I bought this watch because my venerable Omega needed to go back to Switzerland for cleaning and lubrication. I chose the Tawatec because I like the bright tritium illumination and my previous experience with the better known Luminox watches had not been good. It has proven entirely satisfactory and I plan to use it as my beater watch (i.e. the one you wear for camping or playing soccer) after my Omega comes back.
As with all the tritium-tube watches I have seen, this one is extremely easy to read even after hours in total darkness. It relies on safe, very low level radioactive emissions to produce light rather than absorbing energy when in the light and radiating it in the darkness as most watches do. The tritium tubes are said to be reliable for more than ten years.
Much of the case and bezel ring are made of carbon fiber enriched plastic and should be plenty durable. The model I purchased was supplied with a sturdy rubber strap but alternatives are available. Mine has green tubes on the hands and hour markers with an orange tube at 12. Another model has blue in place of green, while a third uses blue on the markers, orange on the hour hand and green on the minute hand. That one, to my eye, is a bit over the top but seems to be quite popular.
Compared to my Omega, the fit and finish look a bit rough but I hasten to say that is merely by comparison with a very upscale watch. Judged by the standards of moderately priced sports watches, it compares favorable to the competition. The case is advertised to be water resistant to 200 meters. That being the claim, I was surprised to note that the stem does not screw down but simply pulls out. Looking at other reviews here and elsewhere, I've come upon no evidence of leakage. However, although this is advertised as a diver's watch, it really is not designed nor is it priced!) for professional divers. The stem is at the four o'clock position and does not poke into the wrist as some with more conventional placement might. The crystal is flat "mineral crystal" (hardened glass) rather than sapphire so some scratches can be expected over time.
Persons with smaller wrists should keep in mind that the case diameter is 47mm and can look quite large on an arm of modest proportions. If one wears long-sleeved shirts, it can sometimes be a task to pull the cuff back over the watch to read the time.
Overall, I think this is a fine product, for its type, in its price range. I recommend it without hesitation for anyone seeking this kind of watch.
Good tritium beater/sports watch.

I received my Tawatec watch yesterday (mine is the green tritium markers w/silicone watch band) and here are my initial observations of the watch. Bezel fit is perfect and clicks nicely (60-unidirectional); I did notice a very-very small amount of lateral play but not enough for me to worry about. The tritium markers glow very nicely in low-light situations and really shine in complete darkness (no problems here!). The silicone strap is very soft and pliable with plenty of sizing holes (I have a 7" wrist and I'm using the second to last hole so larger wrists should have no problems). Weight...even though this watch is rather large it almost feels like nothing is there while wearing it due to the materials used (should have no issues with wrist fatigue). Rhonda high torque movement...it has been 24 hours and I am still "dead-nuts" synch with atomic time (I wouldn't expect any less out of the Rhonda movement)-I will have to update after a month but I'm expecting good results. Now for the only bad comment I can report right now: the second hand does not line up perfect with the indices. I know this is trivial but as a watch collector and recent modder of watches this is just a bothersome issue for me. Other than that this watch seems to be built like a tank and ready to handle whatever you can throw at it (time will tell?). As a side note I've noticed Tawatec has a MKII version of this watch and they really listened to the customers (saphire crystal, black date wheel, and anodized crown)...of course all these items come at a higher cost but still nice to see the options are available.
this Tawatec maintains a nice balance of size without being silly

When you need a no frills , pure engineered watch on your wrist it's either Luminox or Tawatec.
The Tawatec is slightly larger which makes visibility in the dark a sure thing. The power behind this watch is reliability.
I can't tell you how many people I know who own top end watches sending them in to be adjusted and repaired.
The trend is bigger and bigger watches ....this Tawatec maintains a nice balance of size without being silly.
The tritium is bright and easily visible in any low light conditions. The light polycarbonate frame is great for never take off wear. The second, minute and hour hands are in precise alignment and good to go for any deployment or mission.
Tawatec focuses on performance and it delivers every second. Highly recommend this timepiece.

Ordered watch on 11/22/2012 got it on 11/26/2012 Amazing. Large watch face and very easy to read. Positive bezel movement. Easy to read at night, numbers and hands are easy to see. Illumination is bright but it doesn't put off excessive light. Rubber strap is comfortable but I replaced the strap with a Bund 6645-12-145-6415 leather strap for additional comfort applying a leather oil before placing the watch on the band. I also ordered a 27mm clear watch protector to cover the crystal. The position of the crown makes wearing the watch very comfortable. You will notice the difference it does not dig into the back of your hand. Very light weight. So far very pleased, I like this much better than my Luminox and Chase Durer watchs. Appears to be well made and the movement is flawless. For a $199.00 price tag shipped from Switzerland I feel this is a good value.

