Making it Mobile
by J H (5 out of 5 stars)

We just harvested our first round of broccoli. It was very tender and tasted better than what we buy. Mint is growing like a weed. Keep checking the compost levels- we were surprised how much those earthworms can eat. We were able to make it mobile by putting it on an Olympia furniture dolly without the three bottom braces that came with tower. You can buy it on Amazon for $39.97. We paid more at our local Wal-mart.

Update: The original furniture dolly did not hold up because the constant watering weakened one of the wheels. We switched to a solid wooden rectangle shaped one from tractor supply. So far so good.

Like many other users

Bought the GT2 and started my garden in April. It was fabulous! Like many other users, I live in a condo and it enables me to grow organically. I used my greens for my green smoothie and salads and to be able to have an herb garden right out my patio door is wonderful and the convenience of picking whenever I want is great. I suffered from Rheumatoid Arthritis, so weeding and excessive bending is out of the question. The GT2 enables me to enjoy vegetable gardening with minimal efforts and it is therapeutic for me. Like any other gardens, soil condition and light are the keys. My porch gets limited sunlight, but the greens are still thriving, though might not be robust as other users. The compost bin in the middle have provided me with compost every 2 months, as well as compost tea for other plants as well. Planning to start another GT2 indoors in my utility room soon. The company has a FB user group page, and gives great support and enable users to exchange ideas and help each other to solve problems. I highly recommend getting this product!

Great for condo dwellers growing greens.

This is my second year using the old version of this product (same idea, just a different size) in snowy northeast Ohio. And I've gotta say, I'm impressed. As a condo dweller, I do not have a lot of room to grow veggies on. I use self-watering containers for my tomatoes and green peppers, that take up most of the room on our patio, so had no room to place containers for lettuce, kale, zucchini, cukes, broccoli, etc. Placing the Garden Tower in a flower bed solved that, while remaining so attractive that the condo association gave us no problems. In fact, the president loves the way it looks. All that, and the tower has provided us with salads & greens for smoothies steadily.

I love the integrated composting. Again, there is no way the owners association would have permitted us to compost. The tube, and then red wrigglers have solved that problem.

The only thing that stops this from being a five-star review is that the back of the unit is not productive once the plants facing the sun grow. The plants grow okay during the spring, but the shade soon stunts them. Last year, we planted a broccoli in a north-facing slot that did not head. Wiser this year, we planted spring lettuce in the back. As expected as of now (mid July), it has petered out. The lettuce hasn't gone to seed .Instead, the plants are just... dying.

Still, highly recommended. Especially for condo-dwellers.

UPDATED 04/20/2016: It looks like this now rotates, so the back-side die-off may be a thing of the past. That said, being a tinkerer (should have been an engineer, I think...), I know that the more moving parts a thing has, the more apt it is to fail. So I'd be interested to know how solid the bearings are.

BTW, planting this for year #3 in about two weeks.Just add a little compost and organic fertilizer and minerals and I'm off. :-)

I finally planted my tower and placed water lines from my hydroponics system to water. So far it's looking good. One thing that I didn't like was how the center connects together, it needs improved to connect all the way around each section. I used zip ties on each section to help center and it was still off, but my plant are looking good we will see in a couple months when it gets hot and dry. I also worry about the plastic getting brittle in the sun. Its very expensive if it don't last

Live in an apartment? Get this tower!!!
by Shawntell (5 out of 5 stars)

Man, where do I start? Where do I start?? I'm warning you guys, this is a long review, but I hope this review would further convince you to invest in this AMAZING product!

First, let me say that it helps if you have some background in gardening. This product tries to mimic nature, so that means you need to have some idea of how to plant seeds, how much water the seeds need, how much sunlight your plants need to get, what is the right season to grow anything, how to control pest, etc. It also helps if you know a little bit about vermicomposting (composting with worms). This tower WILL NOT work magic for you. All the rules of gardening in the ground applies to this tower.

My wife and I received this product this past May of 2015. We live in an apartment with 90 square feet of back patio space. Let me say that with so little space, we were able to grow a SIGNIFICANT amount of food and gave some food away! We were able to grow lettuce, eggplant, tomatoes, bell peppers, hot peppers, bok choy, spinach, basil, stevia, broccoli, arugula, Swiss chard, beets, and cilantro.

The Garden Tower has a wonderful composting system. In the center of the tower, there is a compost tube where you could throw your kitchen scraps so that worms could eat them. These worms would go through small holes in the compost bin to fertilize your garden. However, it helps to have some basic knowledge of worm composting. While using the compost system IS NOT necessary, it surely does help boost your garden when done right.

Another great aspect to this tower is that you could grow root vegetables such as potatoes, beets, carrots, garlic, onions, turnips, etc!

This tower is IDEAL for apartment dwellers like me, or for anybody who has a lack of space for a garden like those in townhouses and those in houses with tiny backyards. However, even if you have acres of open fields, you could use this tower for growing indoors during the winter months. You could have food growing ALL year!

Below, I have photos of my tower so you could see what you have to work with. Look at how much I could grow with SO LITTLE space!

So far it's good

Very easy to assemble. Nice that it rotates, but I suspect that will be impractical once the plants get larger. I added a drip line to water this while I'm away on business trips. I'll add more commentary as the plants grow.

Great product and enjoy the ability to mix flowers and food. Works very well and especially the "tea" drawer to return excess water to the top or another planter.
