Great toy if you know how to use a screwdriverby Wiselady (4 out of 5 stars)

Whoever designed the little egg shape remote needs to work at a chicken coop.
Although it's cute, no one can hold it without dropping it at least once. It hit the ground as soon as it came out of the box. And I was lucky to press and see a red light before that happened to know that battery failure was not the issue..
Got my screwdriver, opened the egg , pressed on the batts and it worked until my son dropped it again and again and again and I was furious at the chicken coop man...
No it's not us just wait until you hold it in your own hand you will blame him too..
Seriously, I had opened and closed the case so many times that I decided to leave it open and it needed an occasional press and spin of batteries and worked. So whoever said the toy did not work probably had the same problem..
It said to charge the beast only 30 mins and please do yourself a favor and charge it longer.
By the way, it does not indicate when it is fully charged nor when it is getting low. I guess when the thing is starring to trip and shiver which it did it's time to plug it up. So look for the sign that both lights are on the eyes of centipede and one small red light on remote. If those are working and the centipede is not moving properly just charge it .. I told my son it was tired..otherwise he got frustrated
Also, this is not for carpeted floors obviously and do make sure the floor is clean because the dirt may get in the little motor and if you do feel like pulling this thing apart than know that you will need more that 3 different screwdrivers and you will find out that one of the 3 screws in its head won't turn and by the time you are done trying to turn it it's completely smashed...ahhh
After all this nightmare we had a great night playing with it. It is quite awesome truly and not that expensive. If it does end up working past today it is a continuous investment because you will need to repurchase those small batteries for the remote only.

Terrible item!! So excited about this, gave as a gift and right out of the package the on/off switch popped off on the centipede. Had to turn it on with a toothpick. Put the batteries in the remote and it would not power on, not the batteries either, tried new ones. No remote=no working centipede. Very disappointed, had to return for a refund.