I hadn't heard of Tawatec watches, and was a bit skeptical about purchasing this one, but all the great reviews enticed me to give it a try. Boy am I happy with my decision! I previously owned a Luminox watch - nothing high end, just a bottom of the line Luminox - which was comparable in price to this one. The quality of the Luminox was nowhere near the Tawatec. The second hand aligns so closely to the numbers and tick marks that I'd have to call it near perfect. The gas tubes are so bright that they actually glow through my bed sheets! No kidding, I can't read the time through the sheet, but the glow of the watch is unmistakeable. It's bright enough that I can actually read the time from 10 feet away in the dark! The watch is relatively large, but it's not heavy, and it's made with quality materials that feel as though it will take a bit of a beating. It's very comfortable to wear, and I really like the offset crown, which prevents it from digging into my wrist. My only dislike, and I'm being really critical here, is that the crown doesn't screw down, so I doubt it's actually water-proof. That being said, I just don't swim, shower or bathe while wearing the watch. In my honest opinion, this watch is worth every penny I paid, and I'm very happy with it.

Product: TAWATEC E.O.Diver TWT.43.B6.11G (i.e. Green and Orange Tritium tubes, Rubber Wrist Strap)
I'm no watch expert; this is the first watch I've ever bought for myself. I wanted a decent watch that glowed of its own power without a button press or "charging dye". My brother pointed me to Tritium illumination. I looked at a few and decided on this watch primarily because of a host of good reviews and the basic functions that the watch presented.
I was originally attracted toward the same model with blue Tritium tubes on the number markers and second hand, a green minute hand and bezel marker, an orange hour hand and a red twelve marker. I saw some pictures of that model and it appeared that the blue markers were innately dim, and I thought the multi-colored hands and the twelve o'clock notch were a bit much. The green and orange tritium tubes have a real bright glow to them while not being distractingly bright; if it's dark I can read it without issue (even while still half drunk from sleep). Blue has a naturally lower intensity, so I felt the green was the way to go.
The band is a comfortable and supple rubber; it has two slips for the excess material to rest in while on your wrist. I have a medium to small wrist, and I tend to use the notches furthest up the band, but with the extra slip the band is held in place quite attractively and efficiently.
One thing about this watch that I really like is that the second hand ticks precisely on each successive minute marker, I've had watches in the past that were always ticking in between the markers, it may make no practical difference in terms of accurate time telling, but aesthetically speaking E.O. Diver's precise execution in this field pleases me greatly. Also, on the topic of precise time keeping I've had this watch for twenty-one days and I've noticed no +/- in the time keeping.
I'll be sure to update if anything changes, but at the time of this writing the E.O. Diver operates wonderfully, the crown functions are all smooth and present no innate faults or hiccups, the time is as accurate as I'd hope for in a wrist watch, and I'm extremely pleased with the level of illumination given from the green tubes.

Perfect size for 7 to 8 inch wrist and very well made. Tritium rods visible even in dim light and not overly bright in total darkness, I would say just right. Extremely easy to read, nice positive clicks with the one direction bezel all hands line up with markers perfectly and extremely lite on the wrist. For those who are looking into a Luminox or Traser and are worried about the smaller size as I was. The Tawatec fit the bill perfectly, I highly recommend.
Big Difference! But Follow Up Issue

The Tawatec is MUCH brighter than the Traser H3. Significantly so. Not to say that all Traser products are as bad as the H3 I recently returned but I really don't have any other experiences with Traser. Anybody have any thoughts?
Okay, I hope this was just a fluke but the hour hand is definately not in sync with the minute hand. When the minute hand is at 12:00 the hour hand is about 30% PAST the hour. Gee, what a deal breaker. Had to return it. Don't let this discourage you however, likely just a rare fluke that missed the inspectors.
Worth the money spent!

The watch is actually larger than what pictures on Amazon may have you believe. And that's a good thing. It's very easy to see time in daylight and at night. Watch is very light, crown is located off center and that is a good thing too!! Rubber strap is very high quality, has 2 loops.
All in all - the watch is very accurate, pleasure to use and looks great.
I was considering a few other watches but am very happy with my choice and purchase, which doesn't happen very often :)
Sturdy, Lightweight and Bright Tritium

First off, this watch only took about 36 Hours from the time I ordered it, to it arriving at my front door. I was expecting it to take a few weeks at the very least. Overall, this Tawatec was surprisingly light for its relatively large face size. The strap is comfortable and the bezel has a rugged feel to it. I compared the brightness of the tritium tubes to a luminox and I would say they are significantly brighter, but it is still darker than a freshly charged glow-in-the-dark watch.
Another great sign was that the second, minute and hour hands all align at 12:00 perfectly and the date has a solid feel to it as well. For the price, this watch is pretty amazing.
