Wouldn't recommend

I'm not satisfied with this product at all. I have the previous generation of the triangle shaped panels and haven't had an issue but I really regret buying these. The buttons on the control square don't seem to work and to get the rhythm setting working your music has to be very loud. On the bright side the the squares themself look great but I wouldn't waste my money on these again.

Do not purchase these LED squares. There is a possibility that one day they will be usable after many, many updates to the firmware, but that day is far in the future. It's going to be an incredibly frustrating process to debug any problem because the software is also very buggy. I have 100+ IoT devices, and have rarely interacted with something so clearly released in an alpha state.

I have two sets of these. One of the controllers is completely bricked, and crashes seconds after it is reset. The other functions consistently--consistently poorly. One of the features of these tiles is that they are touch sensitive. BUT the touch detection is mind-numbingly awful. It's a hardware limitation: If there is any load (like, say, a dynamic scene) on the controller, it will just drop the majority of touch events. Think how much you would love your phone or tablet if only one in five touches was recognized.

There is *some chance* that if they simplify the firmware so that it performs only a few limited functions, and then let more complicated actions be relegated to a hub or some other device, then these things might have enough resources to respond to real-time events in a functional way. That day is not today. All "demos" of people playing, e.g., games are either faked or not on stock hardware.

Nanoleaf Canvas wouldn't boot upon arrival; many, many reboots finally managed to get it to work once... and then it locked up again after a hard reboot. Nanoleaf sent a replacement control tile, couldn't get it to boot, let alone pair. Loved the idea of the Nanoleafs, but I expected a $200 product to be working within a month. Returned as defective.

I was completely DUPED!

I ordered a NanoLeaf Starter package! The product was missing EVERYTHING!!! INSTEAD it had 6 WHITE BATHROOM TILES!!!!

The product I received was missing 8 display squares, the Power cable, 1 control square, 9 linking connectors, and 28 mounting strips! I want a replacement ASAP. Unacceptable that these items were removed from the package that I received!

Bought these for my daughter's room and she loves them. Easy to set up, great colors, and very fun to play with via the app.

I simply wish they weren't so expensive as you're fairly limited in patterns with 9 tiles, but it is what it is.

These are wonderful. You can make them as bright as you'd like, so they're even amazing in a a brightly lit room.

Hopefully it gets a firmware update (have already reach out the Nanoleaf team, and no response, nada) to address "rhythmic light" ON when on stand by. IT IS VERY ANNOYING IT (SEE PIC) I suggested (email sent to Nanoleaf) to have all "menu lights" off by app OR pressing a combination of it to have it off. And got no response ... I will update the review IF it get fixed. otherwise stay way from it. I am considering LIFX. I will get it and review it on here.

and btw don't let the promo pictures to deceive you. It shows designs of HEARTS, WHALES, etc .... it does not work like that u do not have a setting to make it light up like the promo pics. pure mkt.

Awesome high-tech smart lights

I was a big fan of the original Nanoleaf Light Panels (the triangle panels). And the Canvas Lights are even better and more versatile because of the square shape. I'd recommend buying an extra panel set, so you have more options. If you're a fan of smart lights and innovative tech gadgets, these are fantastic. I have the original set in my ManCave. The Canvas set went up in the Family Room. They're a great conversation starter!
