Get this product for all that it is and is capable of!!!!

I consider myself a mega user of Powerbanks. I own 12 of them, all for different uses and applications.

This Levin product is by far the best for travel especially hiking, I'm not talking a walk in the park, I'm talking a rugged dirt filled time!

Here's why I love this thing:
- Rubberized caps to protect the ports from dirt and water. This is a no-brainer and an excellent feature
- The solar panel isn't just obviously amazing, it' sensitive to light so it will even start charging when you least expect it. I was blown away by how often it was trying to charge even in dimly lit places.
- It's shock proof. Look if you have kids, you need this cause it's gonna go down at some point.
- I hesitated as first but decided to try splashing some water on it. Had to take a deep breath but turns out it really is resistant and nicely sealed.
- Built in keyring/clip hole is brilliant. I can literally crawl up the side of the mountain while this thing basks in the sun's rays.
-12,000mAh could literally save your life in the wilderness. Think about it =)

Bottomline: get this product for all that it is and is capable of. I'm waiting patiently for even larger power capacities. In the meantime, I'll see you at the top of the mountain.

Solar Panel works great!
by Sherry the Dog Lady (4 out of 5 stars)

I've tried a few different external batteries that have a solar panel for charging, besides the USB charging option. This one charges a little faster thru the solar panel only. It obviously takes longer to charge by solar power only, but sure comes in handy when staying w/an Amish friend who has no electricity. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because they don't make a case to fit this in for travel. I hate to put it in my bag w/o some sort of protection & to be able to keep the USB charging cable with it. I did find a case that works, but is a little tight. It's better than nothing. The case I bought for this, (here on Amazon), is the "EasyAcc Black Customized Pouch Case Bag for EasyAcc External Battery (inner size: 170x80x30mm). Customer Questions answered that the case is 7 x 3.5 x 1.75 in inches. (L x W x D). I found the inner dimensions of the case are actually; L-6.75" x W-3.25" x D-.5" (this is measuring the bottom part of the open case where the elastic straps are to secure the Solar Panel in, before closing.) This Levin Battery Pack measures; L-6.5" x W-3.5'" x D-.75". Keep in mind that my inner dimensions are for the bottom half of the open case. There is a mesh pocket on the Upper part of the open case. Nice pocket for keeping the USB charging cable in the case w/o the Solar Panel Battery Pack. So even tho it's a kinda tight fit, putting the Battery Pack in it (on the side w/o the two elastic holders. It does close nicely w/the USB cable in it. If anyone finds a hard or semi-hard case for the Levin 12009mAth Battery Pack, please let me know. For all intents & purposes, this case works great!

They both worked great at first

I bought two of them. Took them camping to charge cell phones. They both worked great at first. Both of the internal batteries' will not hold a charge anymore. I did not get them wet, nor where they dropped. They do not charge the batteries at all. They still charge via the solar cells but neither will hold a charge anymore. Which means they are only good during daylight hours.

No it's not going to fully charge your phone from sitting in the sun for a day
by Charles (4 out of 5 stars)

Quite the portable battery!

This thing is huge and heavy, but it packs a punch. After fully charging it by plugging it into a phone charger I proceeded to charge the following.

An iPhone 5 was a 30%, fully charged. An iPad Mini was about 50%, now fully charged. A Samsung Galaxy SIII was completely dead, fully charged. My Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was about 30% charged, now fully (and it prefers a big charger). My Wife's Kindle HD was about 10% charged, now fully (and Kindles prefer a big charger too).

Then I topped of my iPhone again. Then I ran a little USB fan for hours until it finally stopped putting out.

This was all on one charge.

The next day I stuck it in the sun (pretty much direct) for about 8 hours. It was then able to charge another Samsung Galaxy SIII from dead to about 40%.

I think this is a great emergency battery/solar charger! No it's not going to fully charge your phone from sitting in the sun for a day. It might even take a couple days for it to recharge enough using just the sun in order to fully charge a phone. But that is OK. If I can get some charge for a days worth of Sun it's better than no charge at all!

The Flashlight works well, it's not super bright, but again, it's better than no light at all. And I think the SOS beacon function is very cool. You never know when you are going to be lost or trapped in your car down a ravine and need the opportunity to signal.

So why only 4 stars? The supplied carabiner is to small..

Good customer service

Both sides of the plastic casing were split to the point it would no longer be rain proof. The gaps were big enough for water to easily stream in. It actually looked like the big inner clip was broken. I had to super glue both sides and clamp it down to close the gaps. It also won't fully charge? It only charges 75% (3 led lights illuminate only) this is trying both solar charge and wall charge. The one thing that's good about this is that it does charge my galaxy note 4. I was worried it wouldn't perform with such a big phone.

