Don't waste $

Very disappointing, worked great for my laptop for 5 months, now no charge at all. Tested with my colleagues base and my cords, determined the issue was in the base port for laptop. What a waste of money.

It worked, for 29 days... Then caught fire... Scared the living hell out of me.

Oh my god, this is the most unsafe charger yet. How is this thing even UL listed? I was happily charging away on my Thinkpad, then my laptop just turned off, suddenly. Then I hear a buzzing sound from the charger. It looks like there is a fireworks show going on inside it, smoke pouring out, a mini fire is happening in my room. My GFCI then tripped, scared the living hell out of me. This product needs to be pulled off the market RIGHT NOW. No wonder they went out of business. If I didn't have a GFCI outlet in my room, who knows what could have happened. Thank god my laptop survived, or I would have been out 1200$.

My room is filled with smoke, my hands smells like burnt plastic.

Glad it blew up within the return period. I can actually get my money back.

Works as advertised

I've never seen a product with more mixed reviews than this one. I don't know if it's a batch issue but it seems it either works like a charm or is totally useless. I've been using it for nearly a month now, and so far I'm in the former camp. To give it a durability test, I keep it at work and plugged in 24/7 connected to my Toshiba PC. It's constantly charging, gets a little warm but not hot, no whining noise. From time to time I charge my iPhone and/or iPad at the same time, and it charges pretty quickly. I've taken it on the road and it worked in Germany, the Netherlands, Russia and Japan with no problem. It helped reduce the electronic accessories I have to carry when travelling and if you want to lighten your load, now is a good time to try as it's sold at $72 right now. I can only hope I won't come back in a month and report it died on me...

QC needs some work here...mine doesn't work as intended.

I wanted to love it. I really did. I waited until it was in stock to order so I wouldn't forget about it.

At first, it seemed great. Nice packaging, cute litle bag. Easy organization for the swappable tips. Cool beans. Tested it briefly with two different laptops before leaving for a trip and it worked just fine. Loved the idea of only needing one charger for my laptop and two phones and tablet that I usually take with me (techie if you haven't guessed).

LEFT for the trip and went to use it. Ah well...hmm. Yep, it charges my laptop as expected. Plug my phone in...nothing. Scratch my head a bit and get a different USB cable. Scratch my head more because that doesn't work either. Unplug the laptop, no help. Plug into the other USB port...bingo, it works.

Plug laptop back in, all good. Plug other phone in using the "good" port...nothing. Change USB ports, works again.

And so on. In short, one randonly selected USB port won't charge what's plugged into it. Sometimes neither will work and I'm stuck unplugging or re-plugging in various orders until I can charge my phone.

Why one star? Well, fanciness aside this has one function: charge my devices. It doesn't. I don't care how small, pretty, convenient or inexpensive (which it isn't) something is. If it doesn't serve it's fundamental function, it's of no use. Beyond that, I also expect the tiny pins on the swappable tips to eventually get bent.

Back to carrying two chargers...

Works as advertized

I've heard some negative reviews on this little charger, but I decided to give it a shot. Happy I did.

I travel relatively frequently so I'm always looking for good ways to optimize space management in my luggage & carry on bags. This little Zolt does the trick. I've ditched the chargers for my HP laptop, iPad, & iPhone. This little device will simultaneously charge all three just fine. I think that it is a little faster to charge all these devices separately w/ their manufacturer-supplied chargers, but not to a noticeable extent. When you factor in how compact the Zolt is, it is well worth it.

One tip: Be sure the wall outlet you plug the Zolt into can carry the full load of all the devices plugged into it. Sometimes those cheesy desk plugs @ even the nicest hotels are crap.

Zolt puts some oomph into dreary chargers.

I go on frequent trips, and wanted a single charger for all my devices. This certainly fits the bill.

I'm using this on a Dell 7540 Ultrabook. This is not listed as a supported model, but it's predecessor is listed as a supported model so I bought the charger as a calculated gamble and it paid off. The Dell motherboard tends to reject most third-party chargers as non-compatible but this charger seems to be fine.

I don't see any differences between the Dell Charger and this charger. I've charged an iphone 6 plus and an ipad air 2 simultaneously with the other two ports, and that has not been an issue. It's able to charge i-devices about as quickly as the Apple chargers.

It looks much cooler than any other charger on the market. Many of my colleagues now have charger envy.

Impressive idea, disappointed product
by Beiyu Rong (3 out of 5 stars)

The idea of Zolt is very impressive: a univisal, portable and nano size charger fits major laptops in the market. But the end product is very disapppinting.

Zolt is small, but not that small. For example, it is about the same size of Thinkpad 65W travel AC adapter FRU 03X8995. However, Zolt is very hot, hotter than almost any original AC adapter comes with your laptop. The worst thing of Zolt is the output voltage: Zolt supplies a fixed 19.6v no matter what plug you used.

Zolt's idea is simple, or more precisely, evil: It supplies little lower, or little higher voltage than your laptop required, and uses your laptop's DC-DC circuit to maintain the correct voltage. By using Zolt, your laptop has to work little harder. This ends up who knows what: maybe burn your motherboard, or overheat your Zolt.

Zolt's plug has 3 pins. I believe it can detect different plugs and supply exact voltage laptop requires instead of a fixed 19.6v. But Zolt does not do that way. For a hot adapter like this, I believe $100 is way too much.

