Great compact lighter for a great price
by Yancy Smith (4 out of 5 stars)

Great lighter. Lights cigars with ease. The top flips open quickly and closes quickly. The switch slides easy and smooth. The cigar punch isnt as sharp as I was hoping but it does ok. The punch is easy to clear. Sometimes I have to give it a couple tries to light but lights without fail.

Careful when setting the amount of fuel because if you max it out you could seriously burn yourself as it could squirt liquid fuel out so I keep it at about 50%. Anymore than that is a waste of fuel.

It is made of polymer and metal. Feels much heavier than expected but I like it that way.

Overall... this is an A+ lighter. Would definitely buy again.

Can't go wrong
by Rapalaman617 (5 out of 5 stars)

Very nice little lighter. It has a sturdy build, a great flame, and looks great too. It's easy to adjust the flame height which is very helpful depending on what you're smoking. Easy to refill, and almost always strikes up a strong flame on the first try. I was a little worried about the switch becoming loose because I tend to fidget with it a bit, but it has held up great so far and is the only lighter I use now. The punch works great too if you like to punch your cigars (I prefer to cut personally but the few times I've tried the punch it works great. The only slight draw back is that it burns up fuel pretty quick but this can be managed by shortening the flame and not just messing around with it for fun like I do...Above all you can't find a better torch for this price, highly recommended.

P.S. The carry bag is quite handy too, helps keep it free from scratches.

great product with a couple of slight hitches
by primeguy (4 out of 5 stars)

works great,

good:
- looks like 3 afterburners,
- weighty and solid feeling, reminds you of a watch or other high quality small heavy device,
- my kid called it a lightsaber....
- works great in significant wind
- puts out a very significant flame
- can be used as a great hiking / camping fire starter
- can be used in a pinch as a self defense item... feels like a roll of nickels in a fist and lighting it, then contacting someone else would induce a very significant pain instantly

bad:
- You MUST purge it and prime it before charging it with butane, then wait 30 minutes for the seals to set before using it.... it has an instruction book that has big STOP sign on it, but only on one side and it came out backwards and I didn't see the warning
- the instruction book is vague with no pics, so it's not very user friendly, but understandable
- it requires a deliberate pull on the slide to ignite so sometimes you get no flame if you are a little slow with it
- the flame height adjustment doesn't go down far enough so if you are looking to save fuel, forget it, this thing chows butane fast
- when lighting a cigarette, it's best to angle your head up, which most people don't do, because it puts out so much heat it will burn your face
- with cigarettes, you need to take care to align the SIDE of the angled flame evenly across the tip of the cig so that you don't touch a third of the cig on the bottom

It's still a great bargain, overall a great lighter, works really well with candles, lights a cigarette instantly...

Amazing for a triple torch
by Maxwell Addams (5 out of 5 stars)

First off, the lighter has an amazing feel in your hand. I mean, just holding it makes you feel important. For all the people who say that the lighter has a "low capacity", that's because it's a triple torch, torch lighters waste butane like no tomorrow, and this has three. This particular lighter's fuel consumption is surprisingly good, if you know how to fill a lighter. Those who just push the butane on and release after a second do not know how to fill their lighters for more than one or two cigars worth. Push the butane canister downwards on the lighter filler nozzle and hold for about 30 seconds and it's got a good fill (all lighters are different). I use Ronson Multi-Fill with all my torches and it works great. I have friends who just play with my lighters. I light cigars, cigarettes, the bbq, and even hookah charcoals and i haven't filled it more than three or four times in the month that i've owned it. The punch works amazingly and lights my cigars in about 2 seconds, in any weather! It was -2 outside with heavy wind, and the torch lit up first pull of the switch! Great lighter that will impress even non-smokers. Love it and definite amazing addition to my collection. Great buy for anyone with any purpose.

The jury is out
by Buhlz_I (3 out of 5 stars)

This is the third Scorch I've purchased in the last 18 mos. The jets on the first unit began to fail resulting in the flame becoming more of a flickering flame than the robust flame you expect from a normal triple jet lighter.