Edit:

Levin company contacted me on their own and offered to refund or replace my existing charger. I opted for a new unit. They rush delivered it to me, no charge and I didn't have to send back the other charger. This company has great customer service and a good product.

Customer Service is Beyond Exceptional
by Nathan Davis (4 out of 5 stars)

Customer Service is beyond exceptional. I originally purchased this to use for a 3-day adventure race to recharge my usb headlamp and bike lamp. I was excited about the 12,000mAh, but not super excited about the fact that the usb ports for charging were not the quicker charge. I had all day for the 2 lights to charge, so I figured it wasn't a big deal. Both lights had 2600mAh batteries, so roughly 4.5 charges on it. When I first received the unit, I was excited, but when I went to charge it, the input receiver was bent. That meant that I had to keep the chord at an angle for it to charge AND it only would work with the thicker chord it came with. This proved to be troublesome. I also noticed that when I did get it fully charged, it did not charge my phone as many times as I thought it would. I calculated well under 12,000mAh... more like 8-9k. When I voiced my complaint, Levin was SUUPPER quick to respond. Not only that, they sent me a brand new unit in time for my race. The new unit was great. The only thing that bothered me was I still think I'm getting under 12,000mAh of storage. That's why I want to give a 4.5 instead of a 5 star. The double output ports were super handy. The ruggedness was great too. It went through sand and rain, as well as being thrown around in a bag. I thought I would utilize the solar feature, but I found that I didn't have a ton of time to make sure it was secure on the back of my pack. The unit isn't too heavy. It's not crazy light, but I had no issues carrying it in my pack. Definitely wouldn't have been able to charge without it, but my only complaint is that I may have gotten about 10k mAh max out of the second unit. I was really banking on the larger storage. For the price though, I think it's a solid buy. One cool feature that I liked was that when it was done fully charging one/both of my units that were off, it would automatically turn back off (I believe) I would keep it running in my pack while I was still racing, and when I would check it about 6 hours later, it would be off and still have juice left. So I assume it shut off once inactive for a little while. That was convenient for me.

Bottom Line: Excellent Customer Service and sturdy/rugged unit, but I don't believe you are getting quite the storage it is stating. I also wish the unit had at least one faster charging ports. Good buy for price.

Seems to be pretty much as advertised
by kayak101 (4 out of 5 stars)

Seems to be pretty much as advertised. I received the unit with about 75% charge. Starting with a full charge on a galaxy S4 active, the phone was only charged using this unit for 5 full days of usage. I ran gps and navionics apps as well as weather updates texts etc.during the 5 day period. Northern Minnesota days are about 9 hours of daylight this time of the year and there was no sun so I did not get a lot of gain from the solar portion of the unit. The directions on recharging the unit is not well defined as to the different ways it can be recharged. Only the computer and "other devices" are listed to be used to recharge the unit. It would be nice to exactly know what "other devices" can be used. ie: wall plug in? The power source in your car? etc. etc. So far I feel it is a good unit.

Great Customer Support
by ddmsigns (5 out of 5 stars)
November 13, 2015

I am very happy with the charger. It has charged up to 4 lights rather quickly. I use it backpacking and with a full day on my pack it will get up to 3 lights (the best you will get on solar ). It diminishes to only 2 lights over time If you get a fully charge a phone at night. It is rugged and resists water. I just wished the cable lasted longer. I am replacing the cord after 4 months.
11/12/15 update: The unit stopped charging after 5 months. Contacting the Dealer they promptly honored the 12 month worry free warranty. I am very pleased with the customer support and would definitely do business with them again.

Definitely backup power source with perks for wet weather area and outdoor environment! Full size ta
by T. Henson (4 out of 5 stars)

Nice size back power source when finding a wall outlet impossible! It's the size of energy drink length wise while only as thick as a 100 page travel booklet (1.5 cm or 1/2" thick). The emergency light option works fine for some detail needing a fair strength light and not as strong as a small Maglight flashlight. Still nice design for wet weather with tab covering the output USB ports and sole input micro-USB port. Only give it four stars due to my recent (four days) ownership. So far its fully charged my 10" Toshiba Exicte tablet twice and full discharged its self once. Will likely update later on on long term durability and see how long the solar cell take to charge the unit.

Best bang for your buck.

Great Battery! Took on 2 night kayak camping. Items charged- Samsung Gearfit watch, 2 batteries for a Ricoh WG-M1 camera, and my Samsung S5 phone. With lots of power left.

Then took it on a week long trip. Husband used almost every night on his LG tablet and then I-phone.

We sort of charged it outside for a couple hours here and there. I might have plugged it into the wall once for an hour or so on that trip.

The only issue I've had is that it can only get about 3/4 charge from the solar panel. Charged it from the wall, using a USB converter.

Hoping to try to charge it with a bigger solar panel through a converter.

Overall - Fabulous!
