This is exactly what you would expect. A mini cannon. We read plenty of bad reviews but we were never expecting more than what was shown. After some practice my husband has really enjoyed it!

Super fun. Worked better with black powder than Triple 7.
Great little Mortar!

Real black powder a must! 5 grains of 4 or 5f, I use 4f. A .22 LR shell is nearly 5gr. exactly. More powder isn't necessarily better. A little less powder, a tightly rolled, quarter sized rolled of paper towel (makes a good wad) the tighter the louder, and I use .177 nickel coated lead balls from Mini Cannon Technology because heavier= higher muzzle velocity=bigger boom. Measuring less powder and a tight wad can give you louder and more accurate results if you are consistent. Mini Cannon Technology has a The Reenactor cannon on Amazon, you can get a brass ramrod with it, and they have balls, and fuse. If you use a cotton swab wet on both sides with alcohol to clean the mortar barrel after each shot, and a dry swab after, you will have better, more repeatable shots with no fouling. This is MOST of my collection, I practice a lot... All of the small ones are .177, the mortar is below a .50cal

Great looking tiny artillery. Finding the fuse is tough though. Uses ffffg powder in tiny amounts.

My boyfriend absolutely loved this. The only problem is trying to find the fuse wire and black powder, because they are not included.

This is a an example of fine machining and elegant design. It's an attractive piece, although a bit smaller than I'd anticipated. Despite its size it does catch the eye and generates discussion.

Here is four consecutive frames of a video of this little cannon using FFFG black powder. It's a lot of fun keeping the 16oz H2O bottles from taking over the Empire.

The cannon is cool, fun to mess around with your friends and does everything it says. But when I use the cannon with just gun powder, a fuse and a BB its not loud or powerful. I was hoping it would be more loud and more powerful. So in that regard I am disappointed.
