Product Description

Everyone has the right to feel safe. That’s why we created Instinct – an app-enabled personal safety device that does more than just act as a panic button. With 1, 2, or 3 clicks, it texts contacts your live GPS location, a customizable message, and if you’re safe, uneasy, or in an emergency. Plus, Instinct has step tracking, the ability to locate lost keys, and other hidden talents. We designed it so you'll love carrying it with you every day, so it will be there if you ever need it.

Because safety is a universal need, we made Instinct for women and for men; for kids, teenagers, adults, and the elderly; for medical alerts; for runners; for travelers; for at-risk professionals; for hiking and camping; for students and teachers. For any time when you need help fast, can't reach your phone, can't make a call, can't talk, don't know your address, or need to be discreet – just trust your Instinct.Battery Material: lithium ion

The battery lasts up to a year and is easily replaceable. Simply use the included wearable/keychain accessory to open the device’s battery door when it's time to change the battery.

To use Revolar Instinct, you must have a compatible smartphone. Instinct works with iPhone 5 or newer models operating on iOS 9.0 or above, and with most Android™ smartphones operating on Android 5.0 or above and manufactured by Samsung, LG, Google, and Huawei.

Revolar has a 45-day return policy and offers a 1-year limited warranty. To reach Revolar customer service, email hello@revolar.com.

Not good for seniors living in a house
by Janice M Starbuck (3 out of 5 stars)
September 17, 2017

There is a lot to like about this product and I'm hopeful it will be better soon.

First, it is REALLY irritating they do not state what version of bluetooth it uses. They seem to have made extraordinary effort to hide that information. Not on the web site. Not on the packaging. Not in the user guide. Not anywhere on the web I can find.

RANGE

They clearly state the range is limited to 30-50 ft. No problem when there is clear line of sight between the pendant and phone. But the range is significantly reduced by walls, floors, etc. So fine if you always have your phone with you. Not good if you leave your phone in another room and need to send an alert. My testing in 2 different houses showed it was not reliable when the pendant and phone are separated by 20-25ft and a wall or two. That just doesn't cut it for a senior living on their own in most homes.

CONFIGURATION/FEATURES

Adding these features would mitigate the range issue and probably make it reliable for seniors:
1. Need optional configuration for pendant to beep and/or buzz when it is out of range of the phone for more than X minutes. And continue to beep/buzz every Y minutes until it is back in range.
2. Need optional configuration to automatically send yellow alert when pendant is out of range for more than Z minutes.
3. Need way to ring phone that does not also send an alert (misplaced my phone).

Lastly, need an easier way for an elderly user to cancel an alert or for a contact to cancel an alert remotely.

Good start on a potentially great product. Either extend the range or mitigate the issue with software improvements.

I love this thing

I lost my keys the first night I had Revolar on me! Haha I can't believe it came in handy that fast, it's going to save me. I love this thing.

Overall it was super easy to setup. I loved the short training that showed me how to use it and a trial run trying it out.

The introduction questions in the app setup weren't too invasive. When I started to answer them, I was like aww geez but it wasn't bad at all! I appreciate Revolar not asking about my marital status or my mom's maiden name, etc.

I was worried one of my friends who is a little old would receive the notification to be my contact and deny it because she wouldn't know what it is, but she accepted it immediately. They must've notified her well! I also got some cute responses from my other contacts, one said she was "honored" to be my Revolar contact.

The keychain clip itself is super light and not too bulky for my keychain. cute and sleek. Love the hummingbird.

Sleek, Lightweight, Compact
by PK1245 (5 out of 5 stars)

Design/Style- The visual design of the Revolar Instinct is sleek and compact. It is lightweight and small enough to be inconspicuous while not so small that you are fearful of misplacing it. I love that you can choose to wear it on your person or attach it to your keys. I prefer having it on my keys because I know I will have them with me whenever I leave the house, and it's something I don't even have to remind myself to grab on my way out the door.

Usage/Setup- The device could not be simpler to activate. There are just a couple of simple steps that the app walks you through, and it's about the most painless setup of any technology I have used. I like that you can personalize the automated messages to friends and family, and the "practice sessions" made me confident that I would be able to use the device competently and correctly. Even changing the battery is incredibly simple, which is the only maintenance required, but the battery should last for a year.

