An unexpected aspect of safetyby M. P. (4 out of 5 stars)

This umbrella is sized for one person, as opposed to a big golf umbrella or something. It seems to be relatively well built and I believe it will hold up as well as any other "good quality" umbrella. I got it for my wife. We live in the Northwest, where days get short in the winter and it's often raining. This has her walking in the dark to-and-from her bus stop. The obvious point of safety is the visibility. There's about zero chance she'll accidentally get hit by a car while using this umbrella. The unexpected aspect of safety is creep repellency. There's no scientific study or anything, but my wife feels like this thing repels creeps. I suppose predators don't like to be in the spotlight or attract a lot of attention. Instead, they look for stealthy ways to be goons so they don't get seen or caught. Because this umbrella creates a lot of visibility and attracts a lot of attention, the thought is that creeps will avoid my wife as a potential target.
The image on the website makes the umbrella appear as though it puts out a LOT of light. That's not the case, but it does put out plenty of light for the purpose it's designed for.
Really cool umbrella but a little hard to get and keep open

I bought this umbrella as a gift for my brother since he lives in the city and walks around at night a lot. We were able to get the batteries in with no problem (it does require a small flat head screw driver but that wasn't a problem since I had one). The light also installed easily. My only concern is that he seemed to have a bit of trouble getting the umbrella to stay open. I also wish the umbrella was a little bigger. We haven't had a lot of rain since Christmas, so he hasn't had a chance to really use it, so we'll see once he does.
Sturdy and awesome

This umbrella is an awesome burger with a side of awesome sauce. It's much sturdier even than I expected, and it lights up well enough not only to make you REALLY visible but also even to illuminate your path. I even was able to close the umbrella and still use the light as a flashlight when the rain stopped. It was a little bit of a pain to get the batteries in but that might just have been because I was dropped a few times as a baby.
It's an umbrella....

It's an umbrella, so it does what its suppose to do, keep you dry. The lighting is dismal, nothing spectacular, it would be great if the lighting (bulbs) were on both sides of the umbrella which would give a better illuminating brightness. The reflecting markings on the umbrella are good. Wouldn't recommend this product because of the non-light factor if that's what you're looking for, that was the main reason for my purchase. Better off using a regular umbrella.
Nice umbrella, but not exactly what I wanted

This is a quality umbrella, sturdy construction, nice bright color. I've only had it for a week and used it once so far with only a minor issue (the latch to hold it open is hard to get to engage and stay open, but once you figure out how it works, it's ok).
From the online description I mistakenly thought this was "golf umbrella" size (fits 1 adult comfortably, or 2-3 people crowding beneath it), but this is not the case. Instead it is rather small, just big enough for one adult.
The light idea is a good one, but it uses an old style glass light bulb rather than LEDs. The glass bulb is exposed inside with no protection from breakage.
If it had an LED instead and was golf sized, I would rate it a 5.
Its not as good as the picture

Yes, It doesn't have any probem with the umbrella in its function
But its not as bright as its shown in the picture
its just a small light bulb that is attached to your umbrella.
Also you have to have a small screw driver to open the lid of the umbrella to insert the batteries
So cute

I live in an English village where the lights at turned off at midnight. No lie. Sometimes the night at the pub lasts longer than midnight. I use this umbrella not only to shield my precious body from the rain, but to also light my way home.
What a great idea

I spent a few minutes trying to figure out why the light didn't come on when I finally figured out I needed to install the bulb. It would be helpful to have some kind of note telling you. The umbrella is very visible and I wish I had thought of it. Very well made and will be telling all my friends about it. Added benifit: looks great as a lazer sword at night.
Bright Night Unbrella (BN-002) Review

PROS: Very visible in daylight and the single light should make nighttime visibility good. Umbrella seems to be well constructed (time will tell). CONS: Light bulb is incandescent, would be better if LED. Could be a bit heavier duty and larger. OVERALL: On a 1-10 scale rates an 8.75.
