Great wireless Qi charger.
by Brian Ireland (5 out of 5 stars)
June 13, 2016

This charging was easy to set up (it is simply plug and play) and has performed perfectly. Once installed I placed my phone without case on the charging mat and it connected almost immediately. Next I installed the inner rubberized portion of my incipio case on the phone and placed it on the charger, again it started charging almost immediately. Finally I placed the hard outer shell of the phone case and put it on the charger. In all instances my phone connects almost immediately and begins charging. I like the red/blue indicator light. The light is red when idle and turns blue when you place the phone on it and charging begins. I knew that wireless charging was slower than traditional cable charging and I was concerned that the charge cycle would be excessively long. I was happy to find out that though longer, it is not excessively long. I went with the wireless charging to avoid too often connecting/disconnecting my phone when at work. This has been a great option and I have enjoyed the ease of charging my phone. I was also concerned about comments of overheating. I have watched this closely as I do not want to damage my phone, but have not found any overheating issues. The phone does get warmer, but I would call it warm not hot. I am using the USB hub on my Dell monitor at work and am not sure of the output voltage or current. I am assuming that it runs 5V and 2A because charging time seems to be only about 125% as compared to charging directly with the same cord in the same USB hub. I have not used the charging cord or outlet included as I already had a cord attached and it has worked well. Overall I have no complaints.

Works great on iPhone X!
by Brian S. Moynihan (5 out of 5 stars)
December 7, 2017

Works great for my iPhone X. There are some reviews that state it does not work for this phone and note you need to use an iPhone charging block or one that has the same level of power output. The unit comes with a microUSB - USB cord which I plugged into some old charging block I found in our junk drawer. I was frustrated that my phone was not charging though the charging light would come on and my phone would indicate charging. I immediately contacted the seller before leaving negative feedback. They asked me to check the charging block and I swapped it out with an actual iPhone charging block and it works great. Long winded, but thought maybe this could help others. Long story short, great value and works great-buy it but make sure you feed it enough power!

Cha cha charger!!
by KathleenHemrich (5 out of 5 stars)
September 21, 2016

So far so good, I got this tonight and my Samsung Galaxy S6 was 100% charged by my other remote charger (the circular one below) (I bought this one because I want a second one). My other remote is the circular kind that is not a fast charger but I got for free when I purchased this phone. About 2 months ago, my Samsung Galaxy S 6 STOPPED charging via it's port (that little thing that you insert your cord into) and I was like WTH? I took it an AT&T store since it was under 1 year old (bought it in Jan. 2016). The customer service rep at the AT&T in Austin, TX was awesome! Although, he initially said that one of the prongs(?) was bent back on my port/phone and that if so, It would be responsible (and get NO new phone!!). So, he then double checked and as luck (or faith) would have it, he determined that there was NO bent back prong (when he put his nifty blower? of sorts into it) and that it was a malfunction of the phone.

So?

I got a NEW Samsung Galaxy 6 - but the rep advised me to NOT use the regular port (where you INSERT it into the prong part) but rather to continue to use the wireless since (although slower) because it was less damaging to the phone (Okay I'm IN).

So, I ordered this one, NOT because it's a fast charger but bc it's $16 and I don't need my phone charged in UNDER 2 hours (I also don't let my phone EVER get less than %75 (I'm a bit OCD :-))

So, at 7:45 PM tonight, I put my phone at %80 charged on the this little guy and it was fully charged in 15 minutes (good enough for me), keep in mind it's NOT a fast charger but then again, is it really worth it to spend $50 on a fast charger? Will it last who knows?

Another thing I like about this charger is that it "fits" my phone like that old song by Depeche Mode "Hand in Glove..." aka perfectly. I think I will leave this one at home because it's so SMOOTH looking and take my other one as shown below (the circular one with the red cord, originally just meant to charge my phone in the car..but ended up the only cord that worked UNTIL I got a replacement.)

I will, update this review IF the charger proves to be ephemeral..but so far? It's awesome!!

Great for a nightstand or phone with a not so snug USB port
by Kyle B. (5 out of 5 stars)
July 18, 2016

This charger is super useful for me. Over time my nexus 6 hasn't been able to keep a USB in it very well. If I slightly bumped the cable or the table my phone was charging on, the charger would fall out. This mat is a very reasonable price and works very well. This doesn't quick charge but that is fine, I use this overnight usually. It is nice to be able to grab your phone off of this real quick in bed to check something and then place it right back on to charger, no more fiddling with correctly orienting the USB cable in your phone. Another plus is that the mat is powered by a micro USB so if you ever just want to charge with a cable instead, you can just use the one attached. When the mat is powered it has a little red LED, when you correctly place your phone on it for charging it will turn blue, when your phone is finished charging it will turn green.

Wireless charging on a budget.
by Lower (4 out of 5 stars)
December 19, 2018

The wireless charging on this device seems to work fine, just as one would expect. However, on my phone (LG G6), you cannot power the phone off and then wirelessly charge the phone, as setting it on the charge pad, turns the phone back on. Had I researched this and learned this would happen I would not have even bought this item, as I wanted to use it to make sure I got a decent charge every night without worrying about the cord getting unplugged or the phone not charging. But I power my phone off for the night when I go to bed so having this charging pad turn my phone back on is a deal breaker. Sure I could opt to mute my phone, but that's not my current pattern, so I'm back to just plugging in at night - which renders this device worthless for my application.

