High Price/Very Poor Quality!

I've had this pot for only three months and there are already tiny rusted pits on the bottom inside, which means the aluminum is leaching out and into the food.

LOVE Farberware! EXCELLENT quality!

You will never regret buying Farberware cookware. I have used the Classic Series cookware since the 70s. When my children needed pots and pans I gave them my older set and purchased a new set for me! These pieces are so easy to keep clean. Just polish with BonAmi or a stainless steel powder and they will always look new. The lid design is wonderful for keeping steam inside the pot. I use the 8 quart size for soups, steaming vegetables, boiling pasta, making candy, cooking jams, etc. The aluminum bottoms are stainless steel clad and provide very even cooking. Things don't burn easily because of the thick bottom. You will not be disappointed!

Beware NOT 18/10 Stainless Steel!!!
by Carol Abney (1 out of 5 stars)
October 24, 2018

I bought this because it was listed as 18/10 Stainless steel at a good price. But when I received the item the "18/10" was nowhere to be found. I looked on the bottom of the pot and all over the packaging. Nothing. So I called Farberware and they told me this 11 quart stock pot is in fact 18/0 not 18/10. From what I've researched online stainless steel that is not at least 18/8 or 18/10 (which indicated the percentage of mixture with other metals) will rust more easily. I'm assuming the 18/0 is cheaper to make and thus accounts for the very low price on this item. I am sending it back without using it because this was advertised incorrectly. My one star here is only because this was falsely advertised!!!

I love these pots

Hi, I love these pots, they are the best. I had a set since the late 70's and they are still in superb condition. I gave away the first set I bought, then I purchased a second set and gave away my 8quart many years ago, so I decided to replace it. I also bought sets for my mother and my sisters. Out of all the pots on the market, these are definitely the best. Burn them? No problem, just soak in warm water with a little dishwashing liquid and in no time they are as good as new. Love them. Thank you, Greyci Lew

Unbelievable

I just threw away my pretty Rachel Ray red enamel stockpot after only 4 uses because it was chipping beyond belief. And there went 80 bucks out the door. When I saw this Farberware stainless steel pot for this amazing price here on Amazon I just had to pick this up and I am so so glad I did. Things usually stick to the bottom of my stainless pots but because this has an extra layer on the bottom its as if its non-stick coated on the inside which it is not. I will now start purchasing this Classic Series in all the sizes I need and get rid of all the expensive junk I own. I just love this Classic Series

Affordable Quality!

I have been wanting a QUALITY stockpot for quite some time. I have a large family and we like to make hearty servings of our meals so there is plenty to go around. This pot is perfect for that. I have used it for everything from making large pots of soup when we all had the flu to making huge pots of mac and cheese for the holidays. All I can say is, does the job well and I have no complaints. It heats VERY evenly and the pot actually stays hot for a very long time after removing it from heat. I have literally walked away and come back for another serving four hours later to find I do not even need to rewarm the food. The top fits the pot perfect and I have not had any issues with it like some others have. Its also been dropped on the hard tile a few times as I tend to be clumsy on occasion. Not so much as a scorch mark on the bottom after all my uses. If you cannot afford the high end stuff, definitely give this one a shot.

Excellent stock pot

The best, and at a very fair price. We bought one of the sets when we moved to Florida. Our old Revere set had turned to junk, so we needed a replacement. Will never buy Revereware again. It's not your mom's Revere-ware for sure. The copper on the bottom used to turn green and stain everything, the little black cap on the lids all came off over time. I was looking for a stainless steel set to replace our other set, and thought we'd take a chance on Farberware. This stuff is great quality, sturdy, well built and a joy to cook with. Very even cooking when making stews, chili, etc, and nothing sticks even though it's still just stainless steel and not non stick. Our set had the 4 qt and the 8 quart pots, but not the 6 quart, and many times I needed a bit more room in the pot. This works great and is large enough. At the price for the box set, go with the stainless steel, it's better for you healthwise than non stick and they work great. Highly recommend Farberware Stainless Steel.

At this price range, there is no better choice..

Excellent pot for the price. Metal is a good quality stainless. I've used it to boil water, as well as make soups, and it's a great pot. The metal is slightly thinner than the older farberware ( Made in USA ) models, and this is not made in the USA. However, it is a solid pot which has a thicker bottom for heat dissipation. This is not an expensive pot and would not compare with pots costing many times more. But for this price range, I don't think there is a better choice.

Not Durable and Doesn't Heat well.
by Judith H. (1 out of 5 stars)

Takes 40 minutes to boil water. In my Bialetti pot it only takes 15-20 minutes for a full boil

Bought 4 years ago...falling apart. Notches on sides to lock the lid fell off (while I was straining the pasta).

