Great product... (Updated...)by Arnell,Top Contributor: Camping (4 out of 5 stars)

This is a great product. I feel comfortable with this case when I first got it. The case is snug and seems pretty rugged. I don't particularly like the hard plastic feel, but it seems pretty sturdy if dropped. The only drawback is that I have put on a glass screen protector that makes this case a bit more snug. At times, it seems like the cover is not seating right. I can't blame the case itself, but I don't feel entirely safe putting this underwater in a real world situation. Keep this in mind if you have anything on your phone that may (even in the slightest) change the dimensions of your iPhone.
Update: I did this update, because I suspected the glass screen protector would cause some issues with the fit. I thought I'd update my review now that I've done a real world test. I intended to use this case while out fly fishing. This would include it being inside my waders with the potential of being submerged. It was also going to be used to record releasing fish underwater and recording in potentially rainy weather. Today, I used it underwater while releasing fish. As suspected, the glass screen protector didn't keep the back cover perfectly snug. That being said, it seemed to work with it's initial "sink test" and now with it's underwater test. It was only submerged a few feet underwater for a couple of minutes, but didn't leak a drop. I was shocked to see the clarity of the video and the sound above the water. I was pleasantly surprised.
Summary: I truly believe this is a waterproof case if everything is in order (hardware-wise: case and rubber seals - proper installation of iPhone 5(s)). In my situation, the addition of a glass screen saver has put a permanent pause and question on the ability of this case to function to it's full extent. As I initially noted, if you change the dimensions to your iPhone (ie: screen/body covers) it will most likely affect the intended fit. From my initial (sink) test to my real world test, it seemed to perform as advertised. That being said, I would not recommend using this particular case for others in the same situation. I'm willing to take that risk, but I could not advised to others to use this case under these same circumstances. As for audio and video... the audio was surprising clear above the water and the pictures and video did not seem affected at all. The functionality of the iPhone itself seem to work just as well. The only issue I did have was the upward swipe to initiate the Control Center. I simply couldn't initiate it. Using this case in wet conditions didn't help the hard plastic feel of the case. I'm going to put some gun tape on the case's edges to give it a little more grip. (Keep in mind, if you do this, you should not cover over where you see the rubber seal through the case. You need to see that seal to ensure the seal didn't roll and is seated properly.) Basically, had it not been for the included lanyard, I wouldn't feel as safe holding on to it. One last thing... if you're using an aftermarket plug, make sure it has the same form factor as the Apple OEM. The case will not accommodate larger plugs.
Lastly, I'd like to note that all waterproof cases will have some issues. Inherently there are issues you simply can't overcome because of the inherent nature of waterproofing a device. This review accepts these deficiencies. There will always be seals to pay attention to EVERY TIME you use it and take it apart. These seals are what makes/breaks the waterproofing. You will never have the best sound or perfect shape. You will never get a waterproof case that will fit your everyday use. It's my opinion, this case is just as good as any others on the market with the ability to go even deeper than the average 6 feet (most of you won't BTW).
A great value for vacation and/or pool-time use!

Sent my 16-year-old daughter to Costa Rica (school trip) with an iPhone 5S, and we all really wanted it to come back in one piece after all the zip-lining, beach exploring, rainforest downpours and general adventuring. I was grateful to take a few minutes with the case (encouraged, I suppose, by the small paperback manual that accompanies it!), and satisfied myself first with a water test, then sealed up her phone and sent her on her way.
It's true that the touch-screen "feel" is made a little bit sluggish or less responsive, but that goes without saying when you're dealing with waterproof protection. It's a nice touch that you can flip up the bottom flap and get surprising normal audio as soon as you do. She didn't use the screw-in headphone jack extender, but it's a really nice addition to the package.
Since three family members have a 5 or 5s, and since we have a pool (that's a new thing for us), we're excited to have a shareable wet case for our phones ready for any of us to use when we get the urge.
This case is a great value!
Beware the Fatal Achilles Heel!!! Beware!!!

