Awesome buy!

This is amazing and for such a cheap price! I was worried it wouldn't work well or go very far so I bought 3 cans just incase. I was blown away by how well it worked, the good quality and how little we had to use. We turned a table into a chalk board for our child, we put multiple coats on (3+) and only used half the can, the table is great I am amazed at how well it turned out.

Only for OUTDOOR application. DO NOT USE INDOORS!!!!

It works really well as a chalkboard. BUT, it should only be used OUTSIDE. I was making a chalkboard directly onto their wall and after three separate coats (drying in between them) I had a soot-like coating on half of my house. A very fine, nearly unnoticeable mist had traveled through my kitchen/dining area and every surface and item had to be washed by hand as it stuck just enough to not just rinse off under water. Each and every one of the boy's toys had to be hand washed in the tub and some of the soot had reacted with a few plastic toys and would not come off. It was like a greasy residue. I had to use "Goof Off" solvent to remove most of it. I had to use a Swiffer on my kitchen floor twice and then wash it twice. It was awful. My suggestion: The paint makes a superior chalkboard compared to brush on paints, so buy a piece of masonite, spray it OUTDOORS, and then screw it into the wall or hang it indoors.

Nice effect

Worked great on my cabinets. Even through the wood grain. You can still see the wood grain, but it doesn't have any affect on the outcome. Looks just great. See my pics.

UPDATE: It might also interest you to know I have this on other cabinets where I keep lists like grocery. I add to it as I run out of items. I then take a picture of it and I'm off to the market. Easy no fuss way to make my grocery list and make it most effective.

I used this to spray a piece of sheet metal so that my son could have a chalkboard that he could also put his magnets on. The paint dries to look like a chalk board and does not scuff with magnets. I have used this on backerboard, metal, and concrete. Works great on all of them and makes creating a chalkboard extremely easy.

Great enamel based paint that goes on smoothly!
by QMegz (5 out of 5 stars)

The paint sprayed out smoothly and came out looking great! I used this to cover the flip side of a train table so I could make a lego table for my kiddo. I followed the instructions printed on the back of the can, which are very clear. I lightly sanded the boards as they have that smooth laminate coat on them. After letting them dry outside for 2 hours, I moved them inside to let them harden. This is an enamel based paint and it clearly says it needs 2 days to harden. Prior to this time frame, it was easy to scratch the paint off...now that it had it's proper drying time, it's as hard and indestructible as expected.

I do not plan on using chalk on these, so I can't comment on the writing ability.

I wanted a hard enamel based paint that will stand up to the kids playing with the table. I have no doubts this will do the trick!

The best chalkboard paint
by louisvillepropstylist (5 out of 5 stars)

I've used hundreds of cans of this for my business, and it never disappoints. Rustoleum is absolutely the only brand of spray paint I will use for anything, and I've tried them all. Just be aware that when you use this you're going to need to sand your surface first. I use 3m sanding blocks, starting with coarse, and then medium, fine, and most importantly extra fine. Depending on your surface you may also need to prime it to get it smooth. I use Rustoleum 2x coverage primer in gray. I think they make it in black now, but we don't find the results to be as smooth. You'll need at least 2 coats of the chalkboard spray paint to make your surface chalkboard-y enough. You'll also want to rub chalk over it before you use it to "condition," the chalkboard so that when you write on it it doesn't leave a permanent mark. I did this for a long time by rubbing the side of chalk on the surface like the directions say, but it would often scratch my brand new surface, so I've taken to covering a chalkboard eraser in chalk dust and then rubbing the eraser on my surface instead. Do wear a gas mask looking mask rather that a surgeon looking painting mask if you're going to be painting anywhere other than outside. You cannot undo the damage of inhaling the fine particles, and you'll be amazed out how black your nose will be after you remove your surgeon-looking painting mask.

This paint doesn't seem to cooperate with any sort of chalk. I first tried with chalk pens, and they stained my chalkboard. I blamed it on the the pens, repainted my board, and tried with normal chalk. It didn't stain quite as badly, but it still wrecked my chalkboard. Definitely won't be using this product again, and will find something else to use.

Does what it is supposed to do

Used these to create a multitude of signs for our wedding. The best part is that if you mess up with a chalk marker, it comes right off with a damp cloth! I would recommend using this spray paint and making your own signs to purchasing "chalk board" items from places like Hobby Lobby because those do not wipe clean.

You can turn any flat surface into a chalk board with this. The smoother the surface, the nicer this will work.

While this is a great price for the pack of six only three of the six cans work properly enough to where I could use them on a project. Three of the cans would drip very bad and the sprayer would get clogged constantly to where I haven't been able to use them.

Top Notch.

We ordered two of these for an in-home job that consisted of creating a 6-foot by 3-foot on-wall chalkboard. The job was quick and easy, dried fast, and seems to be just as functional as I imagined. I had plenty to cover the surface area of the board, but with the extra, just put on a light second coat and we now have an awesome chalkboard in our spare bedroom.
