Just saying $ 400 and all of sudden the hair dyer stopped..i reset plug, always clean filter but just stopped. It is a major problem to return...i was told just to toss it! I say that is throwing $400 down the drain!

Life of the Dryer
by Amazon Customer (1 out of 5 stars)

I bought this May 13th and on December 29th the motor burned out. I would think a $400 hair dryer would last longer than 6 months. :<(

Worst customer service; cheaply made
by Melissa Rosengard (1 out of 5 stars)
January 9, 2019

This product is not well made for the price and the company doesn't practice good customer service by any stretch. Pieces of plastic, including the filter on the handle, have literally crumbled they are so cheap. I purchased my dryer from Amazon in May 2018, and by December bits were breaking off. I emailed the company just to get a replacement filter, so the thing didn't look so janky, and after 9 emails over a 10 span, I gave up. It was a classic runaround of communication where they asked me for some information, which I supplied, and then they would respond with new information or photos they needed. One of their requests was for the serial number on the cord - there's a number on the cord, so I sent them the number and a picture. But they responded that the serial number they need is actually on the tag on the cord, or in the owner's manual. I had to advise them that a clientele that is going to purchase a $400 blowdryer branded by it's aesthetic qualities, probably isn't going to keep the ugly tag hanging off the cord. And call me silly, but a hard copy owner's manual for a blowdryer isn't paper I'm apt to clutter up my house. So after nine back and forths where I even sent them the part # and link to the blowdryer I purchased, I decided to call it quits -- my time is too valuable. I'll live with this blowdryer until it dies completely - now it's just an expensive artifact and mistake I won't make again. Nor am I likely to purchase Dyson again, despite the fact I've purchased two vacuums and an Air purifier. I just can't stand bad customer service. As for the broken blowdryer - It's amazing how many uses there are for Duct Tape - it's covering up the broken plastic bits and adds a little DIY grunge look.

Miracle Product
by Lisa Murakami (5 out of 5 stars)

I was a little skeptical that one hair dryer could make a big difference over any other, but this product has proved me wrong. I was using a Babyliss when I got this, and I am (no pun intended) blown away. It takes a little getting used to because it does NOT get as hot as the other dryers. It has sensors that change the heat to optimize it for your level of wetness and it turns out that Dyson doesn't think we need all the heat that we think we need - and they're right! When I use this dryer with NO attachments, it takes the same dry time (maybe a little less) as other dryers but with less heat, and either the less heat or something about how it blows makes me look like I got a professional blowout after a cut. My hair lays much more smoothy and has so much more movement and less weight. I'll put a pic to to show what I mean. Is it worth $400? Maybe. I do think it will last forever and that it makes a daily difference for me, since I use it daily. If you you have a different hair type or you don't often dry, it might not be worth the investment for you. THAT said, it is nice not to be all sweaty after I dry my hair!

Hair Dryer quickly failed after purchase.
by JLM (1 out of 5 stars)

Product stopped working after only using it a couple of weeks. Dyson said they would replace it with a new dryer as soon as mine was shipped back. It's been two almost weeks and I still don't have replacement. Everytime I speak with Dyson they say they found an error and it's been fixed and should ship soon. Very poor warranty process. I would not recommend Dyson.

What's happened to Dyson???
by D. Rasor (1 out of 5 stars)

Never thought I'd spring for a $400 hair dryer but my wife's hair stylist uses one and swears by it. I ordered her the Supersonic as a gift. She received it today and it was DOA! I called Dyson's support line and they said "that happens all the time...just send it back and get another one". So glad I bought it on Amazon so returning was a breeze...but I got a refund vs. replacement. Dyson quality isn't all it's cracked up to be!

Watch the howto videos, this is a great, faster, super quiet, product
by Jeff the aeroE,Top Contributor: Cooking (5 out of 5 stars)

I'm not sure why people have been bashing this hair dryer, but when I read the negative reviews it almost seemed like they hadn't actually tried using it?

