This is a very nice looking knife, appears to be well built and is a lot more impressive in my hand than it was in the photos at Amazon. The knife came really well packaged, with quick delivery from the UK and it was as sharp as a razor blade, as I could shave with it right out of the package. I'm very happy with both of my knife purchases and I would highly recommend Perkin Knives to anyone who appreciates a fine blade.

This is a really beautiful knife. Shipping was fast and I received within in a few business days of ordering.
The knife feels very solid - no wiggle or loose parts as some reviews indicated. It feels like a great value for $80.
I haven't used extensively yet so don't know how long it will hold an edge but from what I have seen so far its a great knife.
Typical Fantastic Perkin Knife

PERKIN KNIVES = Another Home Run. My fourth from them. (5th on the way) I don't know how the price can be so low. Obviously handmade, each one is different. No 2 alike. Fit and finish seamless. Quirky? Yes, but in a good way. It's as if a 100 year old Master craftsman made it,specifically for my hand. They are THAT NICE. I put off mass produced knives to stock up on these. A fantastic gift to a loved one who may like a knife, if only to fiddle with and sit on their desk. There are a couple PERKIN nay-sayers who rate one star, or trash a knife by PERKIN. Ignore them. I believe they are false claims. Just buy 1 or 5. They are the REAL deal. Also: Get the expedited delivery, it's VERY prompt. Don't wait a month (their "regular" shipping) otherwise, it comes from Great Britain. I'm almost certain they are actually made in Pakistan.
Low quality carbon-steel. Rust city.

It's really low-quality carbon steel. And rusts within a week of using it. Looks great in pictures, but it's crap. I should have listened to a few of the reviews that told the truth. If you buy it, don't say I didn't warn you!
Beautiful. What you see in picture is what you get. Less the jewelry, of course.

DELIVERY: As with my first order the delivery was absolutely exceptional. The first knife came in four days after placing order. The second knife took another couple days because I ordered it late on a Friday. I live Calefornia and they are in merry old England so they were closed for the weekend when I placed the order. The knife still arrived on Friday. The got my order on Monday.
BLADE: a) Blade Length: 3-7/8 inches [ from handle to tip of blade ] b) Blade Thickness: .131-inch [ just over 1/8th inch, at thickest place just in front of the thumb actuator pin ] c) Blade Width: 1-5/32 inch, [ measured at thumb actuator pin.] d) Blade Appearance: My knife blade has an absolutely beautiful Damascus pattern on the blade which definitely complements the blades appearance.
DAMASCUS STEEL: Damascus Steel is very labor intensive and therefore very expensive to make. I remember back in the late nineteen seventies that Damascus Steel was just begining to be made again and the cutler called the "Damascus Midwife" (William F. Moran Jr.) was the man involved. To own one of his knives it would take something like a seven year lead-time and you should take a mortgage out on your house. Things have progressed to where now you can affordably a Damascus Steel knife. I bought my first one in about the year 2000. No, it wasn't cheap even at that time. The making of Damascus Steel requires many separate forging and many folding over steps to create it. That you can buy one now for what I consider a reasonable price for the average bear is wonderful.
HANDLE: a) Length: 4-5/8 inches [ from base of blade to end tip of handle, Note: parallel with back of blade.] I have rather long fingers and the handle gives me a very secure hold on the knife.
APPEARANCE: Knife looks exactly as shown in picture except that the Damascus pattern on blade is different, which is to be expected. Each Damascus blade will have its own "fingerprint." Handle and everything else other than pattern on the bolsters is exactly as shown in picture.
VALUE: The knife I have looks exactly as it does in the picture. So, what you see there is exactly what you get. And if you want it now. You got it now! Four to five days delivery time. It didn't take any time at all to get the knife limbered up and to be able to easily open it up with my thumb only. Very smooth activation.
CARE: I recommend going over all the metal parts with something like a Silver Cleaning Glove. Silver cleaning gloves do their work chemically so you don't do a whole lot of rubbing to get the job done; after-all you don't want to remove silver, you want to remove the tarnish. After the cleaning, oil the knife, and that put on a good heavy coat of Carnuba Wax and allow it to dry completely. Then, wipe it off gently. There are other products that will work in lieu of the Silver Gloves and I have something that works just as well, but the gloves are quite easy to come by. The gloves leave the knife with the patterns standing out from the flat metal in the Damascus due to the metal inside the Damascus pattern shining almost like stainless steel. It really works. Then keep the knife clean and always put on the Carnuba Wax after the cleaning. You will have an absolutely beautiful knife that you can be extremely proud of owning. I love my new knife and the other one from Perkin that I call "The Brassy."
Great Knife.

Impressive!

This is the first Perkin Knives product we've purchased, and I must say that we're impressed! The knife arrived surprisingly fast and carefully packed. And this handsome Damascus folding knife looks even better than the photographs depict it!
The beautiful Damascus blade is shaving-sharp right out of the box, and the fitment of all components is excellent. The fossilized mammoth bone grips are well fitted to the Damascus-detailed bolsters and brass frame, and they glow with a rich warmth. The brass liners are fashioned with ornate precision, and provide a beautiful detail to an elegant but functional, and collectable knife.
The blade locks up solidly, and pivots easily enough within the frame (an application of TUF-GLIDE improved this noticeably). There is no wobble to the opened blade, and it is well centered within the liners. The grind of the blade is highly symmetrical, and as I'd mentioned, it was plenty sharp right from the box. The brass blade lock/release is familiar and easy to operate.
The supplied leather sheath is unremarkable but nicely made, though its an incidental add-on to me.
The truth be told, this $80.00 handmade knife has superior workmanship to several of the better-known brand name knives, that have been delivered to me these past months--including one costing over 4X as much! This knife currently goes for up to $123.70, plus shipping, elsewhere on the net, so the Amazon deal is tough to beat!
This is a girthy, old-world style knife, and would not be among those I might carry in a jeans pocket, but that's not what I bought it for. What it is, is a finely crafted Damascus folding knife in a handy size, that I am pleased to add to my collection. It would make an excellent gift for the knife enthusiast on your list.
Based on the sample I received, the secure packaging, and the prompt service of the vendor, I would readily recommend this handsome and elegant Damascus folder to anyone considering an ornate but functional folding knife.

This is a nice knife, it came to me very sharp. I love the carrying holster too. No problems with anything (as of yet). Good gift idea for a knife collector or someone in need of a good knife.

It's so good I don't want to say too much about how good or they'll jack the price up to what it's worth for a hand made quality item from the native country of origin.
SEXY!
