I am a teacher in a Title One school in central Phoenix, AZ for 7th grade. I teach English and Reading to many students who lack the motivation to open a book. I was looking for something to catch their interest. To change it up. Something they wouldn't expect from a seasoned, ahem, 50 something teacher. I started looking on Amazon and came across this desktop Gong. It caught my eye for 2 two reasons. One was the price - very affordable for me on a teacher's salary. (I was not getting reimbursed for this for sure) The second was the look. I knew that many in the class would be drawn to the artwork on the Gong. I use the Gong to end centers. It is loud enough for the students to hear. It gets their attention for sure and makes them stop, think and well need I say more? 7th graders to stop and think is awesome. Remember what I am teaching- English in an inner city school. Not an easy task. Well they love the Gong. I mean love it. I gave it 4 stars because it has a tin sound to it when you "gong" it.

I do like that the striker hangs right with the unit so I have less of a chance losing it. I looks nice on my desk also. So all in all a nice Gong for the money. Does the trick for me, serves the purpose I had it intended for. I gave a review because I rely on reviewers when I purchase also.

Large amounts of hot glue sloppily poured over base. Not hung correctly. The string on the gong are way too long, ut hangs below the base. The person who made this must have been blind folded.

If you're buying this for your desk at work, try it out before it makes its debut in your cube. It's surprisingly loud. Looks good and works very well at waking up your workmates.

Everyone needs one of these things. But really, here's the thing. You need to buy a gift for someone.... you have no idea what to get them. DESKTOP GONG is your solution! Seriously, how can you go wrong with this thing as a gift. It is only $14.00. Think of all the dumb things people give when they do holiday gift exchanges. I know if someone gave me one of these things I would be super excited. I know this gong is not supposed to be a musical instrument but it sounds terrible! It doesn't really even produce a pitch, it just sounds like a clatter of pots and pans being hit together. I thought I could use this to get my students' attention but it sounds so bad I don't even want to use it for that. I'm returning it and I would not recommend purchasing if you intend to play it. It would be fine as a decoration but that's about it, in my opinion.

I bought this mini gong for my sales team to use each time they booked a demo, they'd come up and ring the gong. It's a little on the flimsier side but what did I expect ordering a desk gong. It did it's job and didn't distract the rest of the floor as a larger gong would have.

Heads up read the sizing on this gong, lol. It's pretty small, but the kids got a thrill outta hitting it a few times. Some of the adults did as well. Used it for an Asian theme party. Update: Giving it a few stars more. People did want to bang the mini gong. It's the size that I was initially disappointed w, but it was still a good time.
