, bummer. I had to process a return since it was useless without the key.
