Spent the money on this after so much debate and research and REALLY wish I wouldn't have. Poor sound quality turned into virtually no sound for no reason. The headphone jack is definitely not meant for auxiliary (loud buzz & clicking) and the output didn't give me any additional volume. I wasn't traveling with this thing, so I have no idea why it would have suddenly decided to just stop making making sound. Frankly, I don't see the value in investing the time or or additional money into finding out. I can just help you.
I have never purchased anything that went so badly so quickly in my life that was so expensive from such a reputable name. In my opinion you could do better buying anything else at all from any other other brand.

Having grown up with record players, I don't understand this trend, but my teenage daughter loves it. The record player itself works great. The speakers aren't the best, but at least it's compact and looks cute on her dresser. Records, though, are wicked expensive: 25 or 30 dollars a pop. What's up with that?
Sometimes it works great, mostly fails hard.

I've had this turntable for a few years now and I mostly thought that I was having a problem with the records I was buying. The sound quality isn't that great on this machine and it's because of the built-in speakers causing distortion. If you can suffer through weird pitch problems, skipping, and overall damaging of the records you put on this machine. Than absolutely make this purchase. But with a little research, you can easily find a better beginners system at a similar or cheaper price.

Junk. Absolute junk.
Gave this to my wife for Christmas. She used it the day after to play some 45's. Then out it away. Got it back out today and it won't play at all. The arm skips across albums and you can't keep it from doing so. Great Christmas gift. Didn't realize it was a one day item.
You get what you pay for.

I suppose it's ok if you really don't care about sound quality at all. It looks good, but that's about it. The quality of the player is pretty low, all plastic low-cost parts. It was already skipping the record using it just once, so the weight of the needle is all off. But the worst part is the built in speakers, they are absolutely awful. I have standards in my sound quality or I suppose I wouldn't care. I wouldn't recommend unless you only care about look and poor sound quality doesn't bother you much.
Great turntable with excellent sound quality!

I absolutely love this turntable! Straight away I loved how secure the packaging was. Not a scuff, dent, or any other kind of mark found it's way to my lovely turntable.
The turquoise color is absolutely amazing and it looks very vintage. I know some people were stating that the lid on their turntables were getting stuck, but that was not the case for me. Mine came with a thin piece of plastic in between the lid and the base which kept it from sticking.
There are two reasons why I didn't give this amazing turntable 5 stars.
#1 is that I feel like the lid doesn't go back far enough. Yes, the records spin clear of the lid, but I feel like the slightest movement could send the lid crashing down onto the record.
#2 is the fact that there isn't anywhere to store the plug in adapter. I love that the turntable is portable, but having to carry the adapter separately is a tad bit frustrating.
All in all, I highly recommend this turntable and I will be enjoying it for years to come!
Great phonograph for the price!

My granddaughter requested this for her birthday. I had no idea this type of phonograph was so popular again. She loves it! Of course it is not the big stero type set up that was so in in the late 60's, but it is the typical phonograph that I had as a teenager. It works well, serves the purpose that she wanted it for, and is worth the price that we paid. I still have about 50 record albums from the 60's that she can play.
Not worth it--terrible speakers

It is cute, it is portable, but the sound is lousy. The only other portable turntable I've owned was an old radio reproduction, and it was purchased from the ad on the back of Parade magazine. I thought that this would be an upgrade, and I purchased it because it was the top rated one. This suggests to me that, as a whole, inexpensive portable turntables are junk. Truly, it isn't worth it, and now I never listen to my records (the speakers on the one from Parade magazine was much better than this one and I got rid of it in a move). Save your pennies and buy a good one to hook into a stereo system.
Updated: blown speakers Original: Good turntable for the price.

Lightweight, easily portable, decent sound.
There are 3 ways to improve upon this item:
Add a built in compartment to hold the separate power cord.
Add a way to hold the slipmat in place while in transport.
Beef up the speakers... the current sound is good, but there is plenty of room for improvement.
This is worth the money I paid. I would recommend this and buy this product again
Update 6/20/12: lowered rating to 2 stars. After about 10-15 hours of use over several months, the left speaker blew out during a BTO rock session even without the speakers at full volume. I'll probably end up purchasing a new turntable as the sound quality is now unlistenable. Money not well spent.
Very cute but weird sound

I love the way it looks, matches with my other pale aqua stuff collection~
I down-graded to this from a Pro-Ject Debut III, since I couldn't be bothered to get a proper amp and speakers, I figured a cheaper portable record player would suit me much better (plus I like a more vintage look). Though I did find it a bit heavy... but I'm very weak so that's not saying much haha.
As for the sound, I don't know how to describe it... it's like a warped out-of-tune sound? It only happens sometimes, like when there is twangy instruments playing (like when I'm listening to John Lennon and George Harrison). And yes, I used the rubber pad thingy. If there is a way to fix this, I would love to know how..
