I Love You-Designer Light Bulb
This special light bulb contains I LOVE YOU / HEART that illuminate INSIDE the bulb. The words are B&W when light is off and when its on, the heart glow a reddish orange color and the words glow a greenish yellow.

[Technical Description]
DarkSteve produced these amazing novelty light bulbs that contained sculptural filaments in the shape of flowers, penguin, fish and myriad other designs that would illuminate in different colors. The bulbs contained a mixture of neon or argon (or both) and some of the components were coated with phosphors to achieve different color effects.

The light bulbs contained low pressure gas, either neon or argon, or a mixture of the two. Also within the bulb were metal sculptures coated with phosphors. These phosphors fluoresced when excited by glow discharge. Because glow discharge occurs readily at 110-130 volts AC, one could use these bulbs in standard household lamps in the US.

As a lamp maker, I have a soft spot for weird stuff such as this Terrarium plant globe bulb. Had this been easier for me to find on amazon, I would have purchased it sooner, but it was hidden among what I think are albeit cute bulbs, but nothing like this.

The plastic globe is incredibly sturdy and not thin. It looks like glass to a casual viewer but you will see that once you take the bulb /globe out of the box, which is already assembled, how sturdy this is. It is ready to socket, so make sure when you purchase this, you have a cord in your cart, or one at home that can hold the bulb, along with what you want to put inside the terrarium.

It comes with the plastic plant as seen in the details as well as a small package of white (aquatic grade?) rocks. I didn't elect to use those, because the package was so dusty, I did not want to get the interior of this globe dirty. I am sure I could have put them in a colander and washed them off , and allowed them to dry before placing them into the globe, but in my photos, I am using a mix of light weight blue glass cabochons and slightly heavier clear glass decorator grade marbles, as one might use for flower arrangements. This is something I added slowly to make sure the weight of the bulb/globe and my construction grade light cord could withstand, and I didn't just start pouring these glass items fill force into this delicate piece happenstance.

So far, 3 weeks since setup, and the bulb is doing great with 16+ hours of every day use. I highly recommend this item for yourself or as a gift, but make sure you get a cord when you purchase it.

Second Problematic Novelty Bulb In Just Over Two Months

I purchased the "Idea" LED light bulb to replace the currently out-of-stock rose decorative bulb I bought at the start of the year. That bulb was only used intermittently, and started to dim petal by petal, leaf by leaf after just a month or so. I was told, when I sent an inquiry, that it's expected life is 1000 hours. By that point, it was too late to return.

I went with the rather more costly LED Idea bulb after being told it should last 20,000 hours. Unfortunately, the one I got didn't work at all, right out of the box. I tried several lamps, to be sure. It did appear the LED "filament" was loose and wobbly.

At least I can return that one.

I love it's pit and the bulb. 2 years ago I gave it to a freind as a gift and it worked perfect. This year I gave it to my mom as a Christmas gift and it lasted for 3 days and then the bulb burnt out ! Really deapinted . It's beautiful when it works

This bulb was awesome for about 4 days. The "I love you" burned out and I now have a glowing heart but nothing else. Maybe a fluke but super bummed.

Colors are vibrant, but I give it 3 stars instead of 5 because the color in the image does not represent the actual color. Product is acutally more of a pink color than a red-orange.

A very original concept, and final result is perfect. A cute decoration that screws into any standard bulb socket. Emits an amount of light similar to a lava lamp. The "I love you" and "heart" are nice and bright when lit.
