Wood burner, not engraver.

To call this product an engraver is a huge stretch, perhaps even a lie. It's a wood burner. It does not have the power to truly engrave wood because it has to spend so much time in the same spot to do anything that it just ends up burning the wood. You need a much more powerful laser (10-20w or higher) than this one (which is less than 1w at max power). It earns points from me for build quality, especially of the enclosure, which is very solid. Unfortunately, the enclosure is not even big enough to accommodate a phone case, so it isn't much use and forces you to use the product without the enclosure, which is incredibly dangerous to the eyes.

The most remarkable feature is that cubiio can engrave large vertical object! My time-lapse movie shows how it works. Search cubiio baseball bat"� and you will find a video that cubiio engraves a baseball bat! That's really amazing. Cubiio's app is a little quite simple. However it's enough. I am glad to see the app was updated continuously in the past months. I can use other professional software/app to edit images and then transfer to cubiio to laser out as well. One more thing I thought it can engrave metal but it can't

It's really useful and surprisingly easy to use. I got cubiio last year on Kickstarter, so far I have most of my stuff customized. And the results are amazing.

The engraving is pretty smeared. Not very finely detailed. You cannot do shades of grey, only completely black or completely white. Also it's hard to center objects on the platform. The app is awesome though, easy to use (there are only 3 buttons). Great safety features.
