I am happy. I haven't tasted my first batch yet as ...

My veggies are fermenting on the counter in my kitchen and no one has complained about the smell. With my other similar set up, I had to put the jar in the cupboard and cover it with a cloth. But even then, the smell would permeate the kitchen. Also, there is no juice leakage from the cap. I am happy. I haven't tasted my first batch yet as we have a week or so to go! Waited to post until I had tasted them! Perfect! Just right.

This IS the Ferment Kit to Buy
by Kindle Customer (5 out of 5 stars)
April 15, 2016

I just purchased this item before leaving for vacation. The seller immediately contacted me to thank me and ask if I had any questions. It was refreshing to see such enthusiasm. They also gave me a link to a recipe book that they started. After a little online investigation, it looks like this product is the best I could have purchased. I can't wait until my first batch is ready! My husband was relieved when he read the instructions - these people actually understand the process! He is always skeptical, being a scientist, and seeing so many people doing things that could inadvertently harm others. He loved the "cheap vodka" suggestion. My husband took my kit to work (he is a Food Scientist, and his boss is a Chef), his boss was so interested, he went online and purchased one immediately! I obviously think these folks have a good product, and I will probably be buying more, myself.

This Product Gets You Yummy Sauerkraut
by Let's Go (5 out of 5 stars)

My very first home made sauerkraut! This was so easy. I followed the directions and got wonderful fermented food. After it was in the refrigerator about a week it was even better. I have another two batches started and have high expectations of success again with this great product.

Easy to use for fermenting
by EJ (5 out of 5 stars)

My mother is very interested in fermented foods and makes her own kefir and sauerkraut. She wanted to be able to ferment other things like peppers, onions and beets without having to buy another expensive crock. She has lots of mason jars and thought these would work. They do and she enjoys being able to eat delicious fermented foods she makes.

Works great and customer service was good too

I bought this for a gift a couple of months ago and the person just got around to using one for sauerkraut and it works great! (Haven't tried the second one yet) We filled the airlock with vodka and haven't had any problems with bugs, and the ferment doesn't stink up the house like when we tried with a crock.

The seller was really quick to address an issue I had with one of the rubber stoppers and sent out a replacement right away. Quite happy with the customer service!

It's awesome - read for more details

I got this item promptly in the mail and I immediately made the kimchi following the e-recipe book. I made a couple variants. They were each ready in five days and absolutely delicious. I had no prior kimchi making experience and it still turned out awesome. I ate at a Korean restaurant that week and it tasted exactly the same. Actually, I liked mine a little better. Rory the owner/president also followed up with me in a very friendly way. I wondered a little how to set everything up (they do give instructions but I'm a very visual learner) but by looking at just a couple pictures on google images it was self-explanatory. FOLLOW-UP 8/21/17: After a year with these items, one of the airtight bands loosened from the cap and Rory promptly sent a new one immediately, free of charge. He's always super friendly in communications too. I have recently found other options on Amazon that look a little more durable and fool-proof for the money, but I honestly think this is a great guy and company. Machine washing them or boiling them for a long time have warped the top part a drop... still work but these prob don't last forever unless you wash with a mini scrub brush and warm soapy water as opposed to scalding hot water. I've had these now for almost two years and have made so much awesome stuff; I figure they another year left in them.

Simple, Easy, Perfect!
by Christopher Yow (5 out of 5 stars)

These work great! I've used them to make mead, apple wine, blueberry wine, grape wine, sauerkraut, and kimchi. The lids and bubblers fit and seal perfectly. The water trap ALSO traps fruit flies, so that is an added bonus. I did take it out and wash it out a few times during fermentation.

Great Product and Excellent Customer Service
by Mary Z. (5 out of 5 stars)

I wanted to make my own sauerkraut to have the benefits of the pre and probiotics, and decided to purchase this product after doing a lot of research. I liked the idea of the product being made in the USA by a small company. The fermentation kit arrived quickly, and I followed their instructions. I did contact the company with one concern, and my email was answered almost immediately, and Rory was a pleasure to deal with. Making the sauerkraut was fun, and it's almost like a science project watching the fermentation process. It's been 10 days, and there's no mold or anything that appears worrisome. My mother always made sauerkraut in crocks, and I wish I would have paid more attention to how she made her kraut before she passed away, and I'm too afraid to try using crocks, so I'm doing it the safe way.

Fun!
by Catherine Lockwood (5 out of 5 stars)
December 1, 2016

Great fun! But I couldn't find really fresh baby cucumbers so I settled for not-so-fresh. So the pickles didn't taste crunchy, boo hoo. I still ate them though and enjoyed them. I started eating them very soon before they were "done!" Gradually over time they became more flavorful. When I find those fresh baby cukes, I'll make them again. I also bought those round glass weights for the top: I didn't like the herbs and stuff hanging out in the wind. With the weights, zero maintainance - just enjoy watching them ferment! A lot of the fermented pickles I find these days in the dairy case are too spicy-hot, so I enjoyed making these less spicy and more dilly and herby!

All parts of these lids are easy to clean and store
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)
September 12, 2016

These lids with airlocks are made very well. I use glass weights in the jar to keep veggies under the brine and the lids to prevent air from entering when fermenting veggies. There's no need to 'burp' jars as there is with non-airlock lids & no need to tamp down veggie pieces that float to the surface. All parts of these lids are easy to clean and store. The company advises using vodka in the air-lock tube to kill any fruit flies that may make their way through it's maze and contaminate the veggies. Good idea!

One stopper needed to be replaced. I wrote to the company, got a fast reply & fast ship of a replacement stopper. Great customer service!

Exciting process
by M. Fischer (5 out of 5 stars)
October 11, 2016

My first batch is almost ready to eat! It's going great........very interesting to watch the process in the glass jar. The caps and locks work perfectly!

Oct 30........update. They are great. I have experimented with a couple of different caps and air locks and these are the BEST. Easy to us! I have made sauerkraut, beets , carrots and kohlrabi. All delicious. If you are having problems you need to recheck your technique. It is not the caps for airlock. One does need to keep their veg below the liquid.
