When you unbox it and see your Mekamon come to life for the first time it's like watching a baby animal waking up in the room. It's fun! Kind of like a new weird pet in the family.

We tried the AR gaming and the robot is fierce. You can teach it moves and get it to do some cool stuff. Not tried the one on one yet but can only think it will be as good as the AR .

It's worth the money and with all the updates it looks like it's getting better all the time.

This was supposed to be a birthday gift so imagine the receiver's disappointment and my embarrassment when it did not hold a charge straight out of the box. We are unsure if we will exchange since we have lost confidence in the product.

This is an update of my review. Out of the Box the orginal battery would not charge, so was dead on arrival.

I emailed Mekamon, who sent out a new battery and charger, there customer service is amazing.

It's only when something is not going do you know if a company stands by their products, and Mekamon certainly do.

The robot is well built and the AR games are great.

If there is only one thing, is legs click in certian positions, and games, but is stated this happens, so have safety clutches to prevent leg damage and this is what the clicks are.

Apart from this, all works fine.

Legs can come off with a press of the button underneath, so new legs can be bought if needed and the V2 legs will fit V1.

This robot is fun.

I wasn't able to use the Mekamon at all. It was delivered 2 times with the same issue. It did not work . The only thing that functioned at all was the green light on the battery charger.

I wasn't able to use the Mekamon at all. It was delivered 2 times with the same issue. It did not work . The only thing that functioned at all was the green light on the battery charger. Maybe because this is a V1 version it has sat on Amazons shelves to long and the battery is dead ? I have emailed customer service and they want me to take a video. %$###@ . the blank blank charger or batter is dead. How much more simple can I make it. we will see what customer support does when they reply. I actually did get the one charger to turn red by charging the battery over night till it reached 4.5 volts then when I plugged it in with battery connected it turned red and charged it in about 45 min. I think the problem here is the batteries have been sitting to long and have been totally drained
2 or 3 days and no response from customer service, except i think an automated response opening another ticket and saying they respond in one day ?

after 2 weeks the service dept responded and apologized , said they were moving offices. they are sending out V2 battery and charger . That should resolve my charging problem

Have had the Mekamon for about a week. Will be updating after this weekend where I can play with other friends.

I've been following MekaMon for a while now. Their concept is very interesting - a gaming robot with augmented reality game play. It's a cool concept but incredibly hard to pull off. With some skepticism, I bought the V2. Who buys V1 of anything these days? Unless you're a hardcore fan, V2's are always better. I'm a nerd, gamer and tinker-er.

THE ROBOT

I've played with many of MekaMon's competitors (Anky, Sphero, etc.) and while they are impressive in their own right, Mekamon is on another level. First off, this bad boy has 12 joints in it allowing it to move in incredible ways. It's kitted out with loads of sensors. MekaMon has a character of it's own from the moment you insert the battery. It waves, it does pushups to show off... it's absolutely incredible.

THE AUGMENTED REALITY

The AR gameplay aspects are much better than I expected. It doesn't require any mats or additional accessories to make it work. The mapping seems to be on point with vary little variance in quality or lag. I downloaded the app before my MekaMon arrived and to my surprise I was able to play with an AR version of my MekaMon to learn the controls and basics of the game.

BACK STORY

The backstory is interesting and I'm very excited to see where the MekaMon universe goes. The setup is intriguing but you can tell they developers focused on fleshing out the gameplay before the back story.

SOLO GAMEPLAY

Really really fantastic. There are a couple ways to play:

Freedrive - In this game mode, you drive your MekaMon around. You are able to mess with different settings to see how the MekaMon reacts

MekaMotion - Create new and unique motions for the MekaMon. It's fun, and I'm really excited to explore this portion of the experience more.

Skirmish (with and without robot) - A single player battle experience. I would say this is again to a wave style game where you battle one person and the next level is 3 enemies and so on and so forth.

BATTLE MODE -

I have not played multi-player battle mode yet, but will be over the Thanksgiving break. I will report back with an update.

APP DESIGN -

The app design is stunning. The attention to detail, texture and user experience is a more on the standard of a large AAA game release than a small indie company.

Again I've only had my MekaMon for about a week, but I am planning on putting it through the ringer over the thanksgiving break. Expect to see an update with photos and videos.

It's a very nicely built robot that moves so lifelike. Most consumer type robots do very little but MekaMon can be programmed to move in many ways and of course it also has great play value with its AR games and can do battles with other MekaMon robots. I'm into RC cars and planes so this is fun and different.

I purchased this for my 9 year old son. He was so excited until it came and didn't work. The battery arrived dead and would not charge. Previous reviews stated this but I was dumb enough to order anyway. I emailed the company with no response. I thought I would give it a chance again and returned it. Thankfully amazon sent it out right away. We received the second one with the exact same problem. This item should be removed and not allowed to be sold on amazon, I have no idea how they are still in business. My son used his birthday money and is so disappointed. Save your time and money. The only thing good about this product is the packaging and the robot. It's a shame batteries are all defective.

Not changing at all. The battery is not charging like many previous reviews. I want to return it, if they didn't respond my email.
