Actually a 2 1/2 rating.This pillow is a lot thinner than I expected. I own a few other Memory Foam pillows as well as another reversible Gel/Memory foam pillow so I was disappointed when I opened the 2 huge boxes this pillow was shipped in only to see how thin it is. I wish I could have seen how thin the pillow is in person at a local store before buying it, but no store near me sells it. I saw the price had dropped on this pillow so I purchase it and I should have known that you get what you paid for.The pillow itself is not "cool" as advertised the way it comes. If you want the pillow to feel cool you need to use another pillow case on top of the one that comes with this pillow because if you use this pillow the way it comes, it always feels warm. Using another cotton pillow case allows the pillow to feel cool, but like all other pillows requires you to flip it over once it feels warm. I like the gel side of the pillow because it is firmer than the memory foam side and being that this pillow is not as thick as every other pillow I purchased online or at the store, the firmer side makes it tolerable to sleep with this pillow. Pillows are very important for sleep so if you like a pillow that is not thick, but thin then buy this one. If you prefer a pillow that is thicker than 3 inches thatn stay away from this one.

I bought this pillow over 5 years ago. I did not realize how important a great pillow was until I left it at my parents house who live out of town. I came home and started sleeping on a fluffy pillow my wife and I have had for years, probably a Target brand pillow. Within a couple of days I began to experience a significant amount of pain in my neck. I couldn't bear it so I went and bought a shredded memory foam pillow from Costco. This was better than the one I was using but just didn't do it for me. Finally got my Sleep Innovations pillow back from my parents house and it's amazing how quickly my neck returned to normal. Do not pass up on this pillow! I'm at stomach and side sleeper and this pillow has worked miracles. I don't sleep well without it!

What a pain in the neck!

When I first got this pillow I was a little disappointed at how dense and heavy it was, and not as thick as I would have expected for neck support. My parents have a similar pillows from the same maker at their vacation home and I thought these would be the same quality, but they are not. There is no neck support at all and it is hard and lacking the soft cushiony feel I wanted. After using these pillows for about a month, I started to suffer from chronic neck pain. As time went on, the pain became increasingly worse and I decided to switch back to my own pillow. As soon as I made the switch my neck pain, which was now reaching down my back, had begun to subside. If you like a hard pillow with little to no neck support than this is the pillow for you....Its just not for me.

I got this pillow maybe 5 years ago and it is amazing. I ordered one for visiting family. Then my 4 year old was always stealing my pillow and my 1 year old tries to sleep on it. So I ordered two more. I hope I never have to sleep on a different pillow because they are amazing! They definitely are less firm after several years. The harder side gets to be closer to the softer side. With the original one I have a hard time telling the difference, which is fine with me.

These are fantastic pillows. The gel keeps my noggin just cool enough that I don't find myself tossing & turning to find a cool spot on the bed. Also the pillow is firmer than I'd hoped it would be at th is price. I have a hard time finding pillows that aren't sinking down in the middle inside if two weeks. I sleep with these every single day & love them. Thank you!

This is the most comfortable pillow I have every slept on. It was recommended by my DC's wife. Never thought I could sleep on a pillow this flat but I feel a whole lot better. The cool side is refreshing. Highly recommend and the standard size is perfect. No more scrunching of my pillow. The more you use it, the better it gets.

Gel is great for migraine sufferers

My son is on the autism spectrum, and has migraines. This pillow is perfect for him. It is just soft enough, but cool enough with the gel pad to help him sleep off the migraines easier. I would be willing to purchase another pillow like this one, or sample similar products and write a review. This pillow has been very useful. I had originally purchased it for myself, but when I saw the benefits it gave my son, I gladly gave it to him.

Ridiculously comfortable; I have another memory foam gel king sized pillow a little larger, however it has shredded foam (though it is fresh cut not scraps and aligned specially) and it's better for like my back but this one feels leagues better under my jead and neck being thick, plush, springing back i to shape, and slim enough not to strech my neck at a high angle. I really don't know what else to say other than that I wouldn't hesitate to have paid double for this thing, and I honestly don't know of any better materials or kind of pillow than this one.

I'm used to a firm memory foam pillow and this was a replacement. The contour variety I recently received was clearly a low density foam compared to the previous version I had used So I sent it back. This pillow does satisfy the firmness that I require. Being foam, I expected a little bit of the new foam odor but this time it was exceptionally noxious. It had that new foam plus a moldy smell. I put it under my ionizer airflow for two or three days and it reduced it. I washed the pillow covers and it still has a slight odor. probably in another six months it will not. I should think that manufacturers should Automatically "condition" these pillows before sending them to a customer. Most people would not tolerate it and would send it back. I try to be a little bit flexible in this regard but this is fair warning to those who are not.

My new Sleep Inovations Memory Foam Pillow arrived two days ago. This pillow is sooo supportive and comfortable. I've had two nights in a row now of sleeping soundly thru the night. And there was no "smell" off the pillow. Only thing wrong was the pillowcase size. I will need to get a bigger pillowcase for it.
