Makes me wonder why they keep making modern turntables stupidly heavy and bulky
by Ultimus Prime (5 out of 5 stars)

This is a great device for what it is. It is portable in that you can carry it around (I'll recommend a case of bag) but you definitely can carry it around while playing like a CD player. I hooked it up by 3.5mm audio out to a Bose sound dock and the nostalgia from the old vinyl flooded the room and everyone present burst forth in joyful oldies songs. Stellar!

I Hope it Lasts

I know other people who have not had good luck with Crosley products and I am crazy enough to hope I have better luck with this model turntable. It is a really sweet compact unit. NOTE: It does NOT have built in speakers. You need to be able to hook this uo to some kind of speaker system via the ear phone jack. For some reason I found in my office the right USB cable to plug in the back. Then I purchased a USB wall plug adapter for less than $2 on ebay.

Wonderfully built, but sounds terrible

Wonderfully built, but sounds terrible. I tried changing needles and cartridges. Nothing helped. The sound was blurry and muffled. It's a shame. I really wanted this player to work well. I loved the finish and how sturdy it felt. But in the end, it's just a polished turd. I returned it and got a Sylvania one, which isn't built nearly as nicely, but it sure sounds great. That's what keeps the party going.

For What it's Worth it Could Have Been Better, Listen to the Other Reviews & Mine!
by Jeff (3 out of 5 stars)

Let me first start out by saying that I now own 3 record players and this is a very unique Portable turntable that I figured it would def be on the cheap end (material wise) to travel with and listen to records outside. Off the bat I was happy to open the box and its extremely lightweight! (the con for me on it being lightweight is that means everything is most likely cheaply/plastic made) It takes 4 batteries and like everyone else that said headphones was/wasn't included mine had a pair. Immediately popped in 4 brand new Quantium Duracell batteries and played a record to find out exactly what everyone was talking about with the sound. You can BARLEY hear it lol unless you're completely quiet! When you plug in headphones or hook it up to a portable speaker its extremely loud like nothing was ever wrong with it. I'm giving this 3 stars because this record player has so much potential but as said before because of its price it's what I expected and so far as I played a classic Beastie Boys - Licensed to ILL vinyl (not new, in great conditions with barely scratches) it played well! Hope this review helps!

Oh P.S. the other record players I own are:
-Jensen 3-Speed Stereo Turntable with AM/FM Stereo Radio (Silver) (which is completely crap! I bought it from urban and regretted it when I found it for half the friggin price on amazon smh lol. Of course I never returned it because I've made some modifications by adding additional speakers to it, added a coin to help the needle stop skipping my records and was 6 months into using it when I decided to see how much it goes for on amazon)
-Ion Audio Max LP 3-Speed Belt Drive Wooden DJ Turntable with Built-In Speakers (I completely adore this record player it plays louder than being plugged in with headphones but I love it and would def recommend this for a beginner or someone that doesn't want to get the higher end 400$ players. Only wish that I could've switch the needle to something even better and gotten the darker wood color but it stands out beautifully near my dark wood!)

Close but no cigar.

Picked this up to use on travels and shopping trips because of its extremely small form factor and light weight. Overall it functioned okay and I found a lot to like, but wound up returning it because it started skipping on several records that were definitely not scratched or otherwise damaged. (You had one job!)

Liked:
- "Soft touch" finish. Seems to be covered in some kind of tough rubberized paint that resists marring or scratching.
- Build. Pretty solid overall for an all-plastic piece; closes with a satisfying "ka-chunk."
- Size/portability. It's probably as small as a turntable can be, and definitely plays records.
- Earbud compartment. The included earbuds store in a small battery-type compartment on the underside, so you're never without them.
- Strap. Comes with a fairly sturdy nylon strap on the back, near the hinge, so you can dangle it off a record bag if you're short on space.
- Price. Highly functional for an inexpensive turntable.

Disliked:
- Sound quality. The gain was ungodly high from all three outputs, even the headphone jack, resulting in a kind of fuzzy, mushy high-end distortion. Basically it didn't sound like it was playing my records very well.
- Hum. A low, whining hum is audible when the USB port is engaged, either for power or playing through computer.
- Tracking/skipping. This was the deal-breaker that convinced me to return the item, and I can't figure out what the problem is. It played LPs pretty well, but when playing 45s it had a tendency to skip backwards (looping the same few notes over and over). I brought this player and some records to a picnic but the skipping problem was so bad (even after tilting the unit) that I simply had to stop using it.
- Tracking force. Crosley specs the VTF at 2 grams but it's clearly much heavier than that. Will certainly damage records with frequent use.
- Arm lift. The little arm that comes off the headshell doesn't stick out far and is hard to get your finger under. Consequently it's easy to push the arm sideways and scratch the record.
- Battery compartment. This was cheap, nonstandard, and annoying, especially for a unit that will be played primarily using batteries. The springs offer too much resistance and it's hard to seat the batteries properly. I tried to close the battery compartment with improperly seated batteries and broke off one of the tabs on the door.
- Adaptor. The included 45 adaptor also serves as a secure tonearm rest when the unit is locked and stowed and must be removed to play records. However, it'd be easy to lose or forget the adaptor, and the arm can't be secured without it. So if you lose it, you're screwed.

Here are some modifications I tried to make the unit serviceable:
- Adaptor. I created a leash for the item using a 12" ball chain and a 1 3/16" rubber grommet, attaching the chain to the strap in back and fitting the grommet snugly on the adaptor. Won't get lost now!
- Stylus. The included stylus is a cheap one with plastic cantilever and sounds much better with a steel-cantilever replacement.
- Arm lift. I created a lift tab by wrapping a piece of tape around the arm lift, so it could be picked up from above without pushing the tonearm sideways. Not perfect but much better (though it looks kinda cheap).
- Lubricant. Some of the skipping/tracking problem was fixed via a shot of WD40 to the tonearm pivot.
- Double-stick tape. The rubber mat was not attached or glued to the tiny platter, allowing it to rub against the stylus in transit if the stylus guard is not used. I used several pieces of double-stick tape to attach the mat to the platter.
- Carabiner. I bought a locking hook to attach to my record bag, so the player could be dangled from it using the strap in back.

In spite of the problems and the fact that I returned this, I'm still giving it three stars because it's definitely worth a shot: it's possible that the skipping problem was a flaw in my unit only. But buy it from Amazon and put it through its paces during the 30-day return period. Even if it works for you, it shouldn't be used as a primary player due to its heavy, record-damaging tracking force, but it may serve well as a portable unit for brief spot-checks and travel play. (Note that there is no built-in speaker, however.)

needs to be very level or it scratches the vinyl. cheap quality and you NEED to get other speakers because the ones in the system are way too low.

Great looks but unfortunately terrible sound.

I really liked the look of this turntable, I really did. But unless you are planning to keep it as a decoration piece, you better buy something that actually gives you good sound you can enjoy. This one makes the most beautiful songs sounds like the singer was screeching. A real pity.

Is a good divide for vinyl music fans

Is compatible with mac os x in the included CD and is compact. Is not automatic. The sound is acceptable. Nevertheless, the earbuds are included (as is noted in the box and in manual) but was not in the package. Is a good divide for vinyl music fans.