Hot water and pasta all over my sink.

Stick with a 4 gauge pot (this is not considering how it doesn't hold the heat.

LIKE THIS PASTA POT A LOT
by Daniel (4 out of 5 stars)
April 11, 2016

Like this pasta pot a lot. Much easier to handle than the type with a strainer insert, and 1/3 less to wash and dry--Two pieces not three. Also requires much less water than the type with strainer basket; therefore heats up much faster. Looks to me like brown rice would not fall through the smaller size holes. Bottom showed small pit after use on my pic (precision induction cook top); may need use steel plate beneath it when on pic, or perhaps, a very small production defect. Would be 4-1/2 stars of such existed.

Awesome pasta pot and so much more!

What a great bargain on a wonderful top quality pasta pot! I do use it for cooking and draining our pasta, but we use is a couple of times a week to make popcorn! The heavy base prevents burning, and the drainage holes allow the steam to escape. (Steam makes the popcorn tough). I even use the pot for cooking sweet corn, other vegies, and even soup!

The first time cooking pasta in the pot and already there damage. Within a month, I will have to throw this one away and buy a new stockpot. It will definitely NOT be Farberware.

Works great!
by Wendy R (5 out of 5 stars)

This pot works great for cooking and straining. We haven't had any problems and it seems to be well made. It heats evenly on the glass cooktop.

You have to be very specific about putting the lid on and the pot itself is rather heavy, especially when it is filled with boiling water! Because of the tall top handle, it is not as easy to store as the pot I replaced. The lid will not invert into the pot for storage, so I have to work a little harder to get it into the cabinet. Storage issues aside, it appears to be a great pot. It was one of the few I could find that did not have a non-stick coating on it.

Best pasta pot I've ever owned!
by Brandon Sachs (5 out of 5 stars)

The lid locks and unlocks easily by twisting the top. It stays put when you pour the water out. It's stainless steel so there's no non-stick carcinogens, and it heats evenly cooking the pasta or soup or whatever nicely without burning it. If you've never used a locking pasta pot lid before, you won't know what you're missing, but once you get one, you won't want to go back.

The only real issue I can think of is that the handles heat up a lot and will probably burn you if you don't hold them with a good pot holder.

Great, well made pot

I bought this while working away from home, just so I could cook spaghetti noodles. This Farberware pot is intelligently designed and well constructed. This pot is nice and large, and lets me drain the boiling water while retaining the food without need for acrobatics on my part, or getting scalding injuries either. I could not ask for more, unless a free, professional chef!

Works Great!
by A. Gordon (5 out of 5 stars)

The lid rotates into a locked position that seems very secure. The base fits a standard large burner, and the handles say cool so you can pour it out over the sink. I was doing spaghetti and used the large holes. It worked, but the smaller holes might have been better. Use the large ones for elbow noodles and such.

This is SO much easier than using a colander. You just add the sauce (or cheese, or whatever) straight into the pot once you've drained it. And it's the right size to do an entire box of noodles with room to add the fixings without slopping bits out of the pot as you stir.

The only thing I'd change is to make the exterior non-chrome. It shows fingerprints and water spots too easily.

So much easier!

I purchased this because when we got our new inducttion stove, our older one didn't work on it. This works great on induction. I made a chili last night. Wonderful. But, best of all, when we do mashed potatoes and boil the potatoes or squash or anything you boild first...eggs, etc, you just dump the water into the sink and then mash the potatoes right in the pot. Also, draining pasta is great. I don't have to go rummaging through the pot and pan cabinet for the collinder or have to wash one. It's a great piece to have. Strong thick stainless, Sturdy top, twist to lock on, twist to lock off. Just take your time the first time you tip out the water into the sink so you learn how it comes out from either side and where the water goes when you are in the sink. First time, the water went onto the counter as I was too close to the edge of the sink when I tipped the water out. Just pay attention that's all. All in all, I would buy it again. So should you!

So far so good
by treehugger (4 out of 5 stars)
December 6, 2013

I bought this pot to replace a bargain store straining stockpot which fell apart after only a few uses. On my old stockpot the handles came loose and could not be re-tightened. The straining lid did not lock properly which resulted in my scalding myself a few times while straining pasta into the sink. The oblong shape was awkward to handle and the water took an eternity to come to a boil. After that experience I knew I needed a better pot, and I was attracted to this one because of its size and depth, stainless steel construction, and the Farberware reputation. So far I am very pleased with my new pot. It is just the right size for cooking a full pound of pasta without boiling over. The water boils in about half the time over my previous pot. The lid locks securely, though one must remember to twist it before tipping over the sink. The pot is also pretty to look at, with a very shiny surface and glossy black handles. I am waiting to see how the handles hold up over time before awarding the fifth star.