The second unit stopped igniting within a month of purchase. I was able to get it working by cleaning the jets with brake cleaner. After about six months the flickering issue observed with the first unit appeared. Had to scuttlebutt the device and buy the third unit.

Bottom Line: Its a $15 lighter...don't let your hopes of getting a low cost quality lighter offset your expectations

Lights cigars quickly with ease!
by Austin Themens (5 out of 5 stars)

This is a great lighter. Super sleek and lights cigars quickly. As far as durable I am not quite sure because it broke when someoone dropped it the first time. In the lighters defense (and the reasokn I didn't take a star away) the person was drunk and somehow managed to hold it upside down and burn himself before dropping it (you all know how drunk people can break anything)

Works well every time, hot triple flame
by ndez (5 out of 5 stars)

Solid, heavy, substantial feel. Nice contours in the hand. Even on lowest setting, the triple flame lights cigars with ease and finesse. Surprisingly, it is NOT a butane guzzler. More than half the time it lights first try, the rest of the time on second try. (I'm using Xicar Purofine and I always purge prior to refill)

The shape is kind of chunky and heavy for carrying in a pocket, and not beautifully sculptural nor "designy" enough as a cool tabletop conversation piece, but -- importantly -- it IS a solid, reliable, inexpensive lighter that feels good in the hand and gives the impression it'll last for a long time.

I recommend this Scorch.
==== update: less than 6 months after purchase ====

I still like this lighter, but it now fails to shut off gas immediately upon releasing the slider. I can hear gas for another 1-3 seconds. Sometimes flames are spouting around the closed cover for a second. (Oh, sooo dramatic in the dark!) This lighter has seen only light use (at most, average 3x a week over 6 months). Too bad it's now using twice as much butane for each light.

Best inexpensive lighter but fill with quality butane
by jdeg (4 out of 5 stars)
July 21, 2015

These little guys are great. For the price they cant be beat.

Necessary advice: buy high quality butane! I get it, you just bought the cheapest butane lighter ever and now youre going to look for the cheapest butane. You thrive on finding cheap versions of things and you want to ride the high. NO. Dont skimp on butane. I bought some low quality stuff on here to fill the lighters and they break. Not right away but they only last about 6months with the cheap stuff. The Zippo brand butane is only a few dollars more and last for a REALLY LONG TIME. its 100% worth it. Save your money and buy this awesome cheap lighter but fill it with good stuff or in about 6 months you be all "ughh jdeg was so right and I am so stupid why did i not learn from his mistakes and insist on finding out for myself?!"

Works great once adjusted properly
by Andrew in ROC (4 out of 5 stars)
June 29, 2013

I love the size, shape and style of this little lighter. It worked great out of the box for about 2 weeks and I'd rate it 5 stars during that period. Then it started to sputter and wouldn't stay lit and had progressively gotten worse to the point of unusable. During that period I was also adjusting the flame height screw on the bottom with no improvement. Then I just realized the screw I was turning is not an adjustment screw--- Embarrassing for me. The flame adjustment is not a screw but is done with a screw driver by turning the port where the fuel goes in. THE ILLUSTRATION ON THE PAPERWORK WAS ILLEGIBLE or I wouldn't have made this mistake. However once I tweaked the proper adjustment the lighter is working great again. Maybe all torch lighters adjust in this manner and it was a newbie mistake. I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars because of the illegible illustration showing how to adjust. Functionally it's great!

Not bad for the money
by Clint Brewer (4 out of 5 stars)
March 18, 2017

This little lighter is worth the $12+ dollars. I needed it in a pinch for a beach trip to light cigars after my Colibri of 10-years crapped out, and it does that very effectively. Upsides are it is heavy in the hand and does blast wind-resistant flame. Down side is it rarely fires on the first click if it has been resting on its side, which it pretty much has to be due to the design and small base. Also, the cigar punch is pretty ineffective due to a lack of sharpness and odd angle. For the price, you are getting maybe a little more than you payed for. Not a long-term investment, but better than a $6 gas station lighter. Quick shipping if you order it via Prime.
