Product Description

WOW-Keys is a full size QWERTY keyboard that allows you to input text into your iPhone from its keys. It can also be used to input commands into your computer from your iPhone. The WOW-keys actually merge the multi-touch capabilities of the iPhone with the PC. Swap modes quickly with the touch of a button, and execute common tasks via 12 HOT Keys made specifically for interacting with the iPhone. The hotkeys include a way to pause, play, skip a song forward or back, as well as increase or reduce the brightness of your display. You can even search, go through your photo album, or turn the display off. Simply flick a switch on the keyboard and you can use your iPhone as a number pad or interact with certain apps (not included). The keyboard can also function as your standard USB keyboard, all the while keeping your iPhone synced and charged at the same time. This is compatible with PC, MAC, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch.

Disapointed

I bought this product for several reasons. I wanted to reduce the number of cables on my desk and free up one of my USB ports on the computer. I was also excited about being able to keep my phone so handy.

I ended up returning the product after it failed to sync my phone. While I had it this is what I noted:

The keys have a nice snap to them, they are responsive and easy to use with an audible click. The key size is pretty good, I didn't often hit more than one at a time.

Aside from not syncing as advertised I also was displeased with the layout of the keyboard. The back space key is only 1/2 size and thus easy to miss. It is right next to the Delete key which was a little frustrating when I would reach for backspace and hit Delete instead.

The space bar is very short. On an average space bar I could fit aprox. 6 fingers across the length. This space bar is more like 3 or 4 fingers in length. Not a big dead but a bit cramped.

With the docking station and extra buttons on the right hand side the total length of the keyboard is still a little shorter than my Lenovo version which has the number pad extension in place but no docking extension. This keyboard does not have a number pad extension and is significantly heavier than I anticipated. It does have the standard arrow keys but every thing is so jammed together that it is too easy to hit the wrong key. I wish that the keyboard was set up as a standard length, with number pad, and the dock was on the end of that length.

This keyboard does not feature F11 or F12 buttons which is not a big deal for me but some programs require them.

A quick search has shown me that Amazon does not offer an Iphone 5 compatible version. I read some reviews that said an adapter could be used but I wouldn't recommend it. The cradle is not shaped right to support the longer phone with an added extension. I would be concerned about damage to the charging port of the phone or one of the accessories due to the weight of the phone that would be unsupported and put pressure on the connection at an angle.

I gave this item three stars despite the lack of sync connection because I love the versatility of an item like this once they fix a few bugs. The item arrived quickly (I'm a prime member so they usually do for me) and in new condition without any damage to any of the packaging. It didn't require set up with the computer, just plug and go. There wasn't a bunch of advertising crap in the box with it, and the return process has been streamlined since the last return I made. Despite the product not working like I anticipated. the overall experience isn't bad.

I will add a few photos to the my review at a later date.

Awesome, except for ONE little thing...

Pretty much this keyboard works amazing. I've just been putting it through it's paces and everything it lists as a feature it does well. The switching between PC and iPhone is great. The keyboard works great on the iPhone and it's nice finally to see the screen without the extra keys having to pop up. Furthermore, there's a COMMAND key on this keyboard which is great for those Mac only options.

I'm personally going to order a dock extender cable today and then connect an iPad up to this instead of using a bluetooth. This would work so much better as a desktop keyboard being able to interface with the iPad and the computer at the same time.

However, my one complaint is the location and size of the home key literally next to the delete key. Already in writing this review, I've hit it almost every time I have to delete something. Then, to make matters worse, the delete key is mad small, literally the same size as every other button. It feels like I have to mentally remind myself to "stretch" in order to hit the key when I want it. This is only part of the design I don't get, since they have a FN key, why not make HOME an extra function key and enlarge the delete key? No idea. But it's fairly annoying until you get the hang of it, and even then, when you accidentily push it, it's just really frustrating.

Overall, so far, a good buy.

Awesome Idea. Needs to have better quality control

First of all. I've had this keyboard about two days. I use it at work and I type contstantly. I'm a sales consultant for a car dealership that really embraces technology. I'm constantly answering emails and a barrage of text msgs. I got very tired of doing all that on my tiny iphone. So I got this keyboard to make the text msgs reply less painfull lol.

Less than two days use and this damn "E" key sticks constantly. Even as I'm typing this. This may be a deal breaker for me.

It does what it says it's going to do though. I would recommend getting a 30pin to 30pin extension for phones with cases. In the sunlight, there is a lot of washout on the iphone screen, due to the angle of view when docked.

So I just came back to this review and changed it from one star to three starts. Why? Because I took the key apart and put it back together. I cleaned it with a Q-tip. It seems to be a little better. I suspect that the plastic structure behind the key is just a little to tight and that's what is causing the key to stick. As the structure gets dirty or dusty, it will stick again. The other keys do feel a little easier to press, even after I cleaned this "E" key.

I shouldn't have had to clean this thing. It's brand new and only days old to me. Had this not happened, I'd be giving this thing a 4 out of 5 starts.

Update: three days later.

