Absolutely not a toy

BUY IT. Fun fun fun.

I purchased the SMG .22 a few years ago. I've put thousands of pellets through it and have not had a single bit of trouble with it. Considering it's a derivative of the ultra-reliable Tippmann paintball marker, and is in fact made in the same factory that manufactures Tippmann paintball products, its reliability is no surprise at all. I've fired full-auto firearms many times in the past, and they're a lot of fun. That fun lasts until you realize you just blasted through $100 worth of ammo in twenty minutes. It's a rich-man's hobby. The SMG .22, on the other hand is cheap as dirt to shoot and is so much fun it's almost obscene. Be aware though, it sort of bridges the gap between the less-dangerous pellet airguns and actual firearms. What I mean by that is the weapon fires each individual pellet at velocities comparable to other airguns (around 600 FPS), but since it's capable of stacking pellet after pellet in the same small area at 12 rounds per second, its potential lethality is far more of a danger than any conventional gas-powered pellet gun, and probably also surpasses some cartridge firearms too. What that means is that you MUST have a good backstop, and you MUST NOT get carried away and start blasting everything between earth and sky. I've sawn through two-by-fours with this weapon with no trouble at all. And don't ever forget that, despite being gas (or air) powered like any number of guns you can find at Cabela's or other big-box retailers, this weapon is in a class of its own. You might have no problem with your 10 year old kid kicking around the woods with his break-barrel air rifle, but the SMG should never be used by a kid except under the very-close supervision of an adult. One last thing, if you use a hard backstop or (like I do) a metal bullet trap for firing this weapon, you better be wearing your eye protection because you will be peppered with fragments splashing back at you. The first time I shot it I was standing about 30 feet away from my bullet trap, and ended up having to pluck and tweeze bits of lead out of my forehead. Having had the SMG .22 for around three years, I still love the thing and wouldn't trade it for a so-called real gun, ever.

It is as cool and fun as it looks

It is as cool and fun as it looks. But mine came with pellets already loaded in the belt. I put it together and it shot great with the exception that it gets stuck in full auto and only shoots about 5% of the pellets! I called the company and Air ordnance said that instead of replacing it they were going to adjust it and give me a few belts for free for my troubles... I opened the new box it came in. it was the same old gun, no free belts. Whatever , right, as long as they fixed it.... Not fixed at all. I screw the CO2 tank on and with the safety on it fired without me touching it! Then I loaded it and shot it and it did not shoot95% of the pellets. Now 600$ is a lot for a pellet gun but nothing compared to the work to order co2 fill the co2 order extra belts extra pellets get it back to them and then get the same issue as before. What do I do now? Pay for shipping it AGAIN and wait for it AGAIN and hope that THIS TIME they fix it?

The pic is all the pellets in the belt after it has been shot.

WOW!!!!!!!. Everything that was advertised and more. Adjusted the speed control half a turn, and the speed was incredible. Very accurate with single shot. Shot a complete belt, no jams or missed shots. Love it so far.

AWESOME. SLOWER RATE OF FIRE THAN MY DROZD BLACK BIRD AND WITH ALLOY PELLETS AND AN SHP ninja tank regulated at 1100psi instead of 800, I can just get the pellet to try itself in the wood 4x4 I was shooting at.. id hoped for an inch of penetration...im hoping I can learn how to power tune this thing....

Jama more than it fires. Only shoots about half ...

Jama more than it fires. Only shoots about half the pellets in the belt and I have been using differ ends of .22 pellets. The speed loader is worthless as about a quarter of the pellets fall in backwards. The drum cam all scratched and dented. You can't really call this a sub machine gun as it will barely fire five rounds in a row. I have a feeling the guns in all the air ordinance vids were one-offs hand made to a higher production standard.

Highly recommended. ive fired full belts in full auto at least a hundred times and its only jammed once so far. i bet with HPA instead of co2 you could get 800 fps out of this thing. shot count would suffer, but i bet it would do it. i havnt tried it yet but im going to. FULLY AUTOMATIC MACHINE GUN! it comes with everything you need to start shooting(except the actual co2). co2 refills are like $5 at the paintball shop, or find a BIG co2 tank and regulator and fill your own for like $1...FULLY AUTOMATIC MACHINE GUN! isnt that enough?

The SMG 22 is a lot of fun to shoot
by D. Hobbs (5 out of 5 stars)

The SMG 22 is a lot of fun to shoot. It feeds reliably, and is surprisingly accurate. When stacked against a Umarex Storm or Baikal Drozd,it is by far better made and superior in function. I run mine with a ninja paintball 48ci hpa system and found that 3000psi is good for about 3 belts. Speaking if which, a chief complaint seems to be loading the belts; after filling 250 round canvas belts for a 1919A4 by hand, filling the Tippman plastic links is comparably easier. Overall I'm very happy with my Purchase.

One of the coolest things I've had the pleasure of operating in years. Delightful stress release. They're really picky about verifying your address even though you order on amazon or pay with paypal- so be ready to not receive your order, and have to call in a week later to verify your identity. Aside from that... enjoY!
