Waste of money way too expensiveby Christen cumba (1 out of 5 stars)

Your child will be happy with it for like 1 hr but after it hatches it's just going to end up in the pile of stuffed animals that get neglected. Way too expensive. This product should cost like $20 max..
Updated version of the original, with the added mystery of not knowing which one you'll get.

I wondered what would make this new Hatchimals Mystery different from the original Hatchimal I bought for my daughter two years ago. It hadn't been delivered more than an hour when my daughter spotted it and wanted to start playing with it.
Much like the original version, a lot of the fun is in getting the little critter to hatch. You have to encourage it some by playing with the egg until it starts pecking at the sides. Unlike the original version, you'll have no idea which color Hatchimal you'll end up with once it hatches. With the first generation you knew it would end up with one of two colors shown on the packaging. But Hatchimals Mystery is just that, a total mystery until it hatches.
This new version is a bit fluffier than the original, and the new Hatchimal knows more games and will record your name so it can say it back to you. You initiate the recording, so when the Hatchimal says it each time, it will actually be in your own voice. It plays back the recording of your name, and you can change the name/recording any time. So when someone's little brother gets a hold of it and records the name Poopyhead, it's not stuck like that forever.
It's a cute toy and seems like it's just a little bit improved upon the original. If your child had the first version and didn't play with it at all after it hatched, I don't think this one will entice them to any more than the first. But if your child loved their first one or never got one of the originals, this Hatchimal Mystery is fun and updated version of the first ones.
Fuzzy Pastel Colored

My daughter got the pastel blue and pink one. This hatchimal is super fluffy, and the wings are covered in a fuzzy material, which my daughter absolutely loved!
She taught it to say her name using the instruction cheat sheet, and based off of the colors of the Hatchimal's eyes, she knows if it's hungry, tired, lonely, etc. (In the package is a little cheat sheet that tells you how to respond for each eye color.) She is a seven year old avid reader, so she took it and read it all herself.
BEWARE!!***I almost threw the cheat sheet away, because it looked like just another piece of paper sitting inside the opened package....my daughter stopped me, because she knew it was in there, she knew to look for it based off of the youtube videos she has watched in the past.
Upon taking it out of the package, it hatched in about 15 minutes. This is my daughters 2nd hatchimal, and she immediately went to retrieve her first hatchimal from her room to play with both of them together.
They are a little loud, and honestly all the "jabber" from these toys can get a little annoying sometimes, because they make a lot of random noises, similar to how the Minions sound (from a parent's perspective) but my daughter loves them. They really spark her creative imagination, and having two hatchimals has opened a whole new world of play her for.
Daughter loves it.

Do not buy unless you want to look like a GRINCH while you break the heart of a little kid eagerly waiting over an hour for something to never "hatch". A totally unnecessary risk here, spend the premium price on something less complicated. If it's defective, like ours is, you're left with hands in pockets and dissapointed faces. Real upset to have introduced this to my Neice as she was overjoyed to receive a magical gift but was left only with 10 adults googling instructions. Will never buy again and will strongly advise people to buy a wonderful toy for half the price and no risk at all. Great idea here but it honestly ruined my neices holiday and therefore mine as well.
Cute, fun, and fuzzy!

Talk about a fun experience! The whole family gathered around while my oldest daughter was hatching her Hatchimal. The eyes lit up and she followed the instructions on what to do with each color that appeared. The hatching took what felt like an eternity to my 3 very excited children which made the surprise egg so much more fun! It took maybe 5-10 minutes to peck through the shell. Her Elefly is so adorable and we really had to yank on it to get it out. She absolutely loves it and it's a very fun and cute interactive toy!
EXPENSIVE !! Does not worth the expense.20 minutes of fun

My six year old son has been asking for a Hatchimal for over a year, and now that his little sister is old enough we decided to get them one during the sales. I was gladly surprised with it. The first stage, inside the egg, was cute, and my 1.5 year old daughter loved playing with it. Then, the hatchimal moved to the "hatching" stage (it took like 10-15 minutes), where it pecks himself out of the egg. That was actually fun even for me, although it is a little noisy-aggressive and it scared my daughter. Once these two steps are done, the egg is trash, and the Hatchimal becomes a regular, semi-interactive plush.
The next three phases (baby, toddler, kid) are very similar, and they mostly consist on the hatchimal walking around, changing eye color and talking. The fun lasted around 2 hours total and now, as most people say, it is just sitting in a shelf.
Overall, a fun, original toy that might be overpriced for how long it will get played.
