These came tonight and, to fulfill a promise to my 5 1/2 year old son, I read them all to him, which took about 50-55 minutes. These are golden books in the sense that they do a good job minimizing or glossing over some of the violence (for example, Obi Wan is struck down, but no mention of his death and there is no explanation of how badly Anakin is mangled after his final battle before donning the iconic suit). All of the major plot points are hit in these books, so they are (1) great at giving the story and (2) super complex (the first three books in particular can be very confusing because of the the different factions). Thus, if you were imagining golden books with simplified story lines and easy to read words and concepts, think again.

My son loved them and I'll probably have to get him an ewok stuffed animal (should have seen that one coming). The big take away is that these are awesome books that fully engage a child in the Star Wars universe but they are in no way easy or level appropriate for new and newer readers.

Based on my son's response, I highly recommend them to you. I hope this review helps

"Santa" got these for my son for Christmas and I'm pretty sure we've gone through the entire series at least 5 times by now. I've never seen him so enthralled with a book that he'll ask to keep it after I finish reading it to him and he'll flip through the pages on his own and tell himself the story. Does an amazing job of condensing the movies down to the length of a children's book without skipping anything important and sometimes even improving things (only one page of Jar-Jar, no cringe-worthy George Lucas penned dialogue).

I just caved and bought the Force Awakens Golden Book just to have something different to read. We've already gone through it 3 times now.

I bought this set (and book #7) as a Christmas gift for my 4 year old son. We had been reading several Star Wars board books before bed that focused on the alphabet, numbers, and colors. He seemed to love the Star Wars characters, so I figured this book set would be a great way of him learning the stories. They are pretty short, but I feel its a great length for a pre-bed story. They are not so long that his attention starts to drift, but stiff sufficient to get across the main points of each story. My hope is that once we get through these several times (we read 1 book per night, in order), he'll be ready to sit down and attempt the movies. :)

Well-written, well-illustrated book for kids

Outstanding quality, as expected from Little Golden Book. I was looking for a "beginner's" Star Wars book for my 3 yr old great nephew, who is just learning about Star Wars. His father, my nephew, has been a Star War's freak for more than 25 years, so he's enjoying introducing it to his son. The description of this book stated it was a basic explanation of the Star War's movies for 4-6 yr olds. I think that's a good description. They are very pleased with it and are having a good time reading it together. Being a Little Golden Book, it's sturdy and is very colorful. With the resurgence in interest of Star Wars with the most recent movie release, this would be a good way for any child to be introduced to it so they understand what all the "hoopla" is about!

The Force is strong with this one...

So as any good father in a galaxy far, far away does, he introduces his children to the Star Wars universe who grew up loving! My daughter, who is three, only got interested in Star Wars because I watched the trailer for The Force Awakens, and some additional Star Wars nerd-fan videos online and she instantly loved Darth Vader and Yoda! Now, she is obsessed, and this Little Golden Book collection is perfect for her! It keeps to the key details of the stories, and makes them palatable for a toddler. It avoids going into more mature detail, but holds their attention with great pictures, solid writing, and just fun altogether. If you get this, you will not be disappointed, and neither will your little Jedi padiwan!

We have both Star Wars Trilogy in ever form of children's book including the originals from the late 70's and early 80's so I wasn't sure that these were needed but what the heck, it's Star Wars! So I purchased them and immediately found that my daughter who is 3 was much more interested in reading these than the others. These books are much "Softer" than most others and really more about Star Wars being fun and everyone being nice with interesting creatures vs. Good vs. Evil. They do still do a great job roughly telling the story. The artistry is excellent and they have become an integral part of our evening reading time!

Highly recommended for aspiring young Star wars fan. My kids are 3 and 5.

I am a Jedi like my Father before me....

My Five year old daughter and four year old son have recently discovered and ultimately fallen in love with Star Wars just like their mom and dad. They also have begun reading everything in sight! I was so excited to find some age appropriate books for them. It has wonderful drawings and a perfectly summarized version of each story My kids have devoured these books and reread them every chance I give them. I am so happy that we have found something to encourage their love of reading and their very active imagination. I can not wait to search for more of these little Golden Book gems.

It is a much cheaper price than we found on other sites or in stores and we found many different books on Amazon that we have not seen anywhere else.

Great way to share Star Wars with the littles!

Very nice way to share Star Wars with my young-in. He's too little for the movies, but he's learned enough about Star Wars through osmosis, but these books helped fit in gaps. Actually, I got these because he was asking me to tell him the story and I had trouble avoiding the violence. These do a nice job of tip-toeing around things like Luke getting his hand cut off or Anikin slaughtering the jedi. Great price for the collection too! I've already bought Force Awakens!

Slight binding issue.

Came shrink wrapper. Ordered as a gift, and was curious to open it. As I took the books out of their box, they were all clean cut and looked brand new, except one. One of the books stuck to the other ones next to it. The bind was misprinted and had glue coming out of all the ends which caused the other books to stick to it. I would definitely recommend to opened them and look at it first!
