Pretty good, Easily could be better.

Ok, the first thing you need to know is that the item advertised (at the time I write this) is the old model with the stainless steel attachments. That's what I wanted, but that is NOT what I received. The new model has plastic attachments.

Ordering. Easy from TigerChef. However, it took nearly a week for this to even ship. Free shipping for Amazon sold stuff, ships same or next day. Pay for shipping, it takes a week to ship?

Customer Service. As stated, I did not get the same item that was described. I contacted TigerChef, and they explained that these ship directly from Weston. One strike for Weston for shipping delay. Two strikes for sending a different item. Three strikes, it looked like it was packaged by a two-year-old who just figured out how to use tape. Wasn't even in a shipping box. Just wrapped with a piece of scrap cardboard. TigerChef refunded the shipping to compensate me. Great customer service from TigerChef.

Initial Impressions. The working part of the gun appears to be well made. The plastic attachments seem OK, but have some sharp/rough edges. So Weston? Save a buck by switching to plastic, then don't even make them high quality? The tube has a big "Weston" sticker on it. Good luck getting this off. It's in the dishwasher right now, we'll see. Here's an idea idiots, if you want it to say "Weston" imprint it into the plastic, or use a vinyl sticker.

Use: Overall, works well. As others have commented, the plunger fits tightly into the tube which means your going to have some trapped air. No way around it. This did not seem to impact making jerky, but might be a problem if filling casings. Poor design. Not quite air tight would work a lot better. Also, the plunger is shorter than the tube. What? So pushing down that first load and you have to struggle to get it back out (remember, it fits tight). When making jerky, you will leave a bit of meat in the attachments and at the end of the tube. It would be nice if they included something to push out that last 2" of jerky. The included cleaning brush works OK for this it you're making meat sticks.

Not what is described or shown in picture

This is not what was described or detailed in the picture. You do not get SS tips, they are clear plastic. They also do not include the funnel. I contacted the seller to be told the manufacture has changed the product. That was on 11-5 but they still have the same description and picture. I was allowed to return and get a refund but I will likely not order from this seller again.

Junior Jerky Gun
by RED (5 out of 5 stars)

This is a very handy tool for making your own jerky, it certainly speeds up the process and makes things a little less messy!

The only gripe I have with it is it doesn't push the very last bit of meat out. Instead, you're stuck with a golf ball size of meat that you can either attempt to push through the attachment without the gun (there's a tool you can try to use), or shape with your hands. Another small issue which I found a way to work around is I noticed it doesn't quite allow you to cut off the end of the strip. I mean it does, but it's not 100% and often times the meat strip would drag across the surface of my dehydrator tray in the process and cause it to break apart. Luckily I came up with an easy, painless solution for this one: I use the edge of the fork that was used earlier in the mixing process (minimizes dishes to wash) to give it a solid break. I actually think this method is quicker than trying to cut it with the tip!

It's very easy to clean, which is a good selling point, and even came with two brushes to make your life a little easier. Also, the trigger motion is pretty easy on the hands and doesn't require too much pull strain.

This in no way affected my rating, but I wish there was a slightly thinner and wider attachment to make 1" wide strips, rather than the larger one that makes 2 separate 1/2" strips at once. I guess I'll have to revert to the rolling pin method for that!

Great product

I just got the jerky gun and have only used it once, but after trying other cheap guns, this one is proving to be of great quality. It is easy to assemble, easy to load and the trigger is very smooth. Once you learn how fast the meat comes out, you can adapt and make very nice jerky strips. (That only took one row before I figured out the speed of movement needed). It is easy to refill, although it does not quite hold 1 lb of meat, but is very easy to refill and continue making strips. Also it is easy to disassemble and clean. No problems at all. If I do have issues with it after several uses, I will give an update.

SUPERB!

This is a truly awesome kit. It is quite a bit larger than I expected it to be, considering it is called Jr. This holds a large amount of meat. The process is easier than with less expensive models. I do 3 pound batches of jerky, and with my old gun, My arm ached from so much handle squeezing. This is NOT the case with this gun. The trigger pulls easily and it dispenses the meat great. This takes about half the time it did with my previous "cheapo" gun. I LOVE that it comes with cleaning brushes. Cleaning the old one was rough, But these brushes make it easy. Overall a GREAT kit for making jerky at home and saving a TON of money over buying it.

Bad ass Jerky Gun!

This is great, beats the hell out of cutting and cutting and cutting steaks in hope for perfect jerky slices. Cleaning is a bit tough but go figure; they do give you a few brushes which is very helpful. Overall has a strong construction and several nozels for shapes of your choice. A must have for anyone making home made jerky!

Weston Original Jerky Gun Jr.
by TPaine (5 out of 5 stars)

This jerky gun is VERY easy to use. I thought it would be tough to squeeze but it's VERY easy. I had an entire pound of ground meat sticks in just a couple of minutes. I recommend this if you are in the market for a jerky gun. It says Jr. but it is big and it holds one pound of meat. This jerky gun makes the process so much faster.

This jerky gun works great...I have used it about 5 times since I purchased it and also loaned it out to a friend..I would of giving it 5 stars but you really have to figure certain things out by yourself...Trial and error..A better instruction booklet would really help..Not that this is very complicated but just some little hints on useage would of been a big help..

This jerky gun is great. We made deer jerky the next day and it made it soooo easy. Clean up was was a snap, just take apart and place in top of dishwasher. I would advise NOT to put gun in just the parts because it holds water and you won't want it to rust.

I bought this as a Christmas present for our son-in-law and he loves it. Used it already and works well.Only complaint he had was that there was a big plug of meat after processing the jerky through the gun where the plunger meets the tip. Next time he will smash that down a bit and try dehydrating that as well.