Save your $100 on Zolt, also save your laptop's motherboard.

Falls Short
by EVD (3 out of 5 stars)

Good concept but falls short. If you look at the ad photo where it is plugged into an electrical strip - you have to have an electrical strip close by. Most offices and conference rooms I use don't have this and I either have to plug my laptop in on the floor or into the wall - this messes up the Zolt because the cord is too short and then having the outlets for your other devices ends up on the floor or wall. So, bring another extension cord or just plug your other devices into your laptop and just carry the laptop charger. My laptop charger is about the same size and weight as the Zolt so the Zolt didn't help me with the Laptop. The other ad photo shows the Zolt in a man's pocket - great. Where's the cord? True, the cord is thinner, lighter, and more flexible than my Laptop cord - but not worth paying a hundred bucks if I still need an extension cord in my back pocket. This needs to be more like the Laptop chargers where there is a cord on each side of the device. If this device had two cords - one going into the laptop and one going into the electrical outlet - it would be perfect. For now - I'm disappointed and returned it.

nifty little charger
by yogibimbi (4 out of 5 stars)

Great piece of technology. I had one for about half a year and I had it charge my MacBook Air 11" night and day as my principal charger. At night it also charged my Xperia Z5 and, recently, Nixon's The Mission. It does all it is supposed to do, so I got another one about a month ago. However, I had only one MagSafe cable between the both of them since I figured that, if something was to give, it would probably be the charger, since the one that I ordered for my first Zolt was a far cry from the sorry, fraying mess that the cables on Apple's original AC adapter are. Just yesterday, however, the lights on the cable went out. Had happened before, so I disconnected them, also the charger, plugged them back in - nothing. However, exactly the same happened on the other charger. So, unless two chargers, one 6 months old, the other 1, decided at the very same moment, to kick the bucket simultaneously, we have a cable problem here. Both chargers keep charging my other gadgets, the charger LED is on. I will try them out on a different brand laptop with the other adapters, but my money is on the cable having checked out. Now, it seems that Zolt has bitten the dust, as their website does not exist anymore, and the parent company avogy also only links to the gozolt page. Seems I'm in for an interesting ride to get one, better two, replacement cables... So, that's why there is one star missing.

Excellent Addition to my RoadWarrior Bag (with long-term edits)
by Blake C (5 out of 5 stars)

After a 3 month wait (November 2015), my order was filled (direct from Zolt). The Electric Orange color I ordered could pass for Red. It works as advertised. Love the Industrial Design. The rotating folding plug is a thing of beauty. The 2 extra chargers eliminated an extra dual bulky USB charger from my bag. The cable is very high quality silicone. My Dell didn't complain about the wattage so it meets the 60W minimum of my E7450. There was no audible noise from my unit unlike some of the original units (this likely was the cause of the initial shipping delay from some of the other reviews).

The size is about the diameter of a D Cell, and somewhat longer. It is about 1/2 the size of the OEM width, 1/2 less length and 1/2 an inch less depth but 2x the height. Overall, much smaller volume, significantly lighter and one cable instead of two - along with 2 USB chargers.

Note I also snapped a pic of a rip-off of the Finsix Dart made by Crazepower. It died within 3 minutes of use but shows that if the Finsix Dart ever ships it will indeed be smaller (however I have waited literally 3 years for the Dart and it still hasn't shipped a unit that I can tell). The Crazepower did copy the Dart dimensionally so it is a good comparison.

The one thing I have noticed is the charger remains warm after fully charging the laptop and phone, unlike the OEM Dell charger. You notice this in the morning after leaving the laptop charging overnight. Not hot, just warm. It has never gotten what I would consider hot to the touch even when charging a running laptop. I am somewhat surprised it doesn't drop into a sleep mode after charging as the OEM charger does. I'm sure there is a reason behind the scenes.

Overall I love the purchase and would do so again. While the wait was annoying, it has lived up to its promise and is an excellent addition to my roadwarrior bag.

Edit: Unit Failed. I diagnosed it to a bad cable (although the cable seems over VERY high quality). Zolt sent me a new one at no charge. I was having sporadic 'failures to charge' but my light was on from the base unit. I suspect many of the other failures in the feedback are cable related. The new cable fixed the problem. I have since bought a Finsix Dart. The Finsix is smaller to be sure, but due to the non-foldable plug the overall volume it takes up is not radically smaller. Cable management is trickier with the dart as the cable doesn't feel like you should detach it every time it is stored. The cost is the same. The Finsix runs cooler. I love both units to be honest. The wow factor of the size of the Finsix is better, but the design of the Zolt is excellent with the pivoting shell and the storable plug. I use both sporadically on my 90w Dell (although this might of been why my cable failed)

Loved using it for 9 months until it broke
by Praveen Sahay (2 out of 5 stars)

Loved using it for 9 months until it broke. Enjoyed the convenience of a single charger for all my devices when traveling around the US. The size is perfect for fitting easily into my laptop bag and the cable wraps nicely around the body of the charger. However, upon plugging the device into a 220V outlet in India, the charger worked well for 20 minutes but then let out a pop and stopped working completely (it claims to work 120-240V as printed on the device). However, other people seem to have had no problem using this in 220V plugs so I must have gotten a defect. Would appreciate a replacement from the company as I very much enjoyed using this charger.
