I bought this as a gift for Christmas... First time used it fell apart... They will not let me return because I bought a Christmas gift and time lapsed even though it is not made very well. STAY AWAY from this item and Seller!!!

Points of most stress are plastic, and will break.
by Exydon (1 out of 5 stars)

This broke before I was even able to test it. Following directions to attach the saw blade resulted in snapping the attachment points of the cam lever to the axe shaft. Now it's just a mediocre hatchet. Many of the important bits that would have the most stress exerted on them are plastic... And this is not a cheap item. I would recommend looking elsewhere for a woodcutting multitool.

Broke loading saw blade
by Brenda K (2 out of 5 stars)
December 11, 2013

The tool itself is exactly what we wanted. However, be careful loading or installing the saw blade. If you use the wrong hole on the blade once you go to snap it closed and secure it, it will break. A little piece came flying off across the room. We wanted to return it but found out it would be back ordered. We tested it out despite the break and with some creativity were able to use it anyway. So - use caution and read the directions when loading the blade.

avoid this product

Zippo cheaped out building this product! Look at the picture. Where the blade attaches to the orange grip, this is made of outrageously flimsy plastic. WTF were they thinking? As much as I'd like to give this product a good rating, it is a dud. I'm already working on a fix for the orange plastic screw up and I haven't owned it a day.

Good idea VERY POOR construction
by Paul (1 out of 5 stars)
June 3, 2016

Cover of the ax portion is cheaply made and moves around when locked to the ax. When using the hammer portion to hammer in small tent stakes it broke off. Overall very unhappy with the product. Good idea but very poorly made.

Ok axe terrible mallet and Wtf is steak puller?
by Troy Leonard (3 out of 5 stars)

Ok so I ordered this for camping. I wanted something light for wood duties at the campground. The axe is good for felling saplings and the saw makes short work of limbs. The metal puller is in the way and useless. On to my gripe, the back of the axe in intended to be used for driving tent steaks. It does a pitiful job. Now I use aluminum steaks, the hard plastic on the mallet started coming apart after a few swings. Maybe it's my fault I thought it would be hardened rubber not cheap plastic. If you want an axe and saw fine buy this but be warned about the build quality of the mallet.

and I thought the hammer was cool. The saw
by Brad (5 out of 5 stars)

I bought this and it was delivered the day before I left for a camping trip.

The axe works well.

The hammer side was used a couple of times, and I thought the hammer was cool.

The saw.. I ended up buying this hatchet over another well named brand specifically for the saw feature. That thing is the coolest! I didn't realize how useful that saw would be. I am very impressed with that feature, and it comes with 2 saw blades.

Feel free to ask me how it's going a year down the road.

Good Tool Fails in Winter Camping Conditions
by Keener (3 out of 5 stars)
February 21, 2015

We used this on a winter camping trip in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA), during one of the coldest weekends of the year in Northern Minnesota. The design is intriguing, and I purchased the item because I liked the idea of having a hatchet and saw combination. However, there are a couple of realities in winter camping that render these nifty engineering ideas useless:
1) It's cold up there. Really cold. We hit -32 (f). The orange plastic cover doesn't do well in that environment.
2) It's cold up there. Really cold. Trying to unscrew and screw the plastic cover knob with or without mittens is nearly impossible.

I realize that I've tried this product in extreme conditions, and perhaps that means I have given it an unfair rating. I can see using this for summer camping. When I was actually able to use the tool, the hatchet seemed to work pretty well, as did the saw itself. We were working with dry and frozen wood, and were able to break things down effectively.

For winter camping, however, I think that I'll be going with a cheaper option, where the axe and saw are two separate pieces.

Amazing
by Codisamus (5 out of 5 stars)
December 10, 2016

I went camping in used every possible way you can use this Hatchet. It's sturdy and works amazing. One of the best multi use camping tools I've ever had. From the saw, to the stake puller, Hatchet, and Hammer this thing is amazing in quality. It rattles a little bit when you use the hatchet because of the blades for the shopping in the Channel inside the stock. But the quality is out of this world. This is a great Buy

Never unprepared
by mba1 (4 out of 5 stars)

When backpacking finding firewood is all about scavenging for what's available. Whether you find fallen branches that can quickly be chopped up, or a larger section of deadfall that needs to be sawn up before you can split it, this tool is ready for the challenge.

I do have concerns about the durability of the rubber that's on the blade cover/ handle it just feels like it will wear away quickly which will likely require a glove when sawing.
