I ordered this thinking it would be good in food storage, unfortunately it is the best tasting instant coffee I have ever had.....so I had to buy more. Great product
Instant coffee by any other name would still be instant coffee

Other reviews made this instant coffee seem like some kind of special gourmet item. It's instant coffee, not to be confused with fresh coffee. For the folks who described this as tasting better than fresh coffee, I would suggest you need to seek medical advice about your loss of taste. It's handy as it is packed in a sealed pouch which means that you don't have to repack instant coffee in a baggie to take hiking. It tastes okay for instant coffee but it still is instant coffee. It's better than C-rats coffee. I haven't had MRE coffee so can't compare it to what is offered presently. To me it tastes no different than Nescafe or any other instant coffee. I would rather buy a jar and transfer to a baggie. Considerably less expensive.
I thought everyone was being too kind.

Quick note, start small and add. Too much will taste disgusting whereas a smaller amount is amazing.
This review is for the coffee but luckily both my coffee and pancake mix showed up together hence the Patriot Supply breakfast! I was very skeptical about tge reviews of how tasty it is. But, I didnt care. If you have ever been in terrible conditions like a camping trip gone wrong or deployment, you know ANY cup of coffee taste like warm tears from an angel sent just to raise your spirits. Sooooo, I made breakfast and carefully took a sip of the coffee ,waiting for that gross instant coffee taste and bitter after taste. But, everyone is right, it is absolutely delicious for instant. No bitterness, very melllow and honestly is better than most coffee houses "house" coffee.
So all the pros are obvious
The one con, it's quite expensive. The sample pack would translate to 40 dollars a pound although the bulk pack (im seriously buying at least 2 or 3) much lower at about 28 dollars a pound. Heck to be honest with a 25 year shelf life it might be an investment, coffee will be going for 75 dollars a pound by then.
P..S , the pancakes are awesome too, definitely ordering a few boxes!

I had tried this coffee in a free sample . Loved it--------and it's instant ! ! ! This time I bought four packs. Packages will no doubt out last me the rest of my life, but the coffee won't ! Shelf life of 25+ years.
UPDATED: As good as almost any freeze dried coffee. Tip: less is more...

UPDATE: A few mugs later, I can confirm that using less (i.e. dilute more) makes the coffee more palatable. I may've used a heaping teaspoonful per 6 0z the first time, now I just use a very slightly rounded teaspoonful -- per 6 oz of water. Again, creamer helps too. May still buy the year's supply -- survival stash. Just had an afternoon cup that I reasonably enjoyed... again, a barely rounded tsp per 6oz. For me, higher concentration is too strong and bitter.
ORIGINAL COMMENTS:
Woof. I guess it's as good as almost any freeze dried coffee -- except for Starbucks Via and some others you can find that seem to have figured out how to smooth out the bitter edges. I'll definitely pack this in my camping gear, being light weight and easy to prepare, etc. But my first impression was 'ugh' and 'oof how bitter tasting'. Adding a little creamer to it helped. I don't mean to blame the actual coffee formulation... it's probably as good as any of this category. Kinda wish it didn't have to have that bitter edge. I'm going to experiment with using less of it -- i.e. more diluted -- should help. Could be some user error here on my part. My recommendation would be that first time users do as I did -- buy the small pack first and try it before buying the year's supply. I'll update my findings in time.
Great Medium Roast Instant Coffee That Is Just As Good As Fresh Ground

Franklin's Finest, simply put, is good coffee. The instructions call for one rounded teaspoon of the freeze-dried coffee crystals to be added to 6 ounces of hot water and, voila, you have coffee. I followed these instructions very carefully, making sure to not overdue it on the coffee crystals, and ended up with a great cup. A single teaspoon of sugar on top, creamer of choice, and it's good to go.
I can't stress enough not to overdue it on the coffee crystals. Using any more than one teaspoon per 6 ounces of water will result in something much stronger and much more bitter than is typically palatable. I actually found that using a bit of extra water, maybe 8 ounces or so, per teaspoon of product yields the best results.
Prepared this way, the coffee tastes very much like Maxwell House Original Medium Roast ground coffee and is a good bit better than Folger's instant.
I will be using this pouch, which is the first I bought just to see if I would like it, for everyday use at home and here shortly will be ordering the one-year supply also available on Amazon. Especially since the cost works out to be cheaper per serving than buying the instant packs off the shelf at the store.
Makes a great cup of FD coffee.

Makes a very nice cup of coffee. It is instant, so not really equal to brewed coffee. But compared to Taster's Choice and other instants, this is far better. A deeper richer coffee flavor, but still a hint of the characteristic FD taste. I am enjoying a cup now as I type this. I will take this camping from now on, and am putting a few pouches into my storm preps food storeage. Here in Florida with hurricane season looming, good FD coffee is a necessity if power goes out.
Not bad, not great.

So, I'm sitting here with a cup of this instant coffee.... its not awesome. Its okay. Tastes like instant coffee. I suppose that if you were in dire straights for coffee it would pass. But its not five star rave review good. I do like that it can sit on the shelf for a long time in food storage, or a bug out bag, but so can vacuum packed beans with oxygen absorbers in the pack (food saver packed). Folgers coffee single bags are better.

This is from an excellent company that O first heard about on tue Alex Jones show at Infowars.com. Made in America products, great prices, and long term storable items.
I have purchases a variety of items from this company, but their coffee is the best deal! It is inexpensive and stores long term. It will be great to have several of these on hand should any type of natural disaster, power failure, or economic collapse happen. Something big is coming our way. Everyone I talk to can feel it coming. Time to prepare!
Purchased for long term storage for emergencies or Zombie Apocalypse.

We haven't tried this coffee yet, we purchased it for long term storage with emergency food during a natural disaster, crisis, or the Zombie Apocalypse, whichever comes first. The Zombie Apocalypse will be bad enough, but I had to buy coffee for The Wife so she doesn't turn into a raging zombie herself. It does appear to be appropriately packaged for long term storage. We will be purchasing more of this.
Good Emergency or Convenient Coffee

By far the best instant coffee I have ever had. It is better than some brewed coffee that I have had. This is a must for backpacking, power outages and or outright convenience. I have ordered twice now. Four to six packs each time. My next order will be at least a dozen. I have given 3 packs away to family and friends. They all love it. One relative wanted to know if it is available in decaf or half caf? Don't believe it is. Good coffee.
