Wonderful chair for backpackingby Engineer Reviewer (5 out of 5 stars)

I wasn't sure about this chair when I ordered it. Reviews and videos indicated that it was strong and comfortable, so I decided to take a chance.
I'm sure glad I did. This chair is light, strong and relatively easy to assemble. It holds my 250 pounds comfortably. Granted, you will have to learn to balance a little to get it just right, but that's not too difficult. I spent four hours one evening on a remote backpacking trip in this chair, comfortably perched on a beautiful overlook. I fixed my dinner from the chair and ate in the chair. I even found a rock to lean against and take a nap. When it got cool I slipped my insulated pad into the chair.
Wonderful chair! I'm extremely happy and recommend it wholeheartedly.

As of September 2019, Alite is confirmed out of business. I got an email to that effect a few days ago. I'm really disappointed, as I love this chair, but it broke recently and is both unusable and now irreparable. I can't even get anyone to reply to emails about maybe shopping me some leftover spare parts. Reading had been downgraded to 1 star to hopefully get ppl's strength that this company and its items are dead.
Original review:
This chair is outstanding. I'm 6'0", 230-ish pounds and this chair holds me just fine. The 2 rounded feet help keep the chair from being pushed too far into soft soil. I really like the design idea, as it's not difficult at all to learn to use your own feet/body weight as the second pair of load bearers. And if you get really good you can even make yourself a little rocking chair. There's definitely a trick to getting into and out of it, but I think that's the case with most of these ultralight low-to-the-ground chairs. The low weight allowed me to make this chair one of my luxury items when backcountry hiking and I am absolutely glad I brought it along.
World's greatest camping chair.

These are great chairs made by a great company. I use mine quite a bit. I bought my first one many years ago (maybe 10?, It's been a while) and it's still going strong. In that time I've managed to break one or two segments of the aluminum tubing that makes up the frame. Each time Alite has sent me a new piece no questions asked. Fantastic customer service. It seems like the newer ones have a slightly beefier frame. I'm 170lbs and don't feel like I'm stressing the chair. I'd be nervous if you were much over 200.
The only other issue I'm having with my original chair is the coating on the fabric delaminating. This seems to be cosmetic, I'm not sure what purpose that coating serves on a chair, I suspect it's for waterproofing but it's really not needed for a chair. You don't want it to hold water. The new ones are the same way. Alite should find fabric that doesn't have this coating.
Other than that the fabric is in great shape. I haven't had a torn seam or any rips in the fabric itself. It's plenty strong.
I keep mine in the back of my car, it comes in handy all the time. It makes a great gift for outdoorsy folks. I consider myself a pretty minimalistic backpacker but this chair always goes with me. It's worth the weight.
Ehh. I guess.

It fit great and was comfortable. The only probably is it broke after maybe 2 months use. Yeah I wasn't using it as the occasional camping chair. I used it at my low computer desk. It still only broke after 2 months and I'm not a heavy guy. One of the legs just snapped and my butt hit the floor lol.
I'm pretty skinny probably only weighing about 138 lbs and I wasn't doing anything that crazy. My girlfriend would make fun of me calling it my "kid's chair," and I guess she was right. Let kids use it only I guess.
Best little chair!

We saw someone at the soccer fields with this chair and thought it was cool so I ordered one from Amazon! I love it. The main reason I love it, is because it folds up so tiny that I can fit it in my larger sized purse. Plus it's fun to sit in. I always get a lot of compliments on it, and people are always asking about it. It's also comfortable to sit in. Because it folds up so small, it will be perfect for camping and other sporting events. It's also small enough to store in the middle console of my jeep, so it's always with me!
Really comfortable and light.

Love being able to lounge around and enjoy a beer on the trail in this chair. And it is lighter to carry than the beer.
I thought two legs might have be a problem but find it a virtue. I can recline as much as I want and keeping balance doesn't take much effort.
If I just sink into it and stretch my legs out I could fall asleep. I also like how it works will on a slope as long as you are face down the hill.
This is the perfect chair for backpacking trips

This is the perfect chair for backpacking trips. After a long day I'm able to sit in it and lean back and actually rest my back and relax. I've tried a tri pod chair in the past and when I sat on it I couldn't rest my back or relax, it really wasn't any better than sitting on a log. When I first saw the price of this chair I was a little hesitant to purchase it but then I remembered using the tri pod chair and decided it would be worth it. After using it I have to say, it was worth every penny!
This is a great chair for what it is and in the right situation

This is a great chair for what it is and in the right situation. No, not as comfy and other larger chairs but this is intended to be small and light. Where is does shine is on uneven group or a slope, you don't need a flat spot like 4 legged chairs. It is compact, does not take up much space in my bike pannier or day pack. It is about the size of a liter bottle.
I wanted to not like this....

I really did. I have a friend who has a backpacking chair and it pissed me off because its a two something pound chair. I just cant justify adding the weight of that. Then i found this. After reading reviews, watching a video, i took a gamble and bought it.
WHAT. THE HECKING. HECK. It worked!!!! Its comfortable!!!! I would be angry but I'm too comfortable to be angry, so i resigned myself to being mildly irritable and yelling about the magnificence of this chair to anyone passing within earshot, god bless their poor souls, and to the evil, evil people who designed this amazing chair, damn you all.
Great for hiking/camping and as a spare chair around the house

I gave this as a Christmas present for my son (age 30+). As soon as he unwrapped it, he opened the box, set it up and spent the rest of the morning sitting in it as the celebration continued. He was delighted with it since he and his older brother do a lot of hiking and camping together with their families. I was surprised how light it was and how evidently comfortable. My old arthritic knees wouldn't allow me to use it very much so it is definitely designed for someone who can sit low to the ground and get up without any groaning.
On the whole... I would highly recommend it.