So I got the 30pin to 30pin dock extension. I like not having to remove my case every day. However, I don't like all the clutter with the cord and I don't like having to reach further away to hit the send key on the phone after using the keyboard to input the text.

This product desperatly needs a send key for text msgs. If it had this, It would be awesome.

I'm going to leave this a 3 out of 5 stars.

It was wonderful until it stopped working

I first bought one of these keyboards around a year or so ago for my iPhone 4S. I absolutely loved it. Yes, the placement and sizing of some of the keys is very irritating, but it's nothing that you won't get used to after a few days of constant use. Just being able to use all of my fingers to type on my phone instead of just my thumbs was fantastic! I even bought one for my husband, and then another one for the office. The fact that it worked as a dock too was just the icing on the cake.

HOWEVER, with the iOS 7.1 update, the keyboard no longer works with any iPhone that I've tried it with. The lights on the keyboard just cycle through phone, computer, scroll lock, and caps lock. None of the buttons register anything on my phone. I have reset all of my settings, restarted my phone several times, and researched the Apple forums for help. Nothing. I've tried plugging the keyboard into an outlet with an adapter instead of a computer, and tried it not plugged in at all (FYI, you can use the keyboard without a computer). I've tried other computers, everything I could think of. No dice.

The keyboard itself still works as a normal computer keyboard, but that's not why I bought it. I have sent a message to the manufacturer, but I don't have high hopes for a response. I now have an ugly, small keyboard with fewer functions than a regular keyboard on my desk that I can't even use for the original purpose. I am very disappointed.

Despite high potential, the product is lousy

As awesome as this sounds, it's too good to be true. For starters there's no volume adjustment for mac users, the sole means of adjusting speaker volume is using your mouse and the volume icon in the start bar (there are no keyboard keys or shortcuts). Second, and more importantly, the keyboard tends to lock up if your phone is docked and the computer goes idle for a while. Additionally, the keyboard freezes often and randomly and has to be reset via unplugging the usb chord. The keyboard layout is very oddly constructed, and will definitely take some getting used to for anyone who's used to the mac-style keyboard layout.

It's clear that Omnio (or whoever the parent company is) needs to put out software support that prevents the keyboard from locking up. Absent that, you're going to have a lot of inconvenient problems concerning functionality.

Skip this product...Good idea, but fragile and soon obsolete

I have three kids each with an iPod Touch. This was a great solution when the keyboard on their computer broke because they could charge their iPod while doing homework, etc.

And there's one less cord/dock laying around.

The bad:
- Its fragile: Already four keys (T, Y, Caps Lock and the left Command) have all stopped working!
- There's no room for a mouse on the hideaway keyboard tray since this is wider than a normal keyboard.
- The keyboard layout is tight with little tactile differentiation between keys - I consider myself a fast, "proper" typist and I really had trouble adjusting to this keyboard. My kids didn't seem to mind.

Skip this product and find another...besides, the iPod adapter is about to become obsolete.

Works as advertised

Pros: With a motherboard that allows for USB ports to charge while the PC is off this keyboard is a great place to dock your iPhone. The wow - keys app is nice for adding back a ten key function to your keyboard. It also is nice to be able to switch the keyboard so that it gives your iPhone a standard keyboard for some iPhone apps - as well as instant messaging while docked into this keyboard.

Cons: The ad stats that this keyboard is more like a laptop keyboard which is partially true. This keyboard does not have F11 or F12 keys and every laptop I've ever used did. Not a real big issue unless your like me and use the F11 and F12 keys frequently.

All in all a nice addition to your iPhone accessories.

Poor quality and does not have any support.

When purchased this keyboard I thought I was buying something that would save me a lot of time. But it is no longer compatible with new versions of the iOS operating system. The keys feel different from the distribution. It costs too much to write as there are keys that are too small

He never acknowledged my phone, look which was the official site of this product in the hope of finding support or updated to allow me to use the keyboard properly but there is no such thing page for drivers.

Very Buggy, Gave this 6 Months and then returned it!!!

So, not sure if the platform contributes to how this keyboard works or not, but I was using this with Windows. I noticed too, that once I updated my iPhone's OS, the keyboard seemed to work less efficiently. I had to constantly unplug and replug it back in to get it to work, and even when it did work, it would stop working without notice. Sometimes I would be in the middle of typing and I'd get a string of the same letter repeating endlessly across my screen as if I were holding down a key. Sometimes the keyboard would switch to iPhone mode and stay there unless I unplugged and replugged the keyboard back in. This would happen contantly, and after so long, I finally decided to return it, which makes me sad because this product as great potential...

One good thing is Amazon gave me my full refund (after 6 months!) minus a small restocking fee...so if you feel the need, you can return this product, too!

Not supported on iOS 7, manufactuer website useless!
by Spencer Little (1 out of 5 stars)

Not supported on iOS 7.1! Well this product was a great idea, and then the company orphaned the product. The product is NOT supported, and does not work with a phone running iOS 7.1 or higher. I bought it for xmas and had to return it first thing. Seller was fine, but the product is an orphan now. The manufacturer website is useless, there is no support. Amazon has more information about this product than the manufacturer website.
