Poorly Constructed

Broke first run I took it on. "Take the sport of snow sledding from the backyard to the biggest hills" is a overstatement with how poorly the constructed the steering is. Ruined my day of sledding.

Loving the Hammerhead

Unbelievable sled even in the worst conditions meaning very little snow on the ground. This is a great way to get your kids out of the house, it is fast, you can steer and the kids were laughing and having great fun with it all weekend. A hit for sure. I was a little hesitant because of the price but it was well worth the investment. A little scared to try on the bigger hills because it went very fast on the smaller hills. We shall see. I have been sledding for 40 years, all the way back to the days of the Flexible Flyer and this is the fisrt sled that I have completely fallen for. It is awesome and very durable. Weigh limit is 250 lbs. so the kids were doubling up on it.

Best sled ever, we want to buy another!

Best sled ever made. Steering works perfectly, and the "Aeron chair" pelicle seat absorbs almost all the bumps and shocks, making it easier on your spine and lower back. Head first works best as you can tweak your knee if you try to brake while facing forward.

We have a full ski waxing setup and I'm tempted to try wax on the runners for this bad boy.

Top notch sled

I love this sled. If you are sledding on snow with a bit of a crust it will fly! Even on soft snow the runners provide good support. The concave design of the front runners and the guide on the rear runners prevent it from sliding sideways and provide excellent steering control. Be prepared for sled envy from your fellow sledders!

There are snow sleds, than there is the HAMMERHEAD PRO XLD

Whew lol... This is a great sled, and faster than the ones you get at bj's, or Walmart, or any retail chain. You pay a premium, but you get it in quality, fun, and speed. I wanted something a little faster than what we had after a day of sledding and my daughter and her cousins seemed smitten with another family's sled. Was just a bit faster than the ones we bought out. I researched sleds, and came across this, whew. I picked up some wax for the skis, and the first time out my daughter and I were both screaming as we went down the hill, lmao!!! We couldn't wait for more snow to fall. I did let a guy take a ride who happened to be out one-day sledding. Truth be told, I encouraged him. The look on his face as he walked backed up the hill said it all, lolololol. What he mustered out was, "this is fast."

Impressive sled

I live on a small ski mountain. Every year I build a luge run; well, technically a skeleton run since we go head first. No good way to ice the run so we haven't been able to use runner sleds. We have been using the foam sleds which have virtually no steering. Net result is a fast, uncontrolled run which can end up with the rider coming out of the track. This steerable, ski runner sled looks like the perfect solution. I've watched videos of people using these and they look impressive. I'm hoping the sled doesn't prove to be too fast since there's no practical way of braking other than dragging your feet. The sled appears well constructed. Now, all I need is snow.

One great sled.

So I took the Hammerhead out the first time this year. Believe everything you hear. This is one great sled. It steers. Just jump on and fly down the hill. You know a sled is good when a Canadian gives the sled high reviews and compliments. Don't waste your money on a piece of junk plastic sled. Get this one and you will be happy.

Well built, lightning fast sled!
by MMNOLD (5 out of 5 stars)

Received this for Christmas. Used it for the first time today down a 1/5 mile long mountain slope. Sled is lightning fast. Thought the prone, face-first riding position would be awkward. I was wrong. Very comfortable and necessary. Sled is very fast and you need your legs to help control speed and to assist in steering at high speeds. Sled is lighter than my large plastic sled and very easy to carry even without the carry strap. Was a little worried about the durability of the front skis. However, they performed flawlessly over multiple runs throughout the day over a pretty aggressive slope. I was also worried I might be too big for the sled. But the sled handled my 5'10" 170 lb frame with ease.

It works best on packed snow
by David C. (4 out of 5 stars)

It has been used once after a 6-8" snow in the piedmont region of NC. The sled is light, with surprisingly nimble steering. It works best on packed snow, with lesser speeds achieved in deep powder. Works well for both children and adults. I cannot attest to longevity.

There's no better sled out there.

Soon as I hit the sledding hill it was all eyes on me. Lots of people asking where I got it, because it was the baddest sled out there. Super fast, with great steering. Now if it would only get me back up the hill easier.