No fault of the item or the manufacturer both of which seem to be decent enough.

Works great with my Galaxy S6 even inside the thick protrctive case
by M. P. Mac Runnel (5 out of 5 stars)

** Update **

After eight months, these still work so well that I bought another to put in my Nissan Leaf (the Leaf has a USB port) so I can keep my phone charged while on the road. Between my phone and the case it stays put when driving. They have changed the design in one way now the charging light is blue (I dislike blue LEDs but it is nothing worth changing the five star review for)
** Original Review **

Right out of the box, this worked great for my Galaxy S6 inside a Tech21 protective case. The case is about 1/8 - 1/4 of an inch thick. It worked so well my wife wanted me to buy one for her. They work really well and charge at about 75 percent of the speed of direct USB.

Charges Moto360. Outstanding value with included USB A/C adapter.
by Persnickety Geek (5 out of 5 stars)
September 28, 2014

Note: included charger is rated at 5v 1.5A output.

Works great with a Nexus 5 on my desk at work! Love the soft touch exterior of the charger; is just like the outer surface of the black Nexus 5. While charging a Nexus 5, verified that the current from the included charger and cable to the Qi pad was 1.1A. Manual states there will be an approximate 75% power loss due to the Qi standard.

Moto360 watch was also easy to charge on this Qi pad. Seemed to charge just as fast as the OEM Motorola one.

Also tested it for a Nexus 7 (2013) and while it charged, the N7 had to be perfectly centered on the Qi pad to charge at full current (tested with a USB based current measurement tool to find the narrow sweet spot for placement). Centering is a challenge as this Qi pad is just slightly larger than a Nexus 5. Not ideal for tablet charging.

The Red/Green charge indicator light is PERFECT, especially for use at home as it's just bright enough to use in the office, but dim and small enough to be unobtrusive by the bedside.

Overall, I'm very pleased with using this device in the office to top off my cell phone and a Moto360.

Slow charge..
by Rex Richerson (1 out of 5 stars)
November 9, 2017

I received the product yesterday, so I've only used it a few times. It does not charge as fast as a regular charger. I actually left my phone on it to charge over night and didn't have a full charge this morning. It's also very sensitive. Your phone has to be in a specific spot for it to charge at all.

Green Light: Go
by Ruth H. Williams (5 out of 5 stars)

This TechMatte Wireless Phone Charger is terrific, and I am so glad I found it. I didn't even know there was such a thing as charging a phone without its being plugged in, but this product has made me a convert.

My phone wasn't holding a charge, and it was something of a mystery. The battery is fine; the problem turned out to be the part where the USB plugs into my phone. I believe this happened because the case I'd bought was so thick that it made it hard to insert the plug, so I had to jiggle around the flap on the case to get the plug into the phone. This is somewhat ironic, as I bought the heavy case to protect the phone in case I dropped it, and it may have indirectly damaged it.

When I first plugged in this charger, I noticed there was a red light indicating that the charger was working. I laid my phone on top of it, but was puzzled to find that it didn't start charging. I realized it was because I still had that giant case on my phone. It was too thick for the charger to work. Once I took off the thick phone case, the charger worked just fine, and the red light on it turned to a blue color. It also makes a beeping noise to indicate charging has begun. Once my phone was fully charged, the light on the charger turned green. This means your phone is good to go, charged to 100%.

I bought a thinner case recently, and with that case on, the phone charges easily. Please note that thicker cases will not allow this charger to work. You have to take thick cases off before your phone can charge.

This is a great product, and I highly recommend it.

Comparison of this Charger and the Samsung Fast Charge Wireless Charging Pad
by ScienceGal (5 out of 5 stars)
October 29, 2016

This is a great charger at a great price. I use this with my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. I own both this charger and the round Samsung fast charge wireless charging pad. I prefer this charger. Here is my comparison:

TechMatte

The Techmatte wireless charger is a workhorse utilitarian charger that gets the job done for a decent price. The Techmatte charger has an unobtrusive power light. It is a black subtle rectangular shape with a black power cord that blends in on a nightstand or desk. It is easy to correctly position the phone on the charging pad. It is a reliable but not a particularly fast charger. You can buy more than four of these for the price of one of the Samsung fast charge charging pad. I now have several of these since my husband took possession of my original charger and wouldn't give it back. I have an Otterbox case on my phone and the charger works with the phone left in its case.

Samsung Fast Charge Charging Pad

The Samsung Fast Charge charging pad is a stylish but flawed charger. It has an intense blue charging light that lights up the entire room brighter than a nightlight when the phone is in place at night. I had to cover it up at home to prevent it disrupting my sleep. For this reason alone, I have relegated this charger to my travel charger since I can hook the phone up in a hotel bathroom and shut the door hiding the light from the bed. It has an aesthetically pleasing round sleek black shape that is ruined by the appearance of its large bulky white power cable. It is tricky to position the phone correctly on the charging pad. If the phone is not positioned exactly right, the phone stops charging before charging is complete which negates its ability to charge more quickly. About twenty percent of the time when the charging pad is used, it stops charging before it is fully charged. Although this is advertised as a quick charge charger, when using the pad, the phone does not charge that much quicker than the TechMatte charger. The phone does charge fairly quickly when plugged directly into the ugly white power cord. I assume that it is the cord that gives this charger's it's fast charge properties but I don't understand why they can't make the cord the same color as the charging pad. This charger also charges the phone through an Otterbox case.