This product is amazing in some ways and then absolutely horrendous in others. I see this to be a trend in all waterproof type phone cases. In this cases case :P, everything is good until you get to the simplest and most basic component, the charging port. This should have been the easiest thing to fool proof and yet after several weeks you will notice you can't even get it to stay closed anymore. Why?!?! out of all the things to go wrong why the biggest port?!? You couldn't have added a little clasp or just engineered the lip a little different? such a simple and stupid design flaw. My phone got mowed over and the only reason why it didn't survive was because the charging port (which already wasn't staying closed) was left open and it rained. If it weren't for this fatal flaw I would take it diving with me but the trust just isn't there. Sorry.
Water Damaged iPhone. Buy a real water proof case.

Simply put, this case IS NOT reliable. My use with this case resulted in a water damaged iPhone that no longer works. Luckily I had insurance but I'm still down a $175 deductible. The first time I tried this case water leaked into it. Not much, just a drop or two. Then I tried it again with my phone inside and it was perfectly dry. The thing about this case is that it is TERRIBLE for taking pictures. The point of this case was to take pictures with my phone on vacation, so I had to constantly take my phone out of the case to take pictures, and put it back in the case when not in use. Doing this introduces dirt and sand into the watertight seal whcih compromises the waterproofing. This is the only reason I gave it two stars, because I used this case in a way which it likely wasn't meant to be used (constantly opening and closing), so the result of a damaged iPhone was likely my own fault.
Again, if you are planning on taking pictures or video with your iPhone, DO NOT buy this case. The pictures come out with a huge glare and look terrible.
Appears good at first but then...

Okay so I'll admit, I was really happy with this case at first because everything about it was fine (with the exception of the tunnel sounds during calls on speaker and bulkiness). But after 6 months of having this case, I noticed moisture inside between the screen protector and my phone. Upon further examination I realized the plastic screen protector which is the flimsiest part of the phone was coming off of the case like it had been glued on. It wasn't a break or a split, so I imagine it was just glued this whole time. So that sucked. I contacted the company requesting a refund or a replacement but they refused saying it wasn't within their 30 day return policy. What rubbish. Won't be purchasing this again. I would rather spend more money on a case such as the lifeproof which lasts longer and is less bulky.
Poor access holes for standard off-the-shelf cables.

I can understand the attribute of being water-tight but off-the-shelf connectors such as head phones and charging cables don't work as the access holes aren't big enough! The case came with an extender that screws into the case for the headphone jack but it's about an inch and a half long. All they had to do was to make the threaded hole a little bit larger to accommodate standard headphones without an adapter. also, the access hole for the charging cable is too small and the access door to flip down only opens to a 90-degree opening. If it opened a little more, say 135-degrees, then a charging cable who's would fit just fine. However, if you buy one that's not "Apple" then it won't work. Needless to say, very disappointed with this design. It is well made and the access holes are designed to keep out moisture....but a little more forethought would have gained more stars. Unfortunately, i'll have to modify my connectors to fit into the holes of the case.
Amazing Case- Great photos. Great Price! Pictures to prove!

