Enjoy the beach without the Hassle- Best purchase I've made on Amazon.by DKing (5 out of 5 stars)

This little wagon made our beach trip a totally different experience. Other people had wagons with the thin, gripped wheels and they ended up bogged down in soft sand. This wagon is made with wide, smooth wheels with two narrow front wheels that glide over even the softest sand. As much as I love the beach, walking thru soft sand is a workout, and dragging chairs, coolers, blankets, beach bags, body boards, etc can really be a hassle that is physically exhausting. Our beach trip was hassle free.
The wagon is durable, easily folded, and comes w/ a cover. Some complained about the wheels not locking, but I store mine upside down (wheels up)- problem solved. It has cupholders on the side, a retractable handle for pulling, and is made exceptionally well. I researched extensively on beach carts and wagons and this was most definitely the clear winner. One of my main concerns was the ability to pull on soft sand. Other wagons and carts pulled on hard packed or wet sand, but got bogged down in thick, soft sand.
This wagon just glided across the softest, deep sand on the Emerald Coast in FWB/ Destin with no problem. Anyone who has visited the area knows the soft, white sand is thick and powdery like sugar. It was no match for the BeachComber. This wagon held everything we needed all day on the beach. It saved us several trips back and forth to our 6th floor room and we were able to enjoy our day on the beach and relax without the hassle of multiple trips to our room and the physical exhaustion of dragging chairs, bags, etc. One of the best purchases I have ever made on Amazon.
Do NOT buy!!!!!!!

Do NOT buy this cart. Biggest mistake I made. First of all when it came in the box was so thin and crappy that it was almost tore in half with the cart half way exposed (I regret not photographing). Not only that, I opened it and the clip that holds the handle up when not in use was already broke and unusable (As you can see in the first photo). I was not going to worry about it or complain because I figured I could make it work because my beach trip was only days away and no time to return and get a new one. Moving on...overall I was really excited. It folded up fairly small and super quick and easy, just a little heavier than I anticipated. I get it to the beach and load it up....great! It held our chairs and a small cooler (for 4 ppl). Headed down to the beach and it moved only fair across sand. Of course I expected to have a little resistance but not anything I couldn't handle. Anyhow on day 3....barely a week after arriving on my doorstep I was pulling it through the sand and the ENTIRE handle/wheel attachment completely fell off...see photos. What happens next? Trying to carry the entire wagon with our chairs and cooler in it was VERY problematic and took a great deal of time considering we were not parked right on the beach and had to walk almost a half mile. I am so disappointed and want a FULL refund. Now they want me to mail it back to get a refund. How? When the box was about tore in half and unusable. Now I have to find a box to try to fit it in just to send back this broken POS. So like I said..... don't do it. Pick a different cart!!!!
Mac Sports Beachcomber VS The Sandusky Beach Wagon! And The Winner Is...
by The Carpenter (4 out of 5 stars)

I have both the Mack Sports Beachcomber and the Sandusky Beach Wagon.
The Beachcomber has wider and taller wheels. Each wheel is 4.25" wide and 10" tall. This is equal to more than five Sandusky wheels which are 3.25 wide and 8 inches tall. The Sandusky wheels have deep slots that hold sand, while the Beachcombers slots are shallow and don't hold nearly as much sand. We really noticed the difference when we loaded them in the car.
The handle on the Beachcomber has a lock to hold it extended, the Sandusky just slides closed when released, very sloppy. The handle on the Sandusky seems stronger than the Beachcomber's handle and I believe the Sandusky handle will last longer. The pivot point on the Sandusky is heavier duty compared to the Beachcomber. The Beachcomber handle pulls from the axle and pulls the wheels out of the sand while the Sandusky digs into the sand.
The Beachcomber is easier to steer and is easier to pull than the Sandusky both on concrete and in the sand.
The frame on the Sandusky is ticker than on the Beachcomber but the Beachcomber's fit and finish are better than the almost homemade look of the Sandusky frame.
As for strength they both will hold more than they state. I am 243 pounds I got in both wagons and my wife, who is half my weight, pulled me with no problem on concrete with both wagons. She was able to pull me threw sand a little in the Beachcomber but could not pull me threw the same sand with the Sandusky. I believe the larger tires on the Beachcomber helped a lot in the sand. They are both noisy on the concrete.
The Sandusky, in the box, weighed 33 pounds while the Beachcomber weighed 28 pounds. That is five extra pounds of steel on the Sandusky, that can be looked at as a plus or a minus.
While the Sandusky is built stronger my favorite is the Beachcomber. It is easier to pull in the sand, and it steers better.
We take a lot of gear down to the beach, looks like we are moving, and we can load the Beachcomber with double the weight and it is still easier to pull than the Sandusky.
I was able to purchase the Beachcomber for $95 with free shipping on another site using my store credit card while the Sandusky was $99 with free shipping.

