Amazing, better than expected.

I was skeptical at first. We have a buckeye tree and a Sweet Gum tree that drops those pesky, spikey balls which are a pain to rake up. This thing worked like a dream on the buckeyes - like magic. A lot of the sweet gum balls were ground into the dirt from last season but with a little pressure they came right up. This season will be a lot less work, that's for sure.

Not perfect but works well

I have a medium-large version of this to pick up acorns as well as walnuts. They are different in size but typically I am getting to the walnuts after the squirrels have eliminated their gross casing. In any case, the main challenge with a tool like this is that you need to apply pressure in order to pick up nuts but while doing so, it also does all nuts to escape. Here are some tips:
1) Tote a bag or garbage can around with you so that you can empty this frequently not because it fills up quickly, but because it reaches a limit where an equivalent amount starts dropping out.
2) Alternate your patterns, especially if nuts are wedged into your lawn. While it seems easier to simply walk this up and down your lawn like a lawnmower, you'll need to go across and diagonally sometimes too.
3) A shorter lawn would help, but then again, you may be caught not being able to mow while there are many nuts on your lawn.
4) A flat surface helps. If your lawn is bumpy like mine, then one tip is to not just roll this such that the pressure is applied to the center; rather, twist this such as the narrower sides of this also sweep along the surface. Think about how you'd mop and make similar motions. It works great on the driveway or sidewalk because of the flat, hard surface.

No longer a skeptic!

I live in North Carolina where the acorn drop is at a record high this year! I tried to rake them out of my lawn but it was destroying the grass. I tried to vacuum using my high-powered vacuum/blower but few would vacuum and I was concerned about damaging the mulching blades in my unit. My wife found the Nut Wizard using a search engine. I told her that I highly doubted it would work and, even if it did, it would still probably take a long time.

I decided to check Amazon.com because the reviews are usually quite comprehensive, prices are good, and I have had very good luck with both Amazon and the 3rd-party merchants - either at least as good as expected or they make good on it. The unit arrived in great condition and assembly took only a minute.

In a nutshell - I am extremely pleased with the nut wizard! It works as well as advertised and I cleared my yard (not too large) in just over an hour. The only issue that I had was that some of the acorns that had been a bit mashed-in by two mowings primarily to remove leaves did not pick up - but it did for the vast majority of even those!

This is a very worthwhile device

SHOULD OF GOTTEN A BIGGER NUT WIZARD... Just sayin!

I like the concept - but I was picking up pine cones and the pine cones go in great - but hard to come out. It did save me from picking them up off the ground and bending over - who likes to bend over... (except that one person at the bar...) But - this would probably be great for picking up after a popcorn party... but I wish I would of gotten the bigger one.

This is EXACTLY what I needed to quickly and painlessly pick up the hundreds of mockernut hickory nuts in our new home's backyard. We moved in last winter and I was shocked to find how many dropped this fall! Much better than raking or bending over to pick up. I have a gorilla cart I tote around with me for emptying as this does fill up quickly.

I will also echo some other reviews that once it becomes too full you need to empty as a new nut entering can sometimes push a previously captured nut out. It is also not 100% effective at pieces of the nuts as they can sometimes get stuck between the wires causing nuts to escape. Despite these minor flaws, I would buy this again and have recommended it to our new neighbors who have similar trees!

This Wizard is a keeper!!!

This contraption makes picking up the black walnuts in my backyard almost a fun. Holding @ 24 walnuts each time, I had a bumper crop under 2 trees picked up in @ an hr or so. Seems to be well constructed, easy to roll & swivel directions. Works best if the walnuts are not nested down into longer grass. I just pulled the spnes apart to dump into the garden cart. Wished i found this yard tool years agp!

Wonder tool especially for gumballs!

Wonder tool! I can't say enough about this yard gadget. I ordered this for an elderly friend 80+ years old because she spent the better part of her day picking up gumballs out of her yard. Now she doesn't have to bend or stoop down to pick them up. The Nut Wizard allows her to stand up and roll over the gumballs while applying a little pressure as she rolls the wizard across the effected areas. I bought the medium wizard and it was the perfect size for gumballs in the Virginia area.

I was impressed with the quality of the nut wizard. I have over 10 walnut trees spread throughout and this tool picks up the walnuts with ease through the variety of grass and weed heights. I am 6' 6" and have no problems with the pole length.

can't wait until all the nuts fall, they are starting to fall now, so was able to try it out. God Bless who ever came up with the idea, we have been racking our brains for a way to pick them up.