This is a great hair dryer, that's different then what you're used to so you'll need a week to adjust. Make sure you watch the styling videos because this is a stronger machine than you're used to with a different balance.
+It is measurably stronger than other hairdryers on the market.
+It self monitors the temperature at the exit point so that your hair wont be damaged from holding it to close.
+It's much easier to hold given how it's weighted in the handle (the force you feel is weight multiplied by perpendicular distance, which has been dramatically reduced.
+It's MUCH faster at drying hair. That said you can't just top it on it's fastest hottest setting. After you do the bulk of your drying at the top speed turn it down and finish it off.
+The attachments go on magnetically, which is very easy and again very fast.
+The attachments (per the support videos) make it much easier to finish blow drying your hair and not needing to style it.
+ Because of it's unique design of air intake, it forgoes the traditional L design for a I design and fits into narrow drawers.
+++ My wife has had "Nothing but good hair days since we switched and I got used to it"
+++++++ My wife gets ready in much less time than she used to. It's "30-50% faster" saving about 5 minutes a day.
++++++++++++ My wife doesn't wake me up in the master bathroom because this hair dryer is so QUIET. The other one sounded like a dying helicopter. You can have conversations while it's running, it's just not as convenient as when it's not running.

I read a lot of cons that I disagree with on another post so I'm going to say why they aren't that bad.
-The cord is too thick
--I don't know why you'd think it would be unless you were holding it wrong which it seems like a lot of people the post negative reviews are. I've never had a problem with it and my wife never thought about it.
-The air intake is at the bottom and I keep grabbing it.
-- This is done on purpose for how it's weighted, most comfortable, and easiest to maneuver. If you're making this mistake adjust it when you feel the air blowing on your hand, it's quite easy to notice and fix You'll get used to it in a week.
-Your hair comes out dry like straw
--It shouldn't** My wife has very baby fine hair and it comes out nicer with this hair dryer. That said, this is a very powerful hairdryer and using it on the highest setting until your hair is dry will dry your hair out more than weaker hair dryers on their respective highest setting. Watch the videos their quite helpful, or just turn the setting down after the bulk of the drying is done.
-It's weighty and uncomfortable
--Per the above comments you're not holding it at the handle. The product went through multiple engineering phases you can watch a video on to minimize the strain on your arms and it's very easy and comfortable to use especially compared to other hair dryers where all the weight is above the handle so you have to fight it as you maneuver it.
-No way to hang it on a hook
-- If you're set on doing so then this is a con. You can pop a plug under your sink and keep it in a drawer always plugged in and out of sight which seems to be more desirable for me.
-No way to put it in a drawer
-- This is just not true, I have a 6.5 in drawer that doesn't fit traditional hair dryers because it's too small, but it fits this one and a few brushes easily. Most hair dryers are in the shape of a capital L, this is in the shape of an I so it just fits better. The wire isn't a problem, we have a drawer that is only 6.5 in wide and this is the only hair dryer that fits in this drawer.
-It's too expensive
-- For the benefits of size, speed, noise, quality of hair, ease of use, it's worth it for us though this is a personal decision and no matter how nice a hair dryer is there are much cheaper options out there.

Well worth the money!

I am so glad I bought this. This hair dryer truly does what it says its going to do. It dries my very thick, very frizzy, very wavy hair, but if I use the right brush along with good styling products, I get the perfect blowout with this hair dryer. I love that it is very quiet and I don't feel like I'm "frying" my hair. I love the many different settings and once you get used to the feel of the hair dryer, it is very comfortable and doesn't cause my arm to hurt from having to hold it.

I never thought such an expensive appliance would break down after six months
by Catalina Crane (1 out of 5 stars)
April 2, 2019

I bought this hairdryer after much thought and research to find if it was worth the 4 or 5 times more that it costs compared to other hairdryer. I concluded it was a worthwhile investment as drying my hair is something I do a lot. After around six months use (not very frequently) one day it just stopped dead. I tried all the troubleshooting things I read and that the Dyson customer support told me to do. Nothing worked. They finally told me I had to return it for service or replacement.

Some words about how it worked when it did work: it is much more silent, something especially my husband enjoyed. It is light... other than that it works just the same as any other hairdryer.

When I called Dyson again to know how to return it, they asked the same questions again...then they said that since I had used it outside the USA (I travel and live abroad part of the year) the guarantee was void because the device was made as certified only for for the US. I made it very clear that I had only used it in places where the voltage is exactly the same as in the US. They said they would make an exception and that I could send it in... but they needed the invoice. I sent the invoice that fortunately Amazon keeps in my account records. They answered saying that is was not sold by an authorized seller and thus the guarantee was void and they could not service it or exchange it. I was appalled to find out that something that I bought through Amazon did not come from an authorized seller.