On our recent vacation to Coronado island, we were concerned with which wagon to buy? What will carry everything and not get stuck in the sand? After a bit of research, we purchased this wagon. I was not excited about the $120 price tag as it seemed a bit excessive when compared to the other lower price point options. But I will say that this wagon did everything we needed it to do and more. When you hit the beach and the soft sand, it is tough to pull any wagon through that is loaded up. Our 14yo lad did a great job. One thing I noticed while he was pulling everything is that while it was tougher, the wheels continued to turn. They did not get bogged down. While at the beach, I would watch others using their wagons only to see that their smaller and skinner wheels would get stuck in the sand and stop turning. This turns a relatively straightforward exercise into literally dragging dead weight through the sand.
Back to our story, our son was able to pull our wagon through the soft sand. The wagon carried our cooler (ice/drinks/sandwiches) along with 3 full sized boogie boards, all the sand tools, towels, footballs etc. I would follow behind the lad while he was pulling and I positioned the umbrella so it was sticking out the back of the wagon. This allowed me to "help" by putting my hand on the umbrella (out the back) and help give a little push while he is pulling. This was MORE than enough to lighten the load and get the wagon through the soft sand. Once you get near the water, the wagon takes minimal effort to roll to your final destination. Pulling the wagon on hard ground is a breeze.
Now we read some stories on how this wagon is set up with the front wheels positioned inside the outside wheels. This CAN cause a tip over if you do not probably load up the wagon. Put all of your heavier items (cooler with ice/food) and 3 boogie boards in back and that eliminates (or significantly minimizes) the wagon's ability to tip. For the week we were in Coronado, our 14yo lad tipped the wagon once on Day 1. As he was still learning on how to drive the wagon, he learned what not to do and never again tipped the wagon over for the remaining six days. So that is a non issue for us.
Truth be told, while the $120 is a stiff price to pay, this wagon is top of the line. We had a few people on the beach ask us about it as they were impressed. Once you are done using it, you grab the metal white bars in front and back and the wagon collapses down like an accordion. The wagon comes with with external sleeve that you slide over the collapsed wagon to secure it for packing in your car or at home. This really is a slick wagon once you get past the $120 price tag.
MEGA Upgrade for family beach trips!

Great Cart! It folds up nicely, opens up easily, turns dependably, holds plenty of stuff and is quality built!
The big tires and tall stance came in handy when the beach path took us through some tide pools, about 10" of standing water. I took it slow and the wagon pulled right through and kept everything high and dry!
Sullivan's Island, SC has pretty fine sand, and in most places it was pretty well packed. The cart pulled easily and handled the soft fluffy parts well too. We are very happy not to be toting arm loads for 3 blocks from the car to the beach!
Easy to rinse off and stow, even in the back of my Beetle.
The handle works well, extends and locks into infinite positions. I like how it stays up too and locks into a storage mode.
We hauled a set of beach chairs, small cooler, bag of towels and snacks, 2 boogie boards, 3 tumblers of ice water and more!
Only con is that it is loud on the pavement, kind of like the old Big Wheels Trikes from the 80's.
Great Cart for the Beach

This is an excellent cart for transporting stuff to the beach. The large wheels don't dig into the sand like other beach carts. It glides effortlessly on paved surfaces but will require some effort to get it moving through the sand, as expected. I compared this cart to a very similar looking one from Sam's, this one is more expensive but worth it for a number a reasons. It will last longer, has better tires, better quality materials, etc. Follow the directions and store heavy items in the back, I didn't and it flipped backwards when I was pulling it up a little sand dune. Customer service at Mac Sports went above and beyond what is expected when I had some issues with shipping. I appreciate their extra effort in making sure this arrived on time for my beach vacation. Buy this cart and you won't be disappointed.

This wagon does not work well. The way the front wheels are close together, it makes the wagon tip over. We used this wagon at the beach last week and it tipped over every time we used it, the first time with a cooler full of ice and drinks, which ended up all over the sand. To say we were unhappy is an understatement.
I would not recommend this wagon and plan on checking into sending it back.
Not for soft sand, even with 80 lbs. gear...

Unfortunately, I believed the reviews. It's performance is abysmal. 80 lbs, heaviest over back axel, struggled mightily to move 150 ft. on dry sand beach. Took two men, though older we are, long hard breathing, got assistance 2 times. This wagon dig in, I was wishing for skies, instead of big tippy wheels. It stores nicely, but rest assured, those 2 front wheels paired together, is the main reason, the wagon tipped over 3 times, dumping all our mining equipment, as it easily falls. Totally surprised it tips Sooo easy. Yes, it's pretty, yes it stows and opens/closes very easily. Lots of room for gear. All that is 5 star, but the disappointing actual performance on dry sand, borders on pitiful. I will use it in better adapted circumstances, wet sand beach, sidewalk. BTW, We did not stack it over 1 ft. above the sides.
WAS SUPER EXCITED TO USE THIS WAGON

WE JUST GOT BACK FROM FLORIDA. WAS SUPER EXCITED TO USE THIS WAGON. IT TOOK TWO PEOPLE TO PUSH/PULL IT ON THE LOOSE SAND. MUCH HARDER THAN I WAS EXPECTING ON THE SAND. IT DOES WORK WELL ON PACKED/WET SAND.
A little drag on sand. Great on other surfaces.

If you bought this cart for everyday use to help with groceries or the occasional help with heavy loading and unloading, it's awesome. You still have to pull the front wheels over curbs as the wheels do no roll over though, so the heavier the load, the harder it would be to get over curbs if no ramp is available.
For the thick sandy beach...the wheels do not sink but the resistance is significant. I haven't used any other cart to compare on sand so I can't say how it compares to other options. I do think you have to be an adult and strong to pull it over sand. I had two small folding chairs, two towel bags, my purse, a book, beach umbrella. So the load wasn't even that bad. I definitely would not recommend a heavy load on sand. I'm not a petite woman but I couldn't get it up a sandy hill. I had to use an alternative flatter route to the car. Once on hard surfaces, it's rolls almost effortless. So you either have to be a strong person or not use it one soft sand surfaces. I would say it's only a little bit more convenient than hauling the stuff yourself because of the significant resistance on sand. It did not topple over. I was going too slow for that to happen.
Average is a 3.
Once you get the hang of the steering, it's pretty good on maneuverability (on hard surfaces). I wish it could stand up alone once folded up. Would have been much easier to store in the back of the SUV. Otherwise super easy to fold and unfold.
I only it three stars because I wanted it work well on soft sand. If rated for soft sand alone I would have given 2 stars or less. But I would have given it a four on hard surfaces. If it stood on its own once folded up and easily rolls over curbs, I would have given it a 5.
