When I saw the name of this product, I thought it was going to be an off-brand silly putty meaning it has the same or similar consistency but it's cheaper. When I saw the product picture, I then thought that it was going to be more like a gooey, almost liquid slime. As it turns out, this isn't like either of those. If you remember Gak from the 90's, it's pretty much exactly like that. The texture, the way it acts, even the way it smells, all reminds me of Gak. It even pop like Gak. If you don't know or don't remember Gak, it's like silly putty in that if you leave it alone it will kind of "melt" out and get liquid looking and if you pull on it fast it snaps apart instead of stretching as it does when you pull it slowly. The main difference is in how it feels in the hand how it smells. It's hard to explain the difference in how it feels, but it's cooler to the touch and feels almost wet. I can only think to compare the smell of it to cheap hair gel. Like the kind that comes in the big tub. It's not quite so intense though.
The color was another thing I wasn't sure about. In the picture, it looks like the putty is a metallic gold color and when you crack it open it reveals this metallic swirl of colors that is somehow hidden inside this gold putty if you see it at the right angle or something. Like an oil slick. At least that was the impression I got. Turns out, it's very nearly the opposite. The putty balls I received were all swirled with different colors initially and not gold. After playing with the putty for just a few seconds I could tell that it is the swirl of a few different colored puttys and if you continue to knead it, the colors will blend together into a golden color. I attached pictures to show the color swirl of the putty and what it looks like after only a couple of minutes of playing with it lightly.
Another thing to note is that this will dry out if not kept sealed. It will become stiff and break apart and not be pliable anymore. So don't expect the putty to last a long time. Also, I did receive 12 balls, I took the picture of the bag after I took one out to play with.
I bought these putty balls as cheap, fun stocking stuffers. I was originally going to get silly putty but these were a quarter of the price, so I figured I'd take a chance on these despite the mixed reviews. I wasn't sure what I wasn't going to get, but the quality was actually better than I expected. All in all, the product may not have matched my expectations, but my standards were low.
Messed up product!

I bought this product and it came in a ziplock bag all messed up. A couple of the pods were opened and the putty spilled out and was all over the ziplock. Some of the pods were stuck to each other. Very disappointing. I could only save a few pods, but still did not have enough to use for party goodie bags.
Dries out very quickly

I'm an adult, just like having squishy putty to play with while reading or watching tv. I've been looking for a quality product for a while, and this isn't it. The colors and initial cool, wet texture are nice. The color understandably runs together after a few minutes of kneading and becomes a sort of lilac/lavender. Not very stretchy either--snaps off if you don't stretch very slowly.
My main problem is how quickly this dries up, even if you put it right back in the plastic ball after using. After a couple of days' use it shrinks and loses elasticity. Adding water doesn't help, just makes the surface feel slimy. In fact, after spraying some with water and replacing it in the plastic ball, I found the surface grown over with blue and white mold.
This might be a fun prize for a birthday party, but don't expect it to last beyond a couple of days. Hopefully there's something more durable out there.
Novelty wears off quickly then not interesting

I thought this was a winner but after about 10 or 15 minutes the kids were done and haven't been back to play with the "putty" more than once or twice in the last month. They are really pretty even after the rainbow of colors blends into one still iridescent color and they don't smell as weird as some of the others but they do smell and so do your hands. The "putty" isn't good for much of anything more than squishing. You can stretch it if you go slowly or let it warm up but it breaks easily. It didn't make much sound which was a let down to some of the kids who were expecting some sort of noise from squishing it. You can't shape it or pick up words with it though it will keep faint indentations when pressed on something. It is oddly cooler temp-wise which is momentarily fun and it stays slightly wet. You can bounce it but not more than a few inches. It isn't even as fun to squish as other putties or even cornstarch in a balloon. I guess you could roll it. I wouldn't buy it again nor would I have bought it if I had played with it first.
Good toy for a range of ages

Fun product for party gift bags, Easter egg baskets, etc. Our colors were separate as pictured when we got the balls, but the colors do all blend together after the putty is played with. My five year old can play with slime/putty like this for hours with little plastic toys on a large plate, and make very little mess. Would buy again (because eventually she always leaves it out and it dries up over time). Price on these seems to vary and I would look for one of the times when it is LESS than a dollar a ball, which seems a bit steep to me.
Good stuff!

Perfect size ball of Gak-like goo! We had so much fun opening these and playing. The consistency is great... not silly putty, but more like Gak. When you pull a piece off, it breaks instead of stretches. But the best part about this stuff is that it bounces!!! Roll it in a ball and drop to watch it bounce in all different directions. So fun! Only complaint is that the colors aren't quite as vibrant as the picture, it's more of a dull finish once out of the plastic container.
Great party favors

Great price, we put these in our daughter's birthday party favor bags (science theme). The picture shows them looking almost liquid-y, but they are more texturally close to a silly putty. The iridescence loses a little (but not all) vibrance after some play. My daughter has played with it several times. It's kind of tough to get the stuff back into the container without some pinching in the edges when closed, so some can get dried out.

Bought these as a party favor for school party and they are great for the price. My 8 year old loves the "goo putty" and it stays fresh in the ball. Needless to say, I expect most of the kids to get bored with it or mess it up within a couple of days, but for the price, it works it our perfect. The color is fun and although other reviews complained of an odor, it's not that bad. Keep in mind it's about the same size as a golf ball, just in case you are looking for something bigger.
Pretty but it's slime, not putty.

It's very pretty even after you mix the colors together, but it isn't like silly putty. It's much more like the texture of slime than putty. It stretches but only a little bit and it doesn't bounce.
Gorgeous color yet smaller in person...still a GREAT buy!

These look better in person a bit smaller but they are so soft and fun to play with! Make sure they don't touch the ground and that you put your name on the plastic shell so no one takes yours...just to make sure your germs aren't being distributed elsewhere! All in all great deal for a fun item...usually you pay $1 for one of these at the dollar store and they are NOT as soft or pretty. :) I would buy again if needed.
