Gets the job done
by Edward Martinez (5 out of 5 stars)

Purchased some 6+ months ago.

Washed this thoroughly with boiling water once it arrived and never had any problems with a metallic taste. Followed the same procedure immediately any time after using it and allowed it to air dry. Have only put hard liquor in this, haven't tried anything sugary, so can't comment on how it holds up there.

Great investment.

Stanley uses a sticker...
by Fishynot (3 out of 5 stars)

2 day prime delivery as expected. Product was as expected except disappointed that Stanley on the front of the flask was a sticker instead of engraved or rigid Sticker won't last long after a wash or two. So yes I'm disappointed with the fact that the company couldn't do better than just using a plane sticker. I give it three stars otherwise if not for that it would be 4 1/2

Broke within two uses
by Krisha (1 out of 5 stars)

I bought this flask for my boyfriend for Christmas, he used it twice, and the metal part of the lanyard broke. I'm honestly very surprised because I thought by buying a Stanley product, it would have been made better but apparently I was wrong. Wouldn't recommend this product.

Not bad, but not as good as what I've come to expect from Stanley over the years.

Overall it's a nice flask that should work fine, and it doesn't leak. You'll want to wash it out before use, because mine had some small flecks of plastic inside.

As others have said, the weak link is the plastic cap retainer. It's not flimsy per se, but it won't stand up to much abuse. The cap itself is good and threads on easily. The cap's top diameter is about 1 3/16 inch, and the diameter of the opening that you drink from is 5/8 inch. It has an opaque white rubbery seal ring inside the cap.

The small steel tab that holds the hinge-end of the cap retainer (opposite end from the cap) wasn't properly installed on mine, with only one of the two sides of it being fastened to the top of the flask. It still works fine and as designed, and it feels sturdy since it won't move at all, but it may not stand up to being dropped/bumped or to rough handling the way it would if it was fastened down properly to the top of the flask.

All in all I'm satisfied, but if the cap/retainer assembly fails me at some point, I'll probably get something other than this kind of flask as a replacement. The main body of the flask and the finish is well-done and should stand up to any kind of normal use/abuse for years.

Be careful using this flask. I left bourbon in ...

Be careful using this flask. I left bourbon in it for a week and a half and it turned blue. Same way vinegar does when you patina a carbon blade in it. Whatever steel is used to make this flask is not stainless. Could poison you. I threw mine in the trash.

The textured finish is really nice. It's a cool shape
by Max (3 out of 5 stars)

Pros: The textured finish is really nice. It's a cool shape. Silicone seal inside lid is great.

Cons: The plastic hinge is cheap & nasty. So is the sticker. The chrome finish on the top & bottom is a fingerprint magnet. The metal used to make this is thin and can be pressed in pretty easily.

The wide-mouth spout may be a pro or a con depending on your preference. For me it is a con as the alcohol comes out too fast.

Disappointed me at my first time using it. My liquor went dark and tasted metallic after 14 hours. It sucks.

Fancy Metal Flask w/ Plastic Cap (Poor Design)
by William Morris (2 out of 5 stars)
December 7, 2018

Great looking flask but the plastic cap is extremely susceptible to stripping, which then makes the flask useless. I had this for about 3 months before I stripped the cap and it became impossible to open without a wrench, so basically useless. Metal on plastic design usually does not work well when combined. I have a Stanley all-plastic flask and it is much better - not as cool looking but is much more durable and have had for years with no issues.

Easy fix for cap problem!
by ü áíôçñïðùò êáêüò (5 out of 5 stars)
September 8, 2016

Was pissed at this product at first. Been a mechanic for 8 years and I couldn't get the lid off without pliers, they're tight.
The problem: is that the threads are not made well in the cap, or on the flask depending on which engineer you ask. The threads bind and stick resulting in your booze being trapped and you spilling it as you destroy the cap.

The easy fix: put a good quantity of water in the flask. Heat the metal threads with a lighter, tighten the cap, invert the flask to cool and "set" the new thread profile, repeat until satisfied.

I had to do this 3-4 times but now it works easily and still seals. I can invert my flask and squeeze it and it won't leak.
*NOTE* The metal does not need to be red hot for this. This plastic will change shape at 200-300 degrees F. It may help to scrape the side of the first thread with a knife to remove large burrs, be gentle, it won't take much. :)