I friend and myself got this case for a trip we took to Greece for two weeks. His unfortunately came broken, the front screen was detached. Mine came fine, so I was skeptical at first. This was quickly overcome after I tested the case in the sink by placing a napkin inside and holding the case underwater for 30 minutes with a small weight.
I purchased a local simcard in Greece and planned on using my phone daily in this case. Once I put the case on, and knew it was secure I had no intentions of taking it out until after the trip. And so I did. I took this phone with me daily snorkeling. When I planned on taking pictures I was in airplane mode, which allowed me several hours at a time staying in camera mode. I'm not sure what other reviewers are talking about, I took over 400 pictures and they all came out fantastic. Crystal clear water. Make sure your flash is on! You'll get a nicer image. The video's I took were amazing. I couldn't be happier.
The case wasn't so big. Smaller then an otterbox so it still fit in my pocket nicely. It also came with a wrist strap, which I kept on my wrist when I was in the water at all times.
One frustrating thing was switching between photo and video while you're in the water. You can't do this underwater, you have to come up above water. When you're 1,000 feet offshore, in 40 foot water, it's not easy and get's extremely frustrating. However nothing's perfect which is why i'm not taking a star off for this. I got it to take pictures and it works! I found that if I quickly waved the phone to let it dry, and dried my hands in the air, I was able to make a quick switch. I got the
As a tip* when taking pictures I used the volume buttons to snap the images. It was much easier than clicking the red on screen button. Sound on the videos, underwater even came out really well. When on a phone call however I did get some complaints that the voice was a bit muffled. What I did often was open the microphone and battery ports to allow for more of the voices to travel through the case (when I wasn't in the water).
The inside of the case is a bit sticky, don't touch it with your fingers you'll smudge the case and it's nearly impossible to get the fingerprints off. This may be a reason why some people complain about blurry images.
The phone is rated at about 9 feet. I wouldn't suggest it, but I free dove down to about 20-30 feet with it and had no problem taking some quick photos and videos. I however wasn't down long, as I was on a single breathe. I wouldn't recommend using it scuba diving, the pressure being down that far too long may cause some problems.
Here's some photos from my trip in the case, both underwater with flash without flash and above water.

Overall great case, fully functional phone while inside

This case is great. The phone is fully functional while inside. You can use the front and back camera, the touch screen is still responsive, and you can even turn it on and off silent mode.
The only reason why I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the case can be easily scratched, so if your purpose is to take water/underwater photos, then you have to be careful not to scratch the case where the lens is, otherwise your photo will have that scratch in it.
Otherwise, I took my phone with me to go tubing, hung it on the side of my tube, hung it around my neck, my wrist, swam with it, and it held up VERY well. Would recommend this product to everyone.
A good solid case

Bought this case after managing to water log a different phone mistakenly and replacing it with a 5s. The case works perfectly and I have had no problems with people hearing me while the phone is in the case. I dropped this phone while at a soccer game and it fell about 5 feet on to the concrete floor.... No damage to the phone and the case was fine also. Took it with me swimming while I was in the Philippines and not a drop of water entered the case. The people complaining about the speaker port obviously did not notice the adapter that is provided so that you can connect a headset and still maintain the waterproof seal. I bought a couple after market chargers so that I can have spares and all fit fine and charge the phone while it is in the case. Maybe I have just been lucky, but for the costs and performance that I have experienced, i would buy this case again without hesitation.
Disappointed.

I bought this case before my trip to the Bahamas after reading many positive reviews. However, I was disappointed with the results. The case came in a nice sealed package, with a wristlet attachment on the side. It was brand new when I opened it with no faults or scratches. I read very carefully on how to test it before using and it passed the test. The next day, after drying it completely I put it on my phone. It took a couple of tries because the inside rubber ring kept shifting, but I eventually finally got it and took it on vacation. The first day, it worked fine in the pool, water didn't get in it and it took good pictures which is what I bought it for. That night, I took the case off to dry before my outing the next day. Before going to Atlantis, I put it back on my phone; again, it took a couple of tries because of the rubber ring constantly shifting. The reason I am not happy with this case is because at Atlantis, water kept getting in it, whether it was in a pool, or whether I took it on a water ride. I am lucky as the sun was so hot, it dried all the water out of my phone, but if there wasn't any sun, my phone would have been extremely damaged. It seems that this case is only good for one day because the rest of my vacation days, when I would keep testing it, water kept getting inside the case. Getting the case on the phone is very tricky because you have to make sure its super lock-tight, and if you don't do it perfectly (which takes very many tries) then water is guaranteed to get inside the case.
