The inner lining that keeps it waterproof completely came off!

VERY VERY BAD MATERIAL.

Used this bag for about 2 weeks and the inner lining is falling apart. Have only put clothing when I went on a trip. Would like to get my money back.

Quality is very bad for the price I paid.

Not the product shown in Pictures
by ZZZReview (1 out of 5 stars)

I have one of these that I purchased in 2014. I have used the one that I have a lot. It has held up well and I like it. I purchased this as a birthday gift for a friend who really likes the one that I have. When I opened the box, I knew right away that this was not the same one that I have or the one shown in the pictures. The cloth is different. The straps are not even close to the quality of the one that I have already. The individual pockets are very shoddy and don't have the same clips for closure. One dead giveaways is that it has an EXPLORER logo on the top flap on the back bottom bag. What a disappointment. Of all the purchases that I have made from Amazon, this one is the one that makes me say, "If I had gone to a store to purchase this, I would have left it on the shelf." Totally different quality! I am returning it and going somewhere to find another gift for my friend's birthday which id next Tuesday. The pictures for this item need to be replaced and this should be called the Explorer Generation II bag so there is no mistaking that this is not the same bag. I wonder how many of these cheap imitations there are out there. If I was paying $19.95 for this, I wouldn't expect a whole lot and wouldn't be as disappointed. DON'T BUY THIS !!!!

Not as happy now

So after posting my first review, I took the backpack out on a hike. I didn't make it 200 yards And my shoulders were already fatigued, I figured it was just me being a little out of shape and kept going. The weight sits too far back between your shoulder blades and not high on your shoulders causing it to pull your shoulders back. I really want to like this pack because of all the storage. I'm not sure if it can be modified there's not enough Molly webbing to attach other straps. I will try to repack and see if that helps.

Already Deteriorating?! Don't Buy.

I've only had the pack about a month, and the interior vinyl coating has deteriorated into a million little "flecks" that get all over everything. Several of the zippers pockets won't stay zipped on their own, through transit and jostling pouches have opened and items were lost. The layout of the pack is awesome, but the quality of construction is as poor as it gets. The worst part is its been over 30 days and I can't return this piece of crap.

Don't buy, spend the same money on something better, something mil-spec.

Good Idea, Poor Execution
by Alte Soldat (2 out of 5 stars)

The good: Lots of compartmentalized storage, seams are well done, well sized.

The bad: the item page shows a handgun being placed in the waistbelt pouch which initially looks like a great way to carry when out hiking. Those pouches wrap around your kidney area, so good luck getting to your firearm without dropping your pack or becoming a twister expert. Secondly, those side pouches on the belt are not movable and need to CURVE around your kidney area. You do NOT want to try and carry something hard and non flexible digging into your kidneys all day.
This thing is sizable, and lacking any sort of rigid support, will lead to a sagging pack that is very difficult to get to ride comfortably. I can't imagine doing a multiday hike like I often do here in FL with a sagging shifting load riding on me. Returned it after loading it and walking around the house for a few minutes. This just won't work for my purposes.

An unobtrusive internal frame system like what's on a BFM and movable belt pouches would make this well worth the money. As is, it's a no go at this station.

Big, strong, durable, versatile, wow this backpack is perfect for nearly any situation.

Very large, very versatile backpack!

I purchased this to be used as a foot of the bed/take camping emergency/shtf bag!

Has many pockets that are nearly every size you want, and you may not end up filling them all!!

I'm a skinny guy, I weigh 111ish pounds strong but skinny. I have yet to weigh it but I would say it is roughly 35-40 pounds when I take my Molle attachments in to account!

The straps are in perfect locations for nearly every size person when you adjust them accordingly. The "gun compartments" are perfect for any smaller size hand gun or any quick grab items like a filter straw, compass, use your imagination, experiment, engineer!

Al the zipper function, and I saw no initial defects, even as I loaded stuff in, I get little resistance but can still fee how durable the backpack is. And the handle on top feels very tough and latched on strong!

I'm looking forward to a full tea world situation to play with it.. Come on June!!!

Must add this is for adults or much larger kids!

More pictures to come!

I love the set up of this bag and a lot ...
by MJ (2 out of 5 stars)

I love the set up of this bag and a lot of its concept. However, time was not put in on testing. Soon as it was out the door a zipper grab broke off. 100 meters in on the first op the lining to the inside near the zipper split. The snaps are just to small to manipulate with gloves. I love the location and amount of pockets and storage set-up. I agree the weight when loaded is disturbing poorly as to how it rides. I think this is due to the pads on the hips for your weapon. Love this idea but the waist belt needs to be whole and should extend around the lower back for padding. Also you won't be accessing your pistol with any type of speed unless the system is adjusted. This would be my go to pack if the quality was military grade, which is the lowest bidder and still stronger. Look elsewhere for now till the company gets a better quality build. For more information and reviews look us up. Where just two guys defending the world and trying all the gear we can till it works. Always looking for more brothers to hump it with us and real world work this equipment. Be safe. I would have love five stars on this or even three but it's a two at best for now. Pocket seem tearing is a total failure in our book due to possible lose of essential gear due to pack failure. Stars are for concept and design. The US ruck is in one photo, zero issues just no upgrade.

OK

Decent bag. My biggest complaint is that the front pouches on the waist band where it shows guns being stored are a joke. Unless you plan to walk around with your guns sticking out like in the picture they are way too small. I tried a Glock 43 which is tiny and it barely fit and would take at least 5-10 seconds to unzip and properly grab. These is no way you would fit a full size pistol. You have to have it positioned just perfect and the zipper does not open far enough for easy access. These is a reason people have their guns in holsters attached to the molle on the front of these patches in every picture.

Huh, good and bad.

Okay, this bag is in fact big enough. It has enough divided compartments to keep your stuff right where you can get at it. Yes, you could, in theory fit a full size handgun into the kidney belt pads. You wouldn't want to though, those need to curve to fit your body.
Pros.
Big enough for a three day LRP. Like, really actually big enough.
Lots of divided pockets. Keep your kit orderly.
Good structural integrity, good manufacture. After 30 days of banging around in my truck, being shouldered by one strap and generally maligned, I see no points of failure.
Top load straps to secure large loads makes sense for this bag, as it helps keep the center of gravity high.
Cons.
No frame. This bag is just on the upside of too big to go without any structure. The bottom sags a bit too much because it has no structure, and it is a comfort and maneuverability problem. After three or four days hiking this bag around, you would be ready to chuck it over a cliff.
No cinch straps. Yes, this bag is big, and if you underload, you have NO way to tighten it to your body, it all just hangs over your butt. This sucks huge. Like really sucks. Uncomfortable after 3 miles. Probably debilitating after 50.
As a bag of last resort, this has a lot going for it. It is excellent for that, actually. If I had time, I would load this thing out, though.
