I am a teetotaler, I don't drink, smoke or do drugs, but I also have no problem with other people doing whatever they want with their own bodies. I also consider myself to be a fairly competent chef, and combined with the fact that this book was only $3, I thought it might be an interesting read. Additionally, my grandfather died from wasting syndrome secondary to pulmonary fibrosis; had medical marijuana been available he probably would have lived several years longer and I'd have likely needed to learn how to prepare medicinal edibles.
And I did learn quite a bit from this book. I'd always assumed you just chopped the stuff up and tossed it into the batter or whatever the same way you would use oregano. Boy was I ever wrong.
The introduction contains technical information, such as differences between marijuana and hemp, differences between ingesting and smoking pot, chemical composition, etc, that helps you understand exactly what you're trying to accomplish in the first chapter.
The first chapter of the book is the basic recipes, such as THC oil, cannabutter, tinctures, glycerites, marijuana flour, etc. This is the most important and most useful section of the book. Much like the five French mother sauces, once you've figured out how to make these base items, the rest of the book is pretty much the same as any other cookbook. In fact, you could probably adapt just about anything you'd find in the Joy of Cooking by replacing the oil or butter with an infused version.
Whether you're in need of medicine or just wanting to enjoy some herbal refreshments, this book is a great place to learn the basics.
Extremely Informational

This book offers so much information about different strains, I was shocked. I expected a plain cook-book, but what I got was information regarding the cannabis you use and the different effects it has on the food you cook with! It's awesome!

Great recipe choices and I like the dosage information. The book has clear explanations of the correct mindset to have when cooking with Cannabis, take it slow, It's an attractive book with the content I want. The recipes are more like comfort food to me, but I like that. Somebody stated in a review that the recipes were weak. They are supposed to be. There are too many variable that change the effect: quality of product, tolerance of the person consuming the food, etc. Cooking is about enjoying the food and experience, not getting blasted. It's not cool to lose control. Anyway, great content and great approach to the subject matter. Thank you, High Times.
Waste of money!

Vast majority of recipes are really impractical. It would be irresponsible to serve some of the offerings given that no dosages are defined nor portioned. Would have preferred more bite sized recipes than main course recipes. At least with the bite size recipes it is relatively easy to determine the amount of THC in each serving. How does one do that with a slice of roast or anything else that is unmeasured. Book was a great disappointment.
If you like edibles this is the cookbook for you.

This is the first cannabis cookbook that I actually enjoyed reading and using. It doesn't go out of it's way to try to be "clever" or "funny" like a lot of the other cannabis cookbooks out there. It is full of great easy recipes that taste great and are very potent. Excellent Buy.
Great cookbook, especially for a beginner

Great cookbook, especially for a beginner. Gives you recipes for infused olive oil, butter and tinctures, even flour! I have made most of the recipes in this book and some are them are little odd, like peanut butter filled jalapenos! Haven't tried them yet but I am sure they are a great combo.
Great Book!
