For someone who is on-the-go working out of hotel rooms or coffee shops, you won't find anything better than this.

Previously I used the Griffin Elevator laptop stand which is also a good (cheaper) choice because it comes apart to fit in a backpack, but after a while I started to look for a stand that a) raised my laptop up higher since just about every laptop stand is a little too low for good posture b) folded up even smaller.

I found The Roost and am super happy with it because:
1. the height is perfect
2. it folds incredibly small and comes with a sleeve case
3. it's incredibly lightweight

I can't stress enough how impressive the combination of these 3 points is.

The other place to use a laptop stand is in an office next to a monitor. The Roost would also be good for this because of its height, though to be honest the mechanism for "securing" the laptop on the stand takes a little careful work (2 plastic pieces have to fit precisely between the 2 parts of the laptop shell) and might be annoying for everyday use at an office, especially if you often pick up your laptop to go to meetings.

Portable, sturdy, and a great way to be more ergonomic

This is a really terrific product. It's initially somewhat confusing in learning how to set it up, but once you get the hang of it, it sets up in seconds. (I watched the video the company has on how to set it up, which helped.) I use this to raise my MacBook Pro, then use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I toss it in my backpack and use it wherever I need to. It's very sturdy and I can confidently know that my laptop won't collapse in using it. Bravo to the designers of this product.

This thing is superb. Be sure to look at the images here to see how it is best displayed. You can just set it on this thing and it's fine, but it's really great if you hook it up just as picture. BTW I got mine used on Amazon for half price, and it was like brand new.

Works great for a fixed installation such as a work desk. Unfortunately, the height isn't adjustable, so it's not useful for things like a DJ setup where you want to adjust the height and also the angle of the screen.

This stand is amazing! Super light and compact! As a student I am consistently on the move and being able to fold this up and toss it in my bag has been a real treat! I frequently get asked by other students what kind of stand I am using for my Macbook so they can purchase one as well! Great product!

Great for posture

I have always slouched a lot and had posture problems and this has really helped by raising my computer to eye level. It is also ridiculously portable and looks very sexy although it is currently expensive.

This is now one of my favorite products. I work in different rooms in the house, on the road or in cafes, and this laptop stand is super small, light-weight and easy to use. I set it up with wireless mouse and keyboard and it's as if I have an appropriately-adjusted monitor with me wherever I go. I used to get a dull pain in my neck when working on my laptop for more than an hour. Now there is no paid whatsoever. I tried using a cheaper laptop stand but it was big and bulky and barely fit in my backpack. It also seemed a bit imposing to be using around other people in a cafe. This stand met all my needs and I think well-worth the price.

I backed The Roost originally on Kickstarter and I'm glad I did. Previously I had the griffin which isn't exactly portable. This stand is light and easy to transport, and lifts to a perfect height. I usually take it to cafes along with my bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and I have a perfect ergo workstation. I also use it at home and it lifts the laptop to the right height to be just in line with my second monitory.

I purchased the Roost for my Mac book pro. The stand fits perfectly, and the best part is that now my second monitor is at the same level as my laptop screen. I no longer have to hunch over to see the laptop screen. I highly recommend this product to everyone looking for a laptop stand. The added bonus that the product is made in the USA just adds to its appeal.
