You will receive a live healthy adult sized Venus Flytrap Plant. It comes with a 3 inch net pot, just like the one in the picture, moss appropriate for carnivorous plant soil loosely packed, and a full page detailed caresheet, written by an experienced Venus Flytrap grower specifically designed for beginners, explaining how to take care of Venus Flytraps. All you will need is a bowl or saucer to hold the Venus Flytrap's pot that it comes with and a little bit of water, a gallon or so of reverse osmosis or distilled water, and a sunny window or a place in the yard to put your Venus Flytrap's pot in. Humidity domes and year round warm weather are not necessary. Don't be fooled by other offers for Venus Flytraps that have them arrive in or with terrariums or humidity domes. These type of plants have strong light requirements and it is a myth that they need high humidity. The truth is that Venus Flytrap setups with terrariums or humidity domes almost always cause these types of plants to eventually die. They need to be grown in open air with containers that allow air to get into their soil and there should be little to block or diffuse their lighting. Venus Flytraps take about 2-3 years from seed to reach a decent size. A kit with Venus Flytrap seeds is not going to quickly turn into a Venus Flytrap about the size of the one offered in this listing. A beginner new to Venus Flytraps should be aware that if Venus Flytrap seeds are bought, even with a kit, that it will take at least 2 1/2 to 3 years, assuming it is grown correctly, to reach the size of the Venus Flytraps offered in this listing.

I have a garden window in my kitchen that fills with flies, Oklahoma's state bird (just kidding),every summer. This year, I had an epiphany: get a Venus Fly Catcher. But I didn't want a baby one that would have to grow up first, I wanted one that would be ready to go in a matter of days. That's exactly what I got! As you can see, there are eight traps (One succumbed during the trip!) and one coming on. I am very pleased with this plant. It arrived with its own pot, moss for the pot, and complete instructions, so I didn't have to go searching on the internet for instructions. No worries here. Get one!

I didn't hinnk it was possible to get live plants in this good a shape. I'll just keep it short and sweet. I got just what I ordered. And the quality surpassed my expectations. I also got an extra. You won't be disappointed. Joel also seems eager to help. Must buy.

I am now coming back with an update for you guys. I have some pictures of Joel's plants ranging from just under a week to a little over two months and they are thriving. I'll keep it short and sweet again. Joel knows what he's talking about. Follow his directions and you can't go wrong. I have some pictures for you as well. These plants aren't hard to grow, they're just a little picky about their conditions. I live in Louisiana with sweltering heat; they like to live inside and peep out the window during the heat of the day...just food for thought. But what can I say?! I'm addicted now!

Pretty Good!

This was the first time I purchased a carnivorous plant. I was skeptical whether it really survive in my NYC apartment, but it is doing pretty well. Everything I need to grow the venus flytrap came with the package with very detailed instruction. The only thing I needed to prepare was a dish to put the planter basket on and distilled water. Even though I think the plant is not eating any fly so far, it keeps growing. Since it arrived here, I saw several new traps came out, and old traps perished. Now it's getting into fall and winter, and I am curious how the plant will do. But I am very happy with my purchase and it was definitely more than I expected.

This is my first Venus Fly Trap, and it's doing very well so far. Joel provided excellent directions, and his videos online are extremely helpful. He contacted me when he shipped it so that I would keep an eye out for it and bring it in right away. I watched his video on setting it up while I set it up. His instructions and video are exactly what a first-timer like me needed. He also reached out after the package was delivered to make sure I brought it in and set it up. The service I received was excellent, and the plant I received was healthy and of excellent quality. Joel seems to be very responsive and eager to help his customers. I highly, highly recommend Joel's Carnivorous Plants, and I recommend you read his instructions closely and watch the videos. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Growing Quickly

I would definitely recommend this as the way to go for somebody who doesn't have a green thumb or just doesn't want to wait years to get a cool looking adult sized venus flytrap. Many months ago, I bought my husband a carnivorous plant terrarium that came with seeds that you grow, and while he liked the gift, we waited like six months and none of the seeds sprouted. So, learn from my lesson.

I got this plant as a replacement gift, and my husband really likes it. I was a little bit skeptical about ordering it online, but the plant arrived in good shape. The instructions were easy to follow, and the plant really perked up and started growing quickly after getting some sunlight. It's also managed to catch some bugs already.

I was at first disappointed when I saw how small the box was, but when I read the instructions and watched the video, it all became clear to me.

When I opened the package I noticed that it was packed much better than the video showed. It was well protected from the heat. These plants were not going to dry up in intense heat we are having here in Louisiana right now. They looked great when I planted them. They seem to be very healthy now. I followed the instructions and they are in a window now and beginning to open already. I will try my best to keep them alive doing everything I was told to do for them. I cant wait to see them wipe out my fly infestation on my porch.
"UPDATE" Before the sun set, the only trap that was opened already had a fly on it and it is still there this morning. It is not in the trap, but on top of it. Seems to be in a trance or something. It didnt go into the trap, but will not leave it. Matter of time before we have our first funeral.

The Venus Fly Trap came in perfectly healthy with multiple traps. I had it in a sunny window and at times put it outside when it was a warm day since it was only early April...eventually after the weather was warm enought I was able to keep it outside. Finally the plant was growing many new traps and before you know it there was too many to count! Every day at least 1 or 2 traps would catch a bug! Very satisfied from the seller and now I have 7 more plants that I have been taking care of and another 1 coming in today!

There is a lot of conflicting information out there for the care of venus fly traps, and what sold me on buying this one was how many reviews said the seller is very responsive to any questions one may have.

This has absolutely been the case for me, multiple times. I'm thinking about buying some more traps, just for fun, and at this point, I won't even look at another seller.

I am utter and incredible impressed with the quality of this purchase!!! Beyond impressed!!!! If you are looking for a Venus Flytrap plant for yourself or a kid, this is the one to get! It came super packaged, with full instructions and a beautiful bloom of many flytraps. I bought this for my son for Christmas and he will be so happy to have this. This is way better than having a seed that does not bloom. this is perfect!!!

Update: Jan 24, 2016. This is still growing and has babies growing, but it does not look at good as when we got it in the mail. There is a learning curve to these VFT. But we are getting there. Only water this with Distilled water and put it in a window that gets nice light. I had moved this into a window that has frosted glass on it and this little guy didnt like it, so I moved it again. We might be buying a grow light for this, but for right now its in a different window, but I want to move it, cause it is a window we never see. Also read, not to feed it right away and only feed it when its mouths are all the wide open. good to know. We are still very happy with our purchase and will buy again from this seller.

Not Worth The Price-Epic Fail

Received 2 very small plants. Provided everything seller suggested and plant still died. Bought 2 at Lowes for $2 each and they are thriving. I see from other reviews that seller never comes through on replacements so I am not even going to request one. Buy at your own risk is all I can say. I have numerous plants including other carnivorous ones and these have been the worst I've ever worked with.