Features- I'm a fan of my Fitbit, so I really like that the Instinct also has a step-tracking utility. So often I don't remember to grab my Fitbit when I head out the door, but having the Instinct readily available on my key ring is very convenient. Perhaps my favorite feature is Find My Revolar (another reason I keep it on my key ring) because it seems like we are always searching for a set of keys in our house. It's great to have the Instinct sound off and find your keys in an instant- I imagine that will be a major time saver many mornings!

You certainly hope that you will never have to send out the alerts, but it provides peace of mind knowing that you can reach out to loved ones immediately and they will know exactly where you are. And how many times do my parents still tell me to let them know when I get home safely? With Revolar, that's just a click of a button.

Feeling safe!
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)

I bought this for my girlfriend and it has given me a much needed sense of calm when she is out on her own. She walks to and from work every day through some borderline unsafe areas and often runs at night, so knowing she has Revolar handy should she feel uncomfortable makes me feel a whole lot better. Things that could use work: We would have liked clearer descriptions of what each alert level means when setting up the device, and think there should be different reactions from the device so you know you've sent the alert you meant to. Otherwise, great packaging, slick looking hardware, and a well-designed app!

A must for anyone who travels, works or happens to be solo.

This is essential for anyone who plans to be by themselves for extended periods of time. As a wildlife biologist, this give my family and friends piece of mind to know I am well when I am in the outdoors. I also appreciate how discreet the device is to others. My only complaint is that sometimes the app sometimes has a hard time finding my Revolar even if the device is right next to my phone (which is a galaxy 6). I had to restart the app in order to fix the problem.

Adorable
by Dani (5 out of 5 stars)
June 29, 2017

First of all, it's adorable, but that's definitely not why I bought it. I'm a single woman living by myself in a new city, and I just got a young puppy. I started spending more and more time outside at odd hours and started to feel a little uncertain about my safety since I live off of a busy street.

I started thinking about Revolar since I had looked into them a while back. As a more petite woman, I kept talking myself out of buying their old device because I always felt it was just a tad too large for me to wear. Well, they really did a great job with this new one, it's so tiny and I can't stop looking at it. All my test alerts worked great and I'm all set up with my contacts - this is definitely coming with me on all my morning runs.

Stopped working

Worked well for a few weeks, then stopped working, replaced battery but still doesn't work. Reached out to the company weeks ago, still waiting for response. Frustrated.

My wife and I both have one. Great product.
by AO (5 out of 5 stars)
September 13, 2017

A friend of mine showed me Revolar, and I thought it was so cool that I got one for both me and my wife. Like others have said, it's well-made and has a certain weight to it that lets you know it's there. Setup on the app was easy and took a few minutes. I like that you can pick exactly which contacts get each alert level, and that contacts don't need to download an app to get alerts (they're sent by text and email).

I love that it's useful even if we never have to press it. She uses it as a step tracker on runs, and I use mine as a key finder. While there are other devices that do those things, they don't have emergency functionality. Makes sense to put everything in one device. Not having to ever recharge it is a huge plus, and it's easy to open to eventually change the battery. Also, nice touch making the case the tool to open the device up.

Gonna snag a few more as Xmas gifts this year. One of the best new gadgets out there for sure.

It's reassuring just having this on me
by Priyanka Gandhi (5 out of 5 stars)

The size is nice, love that it fits on my keychain and isn't bulky / heavy. Adding contacts was easy and it was simple getting a sense for the features. There's a lot packed into the device with yellow and red alerts, fake phone calls, custom messages, find my Revolar, step tracking, etc., but the setup trains you well on everything.

It's nice because I don't have to read a screen. In an emergency or panic moment, your brain goes into fight flight or freeze, and mine basically freezes. So it's nice to know I can just push a button without having to formulate thoughts and write a message or something on my phone. Also helpful to have the undo functionality on the app in case I accidentally push through an alert.

I've honestly felt pretty uneasy at times walking around by myself, a feeling I'm sure a lot of women can identify with, so even just having something tangible to hold at those times is a huge wave of relief. Definitely helps that it's not just a little safety blanket but actually something that can help me out in real time. I've also had some moments in the past where I've gotten sick or fainted, and because I live alone, there's always been a huge lag on when I can get in touch with someone to let them know what happened. Comforting to know this can help in those situations too.
